  1. That's a much fairer response and I agree with most of the points. The 'evolution of on-screen Superman' signage could go right throught the queue area to give people something to read while waiting in the inevitable line (although knowing Movie World it would probably move fast)
  2. There are some valid ideas in this thread and obviously some differing opinions. When it comes to this sort of thing, no one is more right than anyone else. I don't think it's necessary to call anyones ideas ridiculous
  3. Yeah the spot next to the Tumble Bug would also suit a drop ride like the Mega Drop - I made that suggestion ages ago. Again it would give it a nice elevated position. Mrmoon - what is the 'new' simulator and where is it located? Is it better than the old dodgy looking one?
  4. The Ranger adds some value but is nothing to get overly excited about. It might be okay if it was a bit better presented. Plonking it on top of a bit of asphalt and not giving it a facade doesn't help much either. As someone else on here was implying, the rest of the rides in the main area of the park look a bit better because they have infrastructure and buildings around them. They have been somewhat designed to fit into the surrounding area - unlike anything in Maloney's Corner
  5. Wonderland's Malaysian owners don't want to bargain. They have already made millions out of the park and are obviously not going to be happy until they squeeze every last cent out of the place. I hope it backfires
  6. I am not critical of Movie World's attractions. It is my favourite park and think all of the attractions are top notch. I think it is time for a new major attraction though as it has been a few years now
  7. I'm really pleased to hear that attendance has shot up this quarter thanks to The Claw. That's the way it should work. If the attendance didn't go up they may think twice about adding new rides regularly. The general public's doing the right thing for once
  8. I would love to see a version of Mega Drop made permanent at Luna Park and placed where the UFO currently sits (either ditch the UFO altogether or stick it out the back). That spot would be absolutely perfect for a drop ride with its elevated central position... just imagine the views from up there
  9. Sad to hear that it's unlikely that the stuff Alex spotted is going to be for any kind of new ride. I wonder if Movie World's attendance will be down this year with 0 new attractions and all the hype of The Claw at Dreamworld. If it's not down it should be. They need a kick up the bottom
  10. Thanks for the photos and info Joz. Very interesting animal. It made me laugh because apparantley Dugongs are also known as 'Sea Cows'. My childish sense of humour finds that very amusing. I think I'd heard of them before but had forgotten. I really hope Pig does well and would like to see him in his new home one day. Yeah I guess I'm remembering the building from when it was the World of the Sea Theatre. The only thing I remember about it is seeing a big tank, hearing a voice over and seeing what I thought was a pretend diver (I'm sure it was motionless) dressed in the old diving apparatus. I also remember the lighting effects making the water go lighter and darker as the bubbles went up. That's why I remember it as being all automated which I guess was wrong
  11. First of all, what is a dugong? I have heard of it but don't know what it is. Whatever it is I have to say that 'Pig' is such a cute name. What was Reef Discovery and how long was it there for? It sounds good but obviously wasn't very popular. I remember a little theatre at the front of the park which had a big tank in it and gave a little automated show about old fashioned diving apparatus. Is this the same building which now houses Reef Discovery/soon to be Pig Discovery?
  12. Mrmoon is talking about the Christmas 6 week holidays. I believe the rides he was referring to are the Hard Rock and the Mega Drop. Both of these will make a great addition to the park - shame they're only going to be temporary though. It means that people who don't come during the school hols (and if you're sensible you don't) miss out. Oh well, better than nothing. I always thought the Mega Drop would suit Luna Park really well
  13. Walrus. I'm just having fun coming up with animal names
  14. Do you truly think it is likely that DW will get a new coaster next year? I know you're saying it came from the CEO's mouth rabid, but it just seems too good to be true. Have Dreamworld ever added a new thrill ride one year after the next? Normally there's a gap of a few years. If it does happen I will be up at Dreamworld in a flash and singing it's praises all the way
  15. The weird thing is when Cyclone was at Luna Park the first drop seemed a lot higher and a lot more fun. What did Dreamworld do to it? I swear they chopped all the supports down by half. Not good
  16. I disagree. Bush Beast got to a point where it was physically painful for a lot of people and caused a lot of distress. I don't think any ride should cause actual pain. My last ride on Bush Beast was over 10 years ago so I can't personally comment but I can imagine how uncomfortable it was judging by various reports. I rode the Scenic Railway at Melbourne's Luna Park a couple of years ago and it was hideous. What could have been a fun ride with great views was just really unpleasant. I can understand your point about wooden coasters being noisy and giving that out of control feeling but there should still be a level of passenger comfort. On top of this, ask any of the guys here that have ridden some of the decent woodies in the states and they will tell you that they can actually deliver a really smooth, but still totally fun ride. You need to come to terms with the fact that Bush Beast was comparatively a poor ride and certainly not maintained properly
  17. djrappa - feedback for any business is important. These 'coaster geeks' as you call them are customers too. For the most part it's just wishful thinking anyway. Nothing wrong with that
  18. A new animal exhibit for Sea World? What a surprise. We all know the park is certainly lacking in these types of attractions. Sorry for the sarcasm. But at this rate Sea World may have to look at changing their title from 'theme park' to 'zoo'
  19. If coaster crazee thought the Bush Beast was the best coaster EVER, I am surprised he's not in love with Luna Park's Wild Mouse or the mini train out the back. Like I've said before, some people are easily pleased
  20. Let it go folks. It is obvious Huss was just talking about the ride and not the people... as he confirmed
  21. Yeah I think one of Dreamworld's major limitations is going to be the amount of free land available. They just don't seem to have heaps of space left over like so many US parks do. It doesn't seem to be worrying them either as they are in the process of developing commercial and residential premises on the spare land as part of the Coomera town centre. I don't think they are saving much for future ride expansions which is a bit of a shame
  22. Anything with too many loops would make me sick. I'd much prefer huge hills with lots of airtime - is that what a hyper is? I get confused with my coaster jargon. Something like Millenium Force or Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point - they look incredible and we have nothing like them. Hard to believe that Magnum was built in 1989 and still to this day we have nothing that even comes close. Forget all the loops and tricks - I just think we need something incredibly tall that runs a complete circuit
  23. It's funny how you guys keep mentioning DW getting a big coaster AND a couple of good flat rides to go with it. It is highly unlikely that they would introduce a huge new coaster and a number of flat rides at the same time considering The Claw is a flat and has been marketed to the hilt as a massive new stand alone attraction. I also don't see the appeal with launch coasters. I would much rather see a massive lift hill with a huge drop - it builds up more suspense and as I said before, we don't have any decent (big) lift hills in Australia. Also wouldn't mind a huge woodie and definitely think this would fit in with DW's theme if placed near Rivertown or Rocky Hollow
