  1. Just to let you know that there should be an update done for Superman by the end of next week, that is if Ian is able to work at the park within the next 7 days. For those who don't know, Rabid is moved between the parks on a regular basis and can only take pictures while at the park. As far as his little slip with the spelling goes, you can not tell me that you have never made a mistake while typing at 11pm after a full day at work. Nobody's perfect.....
  2. My hats off to bigglesworth003 as I found the doco on some old VHS tapes and it was not of Disneyland, but of DisneyWorld and the appartment story is correct as was last stated. As far as one in DL I could not tell you for certain, unless someone would like to ask the question on westcoaster as some of those readers work at Disneyland. Just a thought....
  3. After watching a doco on the construction of the Disneyland Park, I also thought that there was an appartment built into the Castle for Walts use. It was stated that it was not so much for him to live in on a full time basis, but for him to use during late nights within the offices of the park, to save him the trip home. The doco was done by Disney itself and if I can remember where I first found it I will let you know...now to start to try and remember....
  4. Don't right off the prospect of one of the American chains coming to Australia in the future just yet. Disney tried to get the tax brakes from the NSW Government a few years ago and were told in no uncertain terms no. Now it is a different story with the general public wanting more growth with the state in the way of jobs etc. I just don't see Six Flags coming to Australia with the way they have been performing with there stocks the last few years, selling a lot of parks to pay outstanding debts. I do believe that Sydney should have a major theme park, and that the next park built in Australia should be within the Sydney area. And don't forget that no-one said it had to be an overseas theme park company to open in Sydney, and as we in Brisbane know, Steven Irwin is looking to open a new park somewhere in Australia and the size of the land would suit him down to the ground. I guess only time will tell what will happen with this land and we can hope for the best. But wouldn't be nice if it was Disney or Six Flags??
  5. As far as randomly picking out park patrons, the idea behind this is to get a true responce from someone who does not have a preceived idea of the ride and what to expect from it. If the park was to offer test phase rides to a web community like us, it would not be a instant responce, but one based on what we might have expected the ride to be like before we rode the ride. But that is just my own thoughts so you never know what might happen in the future.
  6. Not to sure where you are getting your info from Adam, but as far as I can see there's not enough room for any inversions within the area being used for the coaster.....and I allways tell the truth.
  7. Not to sure how many of you have kids, but I and most parents will tell you that there is never enough areas to take kids. If you tell them that they can't go on a ride cause they are not tall or old enough, then they can act like the world is coming to an end. The more things for the kids, the better for families visiting the park. If this attraction is in the old Gumtree Gully area of the park, I don't see the problem with it takeing area that could be used for other attractions as the building is allready there. It would just require a small refit to suit and Dreamworld has a new attraction for a small amount of money. Having just said that I should read the info that we now have from the park in reguards to this attraction before I say any more..... Now that I have read the report, I am certain that this is the area that would be used. It has the resturant that is suited for families and is only around the corner from the Nick Central area and Tiger Island so it would be the ideal area for this new land. At least this is my own point of view, as a father of two young theme park fans.
  8. ^No trouble, but I get asked the question so much I thought that I would let all know one more time where all the info I get does come from. Another rumor that is an old one, that the TB site will be for a new B&M Coaster. Last time I was talking to people within the park, I was told that they were looking into a new coaster design/builder for the park that would make it one of a kind within Australia. This was around the same time as Cyclone was under construction, so take this rumor as you wish, but only time will tell us all what the parks next big thing will be.
  9. From my information the track is being made in Nerang and the low cost of transporting the track would help in keeping the cost of the ride low. But to the best of my knowlage the info I received was only rumor, so I guess there is only one way to find out....keep watching the park!!! P.S. Wasn't DW surpose to get a new attraction this year that has to do with the closure of the chair lift....Ride closure and new construction planned might just equal a Hyper, or am I reaching.......??
  10. If you re-read my reply Paul, you will see that I have refered to Ian as "The Rabid One" not by his user name. I have done this for the last 3 years that I have known him, just so you know
  11. If I remember correctly, I was told that the first feedback from guest in the park is all positive about the screen and that it looks like staying around for a while. I guess we will have to wait for the Rabid one to read this and let us know what the story is?
  12. Glubbo, the majority of the rumors that I receive come through the construction industry of which I am a part of. If there is something being built in Australia and one of my friends within the industry hears about it, then they let me know. The other rumors come from people working at the parks that I meet while in the parks, like other people on these fourms. The rumors that I have defended in the past, like the Scooby Doo Coaster, the moving of the Skull at the TOT, the removal of the Thunderbolt have all come true, so that would tell you that not all of the rumors I receive are rubbish. There is allways some rumors that are truth and will happen. As far as the S&S Rides rumor, that one has been around for the last year or so and is ment to be part of the new Town Square that the park was planning to build with the hotel. The two rumored rides were the Fly Swatter and a second ride that I can't remember at this time. This was also around the time of the rumors about the park buying rides from Huss, mainly the Gyro Swing version, but they went elsewhere for that. Just so you know where they all came from....a great man once said " Ask and you shall receive".
  13. RUMOR ALERT!!! Ok were to start. The suspended coaster for the Island. The new water park for the old Thunderbolt site. The new coaster for the TB site. The two new S&S attractions that the park will be buying this year. The new dark ride for the old Riverwalk area of the park. The new Inverted pulse coaster for the Island area. These are all rumors that I have received over the last 6mts. The only thing that I have been told is that the new attraction will not leave us wanting at all. I do not know what it is, just that it is world class and new to Australia...which could be just another overstatment by the park. But only time will tell I guess....??
  14. Not to sure on which restraint I would like better should it be a OTSR style ride. I think that out of the picture above and the ones on Storm Runner, I would have to go with the SR style seen here.
  15. Nice mix of your own footage and the promo stuff that the park sends out. Music fits right into the footage...nice job.
  16. In regards to Screamscape, Lance has two rules with posting onto his site. First if it is only a rumor, then it is stated as such at the beginning of the info. If it has been confirmed, then Lance normally will receive the info from the ride builders and not the parks, as they are more keen to release the info about the new rides that they are building. A lot of these company's do sign contracts that do not allow then to tell anyone about upcoming attractions, but we all know from past history that this does not allways happen,( remember the trains for Scooby Doo at the industrial fair in Germany before the ride was even confirmed). So now that I have said my peace on that topic, about the rides layout. If the rumors about the bunny hops are true, then expect some turns in the layout also, due to the lack of space that the ride has to be built. I would guess at least 1-2 turns inbetween the hills so as it will fit into place. Just some more thoughts for the grinder.
  17. I believe that the cost of the ride has been kept down due to the use of a local steel company that are building the track under supervision. At least this is the rumor I have received this week, and the 100km/h sounds like a blast better than the TOT. I guess with the ride at that speed we would not get a top hat higher than 40-50m tall or it would not make it over. All good news in the end.
  18. Sorry Slick, but Richard has allways had a plan for a site that would require some sort of membership subscription going back for some time that I know of. It was just not required before as the costs involved were covered by Richard himself. While I don't think that I will subscribe, I have no problem with there being the option on the site, to allow people to receive better quality products. The time that both Richard and Ian for that matter put into their sites is large enough, and then to pay for those sites as well, does sometimes put a large strain on these guys. I know that Ian and I have spoken about ways to bring in enough money to allow the Ozcoaster site to keep going, while not being a strain on Ian's pocket, and some of these ideas may go into action this year. So I guess it comes down to a choice that we all have to make. Do we surport Richard by at least buying some of the products that he produces or we pay a small subscription fee to allow us to view the site. The only other option that may happen if we don't is that Richard may end up out of pocket so much that the site closes. And even with the past between Richard and myself, (now sorted out) I would not like to see this last option occure. But this is just the view of an old fart anyway.
  19. Well this is all starting to fall into place with some of the rumors that I have been hearing within the construction world. About a month ago, I received a rumor that Disney was looking to purchase land around the Blacktown area, but I dismissed it as I get these rumors all the time. I also heard that they were going to check out the old WS site to see what how large the park was and if it was worth making an offer on. Now that all of the above has been said, I am beginning to see that I might have dismissed this a bit soon. I will still treat it as a rumor, but I just thought that you would like to know that it was out there. I hope for Sydneys sake, that it all comes true.
  20. Not 100% sure about that, but I guess the company would employ a local firm to construct the ride due to the cost of shipping all the ride from overseas. If the ride was shipped from overseas, we would be lucky to see a new ride every 10yrs due to the cost, but this is only my opinion and the original post states that it is only a RUMOR at this stage.
  21. Ok a little ticked off that the buss got the job of Maintenance over me, but then I still get to enjoy the park as a guess instead of working on the rides. I could not think of anything worse then having to clean out the filters for a park like that, you could only imagine what would be in those things!
  22. I can answer this one for Richard. During the building of the ride, you were able to see inside alot of the ride from the entrance to the LW coaster and all of the pictures were taken from outside construction fences. I was also at the park with Richard on one day when some of these pictures were taken and it was not hard to see into the building or the parts out on the ground. This is the only way that pictures should be taken during construction unless you have written permission from the park to enter the building site due to work place health and safety laws.
  23. Think that we could get this back on topic please people, and on that note, I have received several RUMORS that a welding company in NSW has started an order for some new coaster track. Hope it is for the Super Coaster! Any other thoughts?
  24. A little off topic but it ties in with the above post. Within my job, I tend to meet a lot of tradesman who know what is about to happen in the construction industry in the Brisbane/Gold Coast area. With that said, I do know that the film side of the park is building on the backlot, a full size set of Metro city for the new Superman movie, filmed both at WBMW and at Fox Studios in Sydney. So to reuse the set in a coaster layout could work if the time line of both projects meets. This does not work however. But it would be nice would it not??? P.S. Look at the front of the park and try to fit a layout in that area for a new coaster and see what you can come up with....you might be close!!
  25. I have heard that the ride will be down for a total of 5 weeks. This length of time would allow for anything in the line of drilling or digging of footers in the area of the ride. I mean if you are going to move a large crane or hole digger around in the area of the ride, (mentioned in another post as a possible site for the new ride) you really don't want the ride in opperation. All it takes is one little foot to get broken and we are in the same boat as the USA with a law suit on the parks hands. Looking at the area around the LW, you could see this becoming a possible thing, so while the LW is in rehab, I would be trying to get into the viewing area to see if there is anything else happing. Just a thought.
