  1. Personally, i dont think Dreamworld gives a crap about maintenance, GD has been running at half mast for how long?
  2. Ok, Gotcha, for some reason i though the track was down behind the fake station (in other words paralel to the fake station rather than the launch with the track merging in just before the flood. I guess you just dont notice the transfer because you are focusing on the launch or the projection of the flower across the wall (yes, it looks like a flower) Agreed, i think a little while back on ozcoaster i posted a list of potential areas for development, ah, here it is. I lettered each potential ride location...
  3. I was thinking of that area you described For some reason it just seemed to be a huge expanse of warehouse that was unused and could fit something. I never actually saw the transfer tracks when i rode though, are the trains just sitting out in plain view of the riders? Ill do something in paint to show what i mean later on though and somebody can correct me
  4. No, at a 90 degree angle to the launch is the u turn where the flood of water is, then after that is the car crash scene which is the final u turn before the launch. Remember, the whole first section is like a giant hook shape starting from the station.
  5. Actually the maintenance area is sort behind the shaking lockers, you can see the track lead off into there as you near the end of that section. I was talking about the bit directly beside the launch which is really just a huge empty shed.
  6. Its basically run by people who are in it for the wrong reasons.
  7. I had another idea for a flat ride for MW. It would be based around that movie "Saturday night fever". Basically the ride would have its main entrance somewhere off one of MWs main streets. It would be like a real disco with part of the queue line running along the footpath bordered with a velvet rope type thing, a neon sign would be above the entrance and the wall would be plastered with band posters. The queue would then head indoors into the switchbacks where there would be all the usual disco lighting (Have fun DjRappa), mirror balls, speakers playing disco music and of course one of those translucent floors made out of coloured squares. at the top of the queue an MC would announce that the next group was going to "strut their stuff" (board the ride). A larger building (just a plain white shed as usual) would hold the flat ride and it would directly adjoin the queue. It too would have plenty of lights, music, lasers etc as well as an accompanying sound track (ride could move to the music). At the end of the ride the sound system would play a round of applause and people would disembark and head for the exit. Possible locations for the ride could be behind police academy with the entrace opposite ricks cafe americain (just get rid of one of the shops) another option (not sure if it could work) could be using up the big empty space in the superman escape building. There is a big gap beside the launch, which could be walled off and soundproofed. The entrance would then be at the front of main street. Only other issue i can think of is getting licensing for the ride, but since it was released nearly 30 years ago it might not be a problem.
  8. Geeze GoGoBoy ease up a bit, he's doing this in his own time. Whats the rush anyway, there wouldnt be many changes on site, whats the point of posting pictures if there have already been photo updates elsewhere?
  9. No, this is not a spam bot telling you to take a survey, But it seems wants our opinion on some stuff. Go to http://www.movieworld.com.au and click on the banner up the top. You can win a couple of season passes for your chosen park so its partially worthwhile. BUT...i noticed a couple of interesting things. Firstly, they ask about your opinion on a "FUN pass", they basically describe it as pass where you can mix and match the parks of your choice, and with it get free admission to paradise country (wonder how that will work, is paradise country struggling?). It sounds like an interesting prospect and frankly i have been wanting something like it for ages. It means people could not bother with SW if they are not interested for example, or could pass up WnW if they are a non swimmer rather than being obliged to actually go to each park under the 3PSP rules. Another little thing is it asking your opinion on the websites, and what you would like to see on it. Make sure you tick the box which says "Pictures and Videos".
  10. Haha, the comparison is so funny, DW was quite happy to talk about what they were planning, but WVTP gave a typical "we cant say anything yet". Classic WVTP marketing, the best way to tell the public about a new ride is not to tell them anything at all. Then they wonder why their new attractions dont draw the crowds they want. I wonder if they realize they are screwing over the two thirds or so (im assuming WVTP has similar crowd proportions to DW) of visitors who arent local and need time to actually organize a trip (Book accomidation, organize annual leave etc) to the Gold Coast by not telling them about it till the last minute? Case point: Superman, the website for the thing was not opened until just a month before opening in late november. Im sure by then people would have already made their holiday plans, or would have difficulty getting accomidation at that late stage.
  11. And personally, I would rathar see DW get a few more coasters than another thrill flat ride as there's only TOT and Cyclone, and only TOT is good.
  12. Nyahhhhhhh, Vekoma ROTFL 11111111!!!!!!!!!! Ok, but on a serious note im trying to think what this could be. I cant imagine it being a standard SLC of course, and their custom ones are flat out bad value. An invertigo would not stand up well against LW, though a Giant invertigo could be a possibility. I also doubt it will be a Big Air since it would be very similar to the Halfpipe going in at SW. A thrill lift or a tilt coaster could be a one trick pony to bring in people though. But...I think a likley prospect is a launched ride, Vekoma too now use a Hydraulic launch, and they have things such as the ten loop coaster (yet to sell one though) That could be a good response to SE. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out, and while Vekoma have done new trains its hard to shake that feeling that surrounds vekomas.
  13. Well considering the Claw at DW cost 6 million i can see a carnie ride that is much smaller being that amount
  14. New "Chasers War on Everything" segment: using a toy baby to get on the kids rides at DW.
  15. Just out of interest though, are shareholders able to express concerns such as that when they feel that the company has overlooked things or could have done better? Though i suppose a decision to add one could have easily added at least another $10 million to the parks cost.
  16. Wouldnt there be ones in the curved building by the entrance? Just on that, there dont seem to be changerooms close to where the cross park gate is (near flowrider) Thats a fair hike just to get changed (unless people can somehow use the flowrider changerooms) I know what you mean, but it seems a bit disproportionate. While this whole park is good, I think it was a bit of an error not to open a lazy river with the park as that is actually an interesting way to relax (as opposed to just sitting on a deck chair). When I have spoken to people about WnW it seems a lot of people found calypso beach to be their favourite attraction purely for that reason. In fact WWW seems to be lacking any real light attraction (apart from the wavepool when its not running) By not having one they have also missed out on a very high capacity attraction and a good transport method. Hopefully in some unseen way they have provided for one in the park, and have plans to put one in soonish.
  17. Calling the 6 lane version an insect racer or the 4 lan version a quadriped racer just doesnt have the same ring to it . But with that aerial photo you can notice a few things. Firstly you can see the toddler pool next to the play structure (yup, 2 kids zones). Look closely behind the octo racer, you can see the splash pool for the last attraction (yet to be announced) Another other thing is the spacing of the park. Considering that they have limited land to play with it is wierd to see just how much of the park is empty space thats going to get closed in. I was expecting more density. Also, there seems to be a lack of toilet blocks, i can count only 3. IMO another one near the racer would round it off well. Somehow i think the employee carpark is next on the chopping block for park expansion. Another area i think they could add rides is the area between cyclones lift and first drop. Its linear so maybe some speed slides could fit...
  18. Damn, i was hoping it would finish sometime soon. It really frustrates me how channel 10 gets a single "hit" show that we are supposed to love be it Big Brother, Idol or whatever, and then justs plasters it all over the schedule every day for several months, which basically alienates anyone who is not interested and reduces the variety avaliable drastically. It was about to go the same way with Yasmins getting married, but thankfully it didnt rate. But yeah, there goes a good ride out that way, but hey a house in the off-show season with too many mirrors is sure to keep the punters coming back. That and the teacups....
  19. I wouldnt expect any level of world fame. Its just another model from the Proslide lineup, but with 2 more lanes than the one at SFHH.
  20. I was that member on Ozcoaster, proves how memorable my name is Ok, lets clear things up. -The Rocket is confirmed (well not by the park, but you get what i mean), but i have another source, and it is definitley one. -The turbo tunnels will go with the octopus since they both share the same slide profile (36' i think), Oh, and the racer will definitely have 8 lanes (unless they decided to change at the last minute) -The "big red tunnel slide" will most likely (actually, definitley) be part of the Rocket, remember that rockets have enclosed sections too.
  21. Forgive my ignorance but what did Chinatown have to do with LW anyway? But a few other things. I think if they do develop that area more they should allow an easment for a link path the the wild west area for some time in the future because the gap between (it is actually huge). The other thing, i think a flat ride could also go on the other side of LW (lift hill side). It would be directly joining the Superman Plaza, and i think a perfect theme could be a Lex Luthor machine of evil type thing, and again, basically any flat ride could be themed appropriatley. Have the queue as some sort of lab and you would be set. Now along with all these improvements the side of the LW "sound stage" that adjoins the shortcut path would be covered with facades of skyscrapers (i think IOA has done something like that), this would finish off the whole metropolis thing perfectly. I think i got carried away. Now, in the interests of provoking even more discussion, i have attached one of our beloved aerial photos so we can sort of point out our ideas better.
  22. What about a ride somehow made as a generic tribute to all martial arts movies, sort of in the way WWF is a generic tribute to all Westerns. Just imagine, have a chinese theatre in the hallways there would be posters for different martial arts films, and TVs showing highlights (same as WWF). You could then have the main queue area in the theatre with the switchbacks being formed by rows of seats (eg you would walk down one row, then turn around and walk down the next). You would then go out a little side door near the screen into a back alley where 'the fight' would take place (in other words you would board the flat ride) Im not sure how you would place everything though, maybe the ride itself could be built behind SDSC with the entrance facade somewhere in with the LW shop (probably would have to renovate a bit)
  23. I disagree, there have been some pretty major woodies coming out lately, such as El Toro, The Voyage, Balder, Thunderhead, Hades, Thunderbird, Kentucky Rumbler etc.
