  1. Yes Bush Beast did throw me out of my seat but it was when the train was on the brakes on the back curve, mind you I was in the operator’s booth. Actually it was great for the operators because it was very difficult to see the back curve and there was a risk that the train could get stuck there, depending on the wind speed and direction, but you always knew that the train was moving when the entire station moved when the train hit the brakes on the back curve. 2. I forgot to put this link in my previous post. I would have to say that it completely dispels any "rumours" about the park re-opening that may be floating around. http://www.interchangepark.com.au/ "The Bus is now leaving for Missing Link, Tasmania"
  3. All you need is a lot of money, a lot of man power and some turnstiles. Thanks Ned Flanders for that bit of info. "The Bus is now leaving for Two Turners Reserve, NSW"
  4. Sorry but what a load of crap. It wouldn't matter if it was 10 years or the day before closing no one from the park would reply to an email with that answer. And what "national safety standards" where they talking about? I can clear this one up too seeing as I was the second person on the scene. Firstly the girl did slip over but not due to a race to the top of the tower. She had come down the Freefall and as she stepped out of the slide she slipped and hit her head on the edge of the slide. Secondly she did not have any leg injuries just a suspected spinal injury because initially she had tingling and limited movement in her legs. Thankfully she was cleared of any spinal damage after being taken to hospital via ambulance. Now to answer your questions: 1. Yes it's re-opening the piles of crushed concrete in what was the car park will become the new rides/games, anyone who can climb to the top wins a large toy. 2. See above answer. 3. There are no photos worth taking now unless you like photos of giant piles of crushed concrete and heavy machinery. The park is completely un-recognisable. 4. I used to work there but as a ride operator. The lake was drain, funnily enough, with a pump. The eels didn't like it much and the ducks just flew away. 5. I've just got back from 2 weeks holiday north of Brisbane. During my holiday I took a drive down to the Gold Coast to visit some relatives. As I approached that theme park area after my 4 hour drive I was expecting to be blown away by the sight of the rides and the parks from the freeway (it's been over 10 years since I have been to the Gold Coast), I was very disappointed with what I saw. Out of the three parks the only one that made any visual impact was Wet 'n' Wild. Dreamworld's tower looked a lot like Sydney's waterway control tower at the Harbour Bridge end of Darling Harbour. Superman had no visual impact at all, which I was surprised with. I also have to say that Aussie World had more visual impact from the highway than Movieworld or Dreamworld did and that's saying a lot. I guess the parks have to abide by fairly strict planning laws but they really need to improve the visual impact for passing motorists. "The Bus is now leaving for Sight Point, Western Australia"
  6. http://www.interchangepark.com.au/ has been updated since I last posted the link. Interestingly the development at this stage does not cover the all of the land that Wonderland did own it looks like they are just developing the car parks and the actual area of the park (theme and wildlife). 7. Far you could you have pulled a post from any further back? It took me a GPS locator and my astounding orienteering skills to find it. No I don't live there but did work at Eastern Creek for 7 or 8 years so I know the area very well and as Alex said the land that is available is zoned for industrial purposes, such as the warehouses around the old Wonderland site. The rest of the area it either privately owned, has high voltage power lines running over it, is a rubbish disposal area, is a raceway, has a high pressure main gas line running through it, or has been set aside for the green belt that will run through western Sydney. There is not much if any spare space for a theme park that would want to expand in the future. Oh did I mention the large body of water that happens to supply Sydney with drinking water? 8. Everyone knows about Kevin, he has been discussed several times in these forums. "The Bus is now leaving for Kevins Bore, Western Australia"
  9. Wet 'n' Wild? "The Bus is now leaving for Wild-U-Park, South Australia"
  10. This was a Triple M competition and a lot of the contestants and the radio hosts, one of which was Andrew Denton signed the wall inside the storeroom that was next to the queue line area of the ride. "The Bus is now leaving for Sign Post Ridge, Victoria"
  11. Great post shaz. Funnily enough the Outback Shed is about the only thing still standing. It was being used to store the Bush Beast and Beastie carriages, the bits of Endeavour plus the shipping containers containing bits of other rides. Those bits and pieces are now gone but the building is still standing. "The Bus is now leaving for Cut Out Camp, Victoria"
  12. Who really cares if they are using advertising or not? It is a commercial venture and part of that is advertising. By the way Adam I think you need to update your signature and the ride is here and no longer coming soon. "The Bus is now leaving for Soonah Crossing, Queensland"
  13. I took a drive past the park on the weekend and it is completely unrecognisable and not worth taking any photos of. About the only thing you can see is a heap of machinery and very large piles of crushed concrete in the car park. As for what you can see from Wallgrove Rd, it’s a dirt bowl and piles of fill to get rid of the holes. "The Bus is now leaving for Dirty Corner Swamp, NSW"
  14. Themeing is like packaging for products. The better it looks the more people buy it, or in this case ride. If every ride had absolutely no themeing this site and every other theme park site would not exist because people would not be passionate about them. Themeing can be very minor i.e. the train is painted to very major i.e. Pirates of the Caribbean (which lets face it is an ordinary ride which is made great by the themeing) and everything in between. This all helps the overall atmosphere of a ride. "The Bus is now leaving for Caribbean Lake, Victoria"
  15. Do you really think that Australian parks have a big issue with waiting times? I would say that for the majority of rides the wait is less than one hour and for a few rides between 1-2 hours. I know from experience that the longest wait at Wonderland was around 3 hours for Demon, Space Probe, Snowy and Bush Beast but that was on a day when there were around 15,000 people in the park and I'm pretty sure no park in Australia gets that big a number on a regular basis. I also know that most of the big parks in North America will have queues of 3+ hours on their major attractions and unlike Aussie parks they have 10+ major rides and crowds of 30,000+ on a daily basis. I think we should feel lucky that we don't have to deal with those numbers here in Australia. "The Bus is now leaving for Numberthown, Western Australia"
  16. From memory they cost $125 but when you take into account that by going 3 times you have payed for it, it was pretty good value. One thing is for sure though. Kevin got good value out of his Wonderpass. I hear you can get them dirt cheap these days though. "The Bus is now leaving for Cheapside, Western Australia"
  17. Speaking of irrelevant banter. "The Bus is now leaving for Bantry Bluff NSW"
  18. I’m going to organise a road block of the M7 to M4 fly over so we can have a candle light vigil overlooking the dust pit that was once Bush Beast and Snowy (you actually get a pretty good view of what’s left of the park from there). "The Bus is now leaving for The Lighthorse Interchange, NSW"
  19. Unless the producers are total morons (they are the producers of BB so it's not far off) they won't start until the Commonwealth Games are finished. If they do try to compete during that period they will get slaughtered in the ratings and it will be the death nail for the show. Do you hear that? Yes? Good that's me cheering. "The Bus is now leaving for Commonwealth Explosives Pier, Victoria"
  20. Most of the big parks have passes for disabled people and their chaperones so they arrive at the exit to a ride and give the operator the pass. The operator looks at the queue and judges how long it is and then allocates a time and tells them to come back at that time. The system works well. "The Bus is now leaving Judges Park, NSW"
  21. The "back up chick thing" wasn't with him on his visit to Wonderland. "The Bus is now leaving for Chickaboogalla, Queensland"
  22. Surely those photos on IMDb and the link Adam gave are not of Superman at Movie World. If it is they might want to get the people who painted the track back in and redo the job as it looks like it's already worn down through the paint to the metal of the track. Even Demon didn't wear through the paint that quickly. "The Bus is now leaving for The Painted Peak, Queensland"
  23. I don't use the emoticons because I'm scared of them. They're a little freaky looking. Your name is not Diannasaurus yet you still use it? That's lying and people who lie don't get presents from Santa. Anyway back to the subject, the show was filmed all over the park including the Wildlife Park. From memory he went on the Dodgems, Zodiac and the Train. He also filmed bits outside some of the kid’s rides because being a large bear he couldn't go on them. Diannasaurus the first two paragraphs are sarcastic. "The Bus is now leaving for Teddy Bear Gap, Victoria"
  24. Firstly Diannasaurus, if that is your real name, I know you weren't disputing wether for not Beastie was open or not and I also know that Daniel's comment was relating to men of the homosexual persuasion. I was being sarcastic, something that a lot of people here have no concept of. "The Bus is now leaving for Gay Lad Springs, Victoria"
  25. He had to get the costume on somehow and I'm pretty sure he didn't wear his normal clothes inside the suit. And anyway he is right Beastie was closed when it was filmed. It's ok Daniel, I've contacted the production company and am organising a copy of the footage for you. You’re a star! "The Bus is now leaving for Humphrey Well, South Australia"
