I have a feeling that the wheel itself wouldn't be 100 million... thats lucrative... perhaps the entire development maybe. i don't know.

Well I certainly wouldn't rule expansion out. The park has to compete with its larger competitor WetnWild which is a great, big park. So whitewater world certainly shouldn't stay stagnant considering its successful opening peak season. You gotta spend money to make money and new attractions will create greater interest and also will increase return attendance. The themepark market is changing, it is moving much faster than it used to with huge capital being forked out to keep attendance up. This transition I hope will attract even more attendance and therefore in turn have even larger capital spending. Appart from that MLT may have had it on the cards for a stage 2 development and it may only just have been approved, I don't know but it would be great to see it happen.

Hey guys, while I was talking with people at guest relations yesterday while my aqua max card was being done. the service person ( possibly service manager) mentioned that expansion of white water world was approved and it will be expanding in east direction. I guess where the rear carpark (east of whitewater world, boardering dreamworld south) probably is the area to which she was refering. I don't know anything more about it, just going on what the person said. exciting, although not surprising that they probably will expand, as it has turned out to be a successful and very enjoyable themepark

Hey Guys, Went to Dreamworld and Whitewater World yesterday, had a blaast. Saw a crane and construction workers pullling down the model T cars all the metal guide track has been removed and the building was pretty much just a frame shouldn't be too long and it will be completely gone. I think things are really get moving with the new ride.

yeah thats what i thought. Seems to be foundations, contruct, plug and play. I'd say this will save a lot of time in construction and should help prevent errorness counstruction by doing the complicated work during manafacture

Just received email from WVTP Sea World is excited to announce the Sea World Eye - an impressive 60m high giant observation wheel – will remain at Sea World until May 14! While there are similar wheels around the world, in places like London, Manchester, Seville and Niagara Falls, this is the first time this awesome attraction has appeared in Australia. Until May, visitors to Sea World will continue to enjoy sweeping views of the scenic Gold Coast area, including unparalleled views across the Broadwater offered by the Eye. And best of all, the Sea World Eye will continue to be offered as part of the Park’s normal admission price. With 42 air-conditioned Gondolas, each holding up to 6 people, there will be plenty of opportunity for everyone to experience the Sea World Eye. Guests of all ages will also hear interesting and entertaining facts about Sea World and the Broadwater from the audio system inside each Gondola. hopefully they will reconsider it would be nice for it to be perminant

Even if they sold the show to fox, it wouldn't be moving because A, all the shows infrastructure is quite expensive and difficult to prepare, B, the shows production company is not network TEN or FOX. The company that produces the show is Southern Star Endemol. They produce it and sell the broadcasting rights to whichever network they establish a relationship with and are willing to pay the big bucks for cost of production. It is an expensive show hiring about 300 production staff. Now the worst thing that could happen is if the show ends up earning syndication. Great for Big Brother because of larger budgets, but bad for us because we'd never get rid of it hehehe.
-
I know for sure that the production company of big brother has paid for another 3 years this year included of rent to dreamworld. Dreamworld don't actually have direct influence over the show. 3 more series confirmed regardless of the severely falling ratings simply because they are making a fortune through SMS voting and inturn making the show extremely profititable regardless of the ratings. Big bro is going to be around for a while still... Be assured of that

If everything is true and the ride is going ahead it will possibly be considered prototype and therefore will be designed engineer manafactured and constructed inhouse at intamin, as was the first accellerator coaster. The ride would then be dissasembled and reassembled at location. That is if they actually consider it a full prototype although the launch mechanism has been well utilised in many other rollercoasters. Also i'd say if it were to be completed this year it would be finished around december before boxing day so that it is ready and tested before peak season. -
Haven't seen any problems with batman spaceshot at this stage, superman escape can occasionally misfire causing a rollback and can have hydraulic launch issues, it requires considerable maintence but that just comes when you have to use such a powerful engine. Also people sneaking things onboard and falling out of their pockets or whatever has caused half day closures apparently.

Keep in mind guys that dreamworld fairly recently had a massive increase in capital growth, through its independant evaluation. They can use that boost in capital to help get finance for a major rollercoaster. The approximate cost for any of the current 11 intamin hydraulic launch coasters ranges from about 10 million aud to around the 35 million aud mark, none of them are chump change. So for dreamworld to do this they will more than likely spend alot more than the 6million allocated for this year. -

Guys is there really bad blood between the site and dreamworld because of the media relationship rules? is that why no one seems to be overtly excited about the prospect of a new coaster? bar a couple of people -

We will just have to see how thrilling it is. Dreamworld has always seemed to push the 'extreme' ride market, and they have certainly invested enough in 'family' market. It definitely looks like they are trying to release a world first and compete against movieworld's accellerator without using an identical ride type. An inverting motorcycle launched coaster... sounds interesting to me. Oh and once they start construction I wouldn't be surprised if it went up quite fast. Sooner its finished sooner they will have higher attendance and sooner they can get rid of interuptions that major park attractions can cause. Although I do know they will try and keep it as quiet as they can, but they will never keep things completely unknown. Things always leak hehe is inevitable. -
so do you still like working there rabid?
-
I have no idea why people keep on saying Movieworld is ahead of Dreamworld, it is not true at all. I go to both very regularly, they are both in fairly similar repair, Scooby Doo is especially starting to show some damage, it just happens through age. Also Dreamworld is a full day park, Movieworld is a half day park at the most, it is quite easy to go on everything, some rides a few times, within 3 hrs. Dreamworld is a far larger park. As far as the mine ride is concerned it received annual maintenance not that long ago including a major refit in 2002 as far is I can remember, I am not sure of their intentions but they may just being doing repairs if it were shut I'd say they'd take it off the website and they would certainly pull the track down. Obviously its going to be closed for a while and I'd rather the space be used by some seating than the view of some shade cloth

I agree here the restraint needs redesigning, for alot of riders, not so much me but many of my friends who i go with regularly have a serious problem riding it. Especailly on the double inline twist. I tend to find if i firmly push my cheekbone into the right hand side of the pads on the restraint i get get my head lodged so it won't move, but for most people it really is a problem that will cause them pain to their ears and will make them much less likely to ride again.
-
i wouldn't be surprised if when they do a new major attraction that they will spenda lot of money, because they have quite alot of captial more than they did 2 years ago the reassesment of the value of the park was mammoth so they have more equity to work with. Also I'd say that the investment on WWW was independant of DW as it in itself is really a seperate adventure and a deliberate effort to cut into villiage roadshow themeparks. I am all for it as well! i love dreamworld. Still reckon best and most crowd pullable would be dive machine certainly an australian first and barely any of them around the world for that matter. Boomarang looks boring in my view, shuttles or impulse or anything like that i think isn't worth it. a complete track rollercoaster is much better
-
Huss topspins, although larger are inferior to the Vekoma Waikiki super flip. I am not sure you can even buy Waikiki super flips anymore. There are more axis to work with then the Huss, looking at the Huss, it looks a little bit boring.
-
i'll say it again hehe, B & M custom diving machine. barely any exist. doesn't need a huge a huge footprint. first B&M in australia and first diving machine. they can hold pretty large capacities. They look very cool, they are smooth and reliable and i am sure people will want to ride it. and will come to the park to ride it. Also would be cool with a launch mechanism for extra rush
-
i'm all for custom B&M diving machine perhaps with a vertical lift or even a hydraulic or LIM launch. maybe semi indoors start for nice themeing then outdoors. for rest as it is quite a large ride, although siginficant amount could be held underground.

i think it somewhat amusing that you guys are playing around with the idea of an expedition everest, a ride of that size cost $100,000,000 USD, given that if it were much smaller it would be quite doable
