  1. BEAN - Mr. Bean goes to Pacific Park in Santa Monica, California.
  2. NineMSN is claiming that the largest floods in twenty years have hit, or will happen, in the Albert and Logan river systems and the Condamine rivers. The SES recieved "132 calls for help from residents on the Gold Coast and Beaudesert regions. The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued major flood warnings for the Logan and Albert rivers, south of Brisbane, and the Condamine River system near Warwick, in southern Queensland." - from NineMSN.com
  3. I recall them playing some of the songs from the Scooby Doo film soundtrack in Mainstreet, such as Words to Me by Sugar Ray, when SDSC first opened but I don't know if they still do.
  4. I think that's a bit of wishful thinking there . I don't think Australia will ever be "over" the drought. And, if it does, I don't think it will be for a long time...
  5. They are only going to make you fat if you are one of those people who continuously eats them...then you start to get pudgy. Everyone is always going on a rant about fast foods and how they'll make you fat. IF YOU EAT IT IN MODERATION IT WILL NOT MAKE YOU FAT. The people that get fat are the ones that eat fatty foods all the time, don't have balanced diets and don't excercise.
  6. Well that would be a reasonable and believable excuse...had we not heard about 5 others excuses from DW as to why it's not running.
  7. I wish DW was as blunt to their customers about what's happening with Eureka as they're being on the Odyssey website.
  8. It's funny you should mention that because I had a look at the motocoaster comments as well and there were some pretty good reviews....before it even opened Even some guy supposedly from the UK was rattling on about how thrilling it is. A bit suss if you ask me.
  9. Thanks for the report, Hawk and welcome to R-C.com.au. They had better figure out what is causing all those failures quickly. Three technical difficulties in one day is not good. I know it's still new, WnW is still trying to learn the ropes but it's more a mechanical error from the sounds of it and it's still a bit strange that machinery as new as this is failing so many times. WnW will have to make sure they maintain this ride properly, with all that water around the metal there is a high chance that the paint is going to fade pretty quickly, as well as the danger of bad rusting.
  10. If they are re-doing the track then they had better hurry up and work in fast forward, because there hasn't been any work done on it yet that we can see. Considering the fact that re-doing the track would supposedly be a job that would take quite a while, it would be quite fascinating if they can finish it in about 2 months (I'm aware that there are 3 months left in the year, but I don't expect that DW would actually start doing anything for a month, considering that Eureka has been lifeless for numerous months). If they are laying out new track, is it a different ride layout or is the track just being replaced with newer track?
  11. It looks ok for the first 10 seconds, but seems to slug along after that. I really think that it should have gone up a bit higher so that they could have down some larger drops to keep the speed up.
  12. I thought that there might be a small chance that MW wouldn't screw up these dodgems. Oh well, they'll find out out they've stuffed it soon empugh. Well, hiopefully. Hopefully people won't be that absent-minded to pay extra for something that shoul come included in admission.
  13. For those who have been to Paradise Country, what did you think of it? Itlooks to be a nice place, I just haven't been able to visit it before. It looks like a very nice setting, I am very fon of native Australian flora and fauna so I imagine that I would enjoy it. For those who don't know what it is, Paradise Country is an Australian farm where you can go on tours and learn about Australian culture, farming, flora and fauna. This is the website: http://www.paradisecountry.com.au/ Any info and/or feedback would be appreciated.
  14. I don't know about QLD, but NSW still has about 5 weeks to go.
  15. Yes they should be able to do that, but it's not going to be anything over 70km/h. And, judging by how fast TOT is launching now, we can probably expect to see this new coaster barely crawl past the first hill in ten years time.
  16. I don't think it looks westernish. It looks like a circus facade. Yuck. If Movie World opens an arcade in this area I think I'll pass out. The area already has no link with movies that I can see and an arcade make that link more distant. Opening an arcade would only continue to deteriorate the idea of paying for entry into theme parks and that's all you pay. MW and DW especially are introducing all these stupid things where you have to pay extra after you enter. Things like the rock-climbing walls and those R-C boats at DW and the lockers at SE in MW. It's ridiculous. Personally, I don't like the direction MW is heading. Their attractions seem to have less and less theming and it looks as though their theming is now steering away from movies. I mean, Batwing's theming was a hedge and some batmobiles. I reckon the least they could have done with that was have a different batmobile from each of the movies. That said, It's really good how well they've maintained their other well-themed areas of the park. I really hope that this new area does end up creating a link to movies. It's MovieWorld after all.
  17. I completely agree. I don't want some circus looking area in the middle of other movie themed areas. It'll be like a mini luna park <shudders>
  18. Nice one, Dreamworld /sarcasm. What do you think they will place there instead? I think it's safe to guess it will be racing themed, but will it still be fast food shops, or something new?
  19. 1. No-one has said that Mick Doohan is not Australian, don't know where you got that one... 2. Wherever you 'checked' that Mick Doohan is up there is up there with Sir Donald Bradman has obviously never made a mistake. No offence to Mick Doohan or anything, but seriously, Bradman was such an excellent sportsman he was knighted. I'm not saying Mick is a bad sportsman, he's just not as renowned as you are saying and is not really 'up there' with Bradman. Oh and in regards to your 2nd comment, you're still missing the entire point of this discussion. We are talking about the ride's theme (Motosport, that is) not being part of Australian culture. Never did we state that everything that is not to do with Australian culture must go. Although it would be nice to see the park be a little more Australian. And as you said, rides aren't really Australian. So the ride can't really be as Aussie as meat pies.
  20. You both seem to be completely missing the point of what Richard is saying... OK, you've said that there are billions of motosport fans in Australia. Alright, that's all well and good. This does not make it part of Australian culture. Australian meat pies and Kangaroos are part of Australian culture. They are uniquely Australian and are much more associated overseas than the MotoGP or the Megamoto supercup 2000 or whatever. I for one couldn't care less if Holden or Ford wins. I honestly could not sit and watch cars do 7 million laps of the same course. And I really don't see motosport as much of a sport anyway. Sure, the driver has to have some skill. But really, the car is doing most of the work. Edit: By the way, Ford isn't even Australian.
  21. Everything in that post was spot on. I don't think that I've ever watched a motor sport event for more than 5 or ten minutes. It's not very Australian at all. And I also strongly agree with what you said about how DW has lost their most uniquely Australian area. Rivertown and Gold Rush Country provide the most iconic Australian atmosphere IMO. I wonder how long it will be before Gold Rush starts to vanish like Rivertown.
  22. Well, vintage cars opened in a new location in early July. They can't really just leave it off the map until September. And they couldn't leave Nightmares on there until September either.
  23. It's just a sign of the times. I'm sure if you ask most youngsters what they'd prefer to watch, they'd rather see an action-packed american cartoon over a classic australian kids programme.
