  1. We would pull the front up like this guy but if you did it to early you could fall backwards and hit your head on the slide. I also think it was easier to make the net before they replaced the ply boards with plastic ones.
  2. You weren’t riding it right unless you made the catch net.
  3. Media? Try the organisers scaring everybody away and pissing the locals off. The Commonwealth Games did an awful job of making the locals feel included in the games.
  4. For the credit whores out and about, Jungle Twist is currently at NightQuarter.
  5. It was approved on the 01/03/2018 not 2 days ago.
  6. First Nations Ceremony held tonight at Dreamworld.
  7. My questions for John is; Why he never finished off the steam train project he started on his property at Tamborine Mountain?
  8. Fine Push, it looks like I get to keep the winners trophy.
  9. SOMETIMES it pays to know who you’re sledging on social media. On the back of this week’s announcement by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk that all Commonwealth Games athletes and volunteers would receive free entry to Village Roadshow Theme Parks during GC2018, it didn’t take long for online cynics to come out in force. Amid cries that the offer would add more cars to the M1 and ignored year-round volunteers, one Facebook user asked: “Who’s really paying for this? Nothing is free.” When a couple of respondents suggested taxpayers would be footing the bill, Clark Kirby posted: “This is completely funded by Village Roadshow, not the State Government.” But Anne Wieland was having none of that. “Clark Kirby, you are hilarious,” she posted before adding: “Where did you get that idea? At no stage was it said that Village Roadshow was donating the free tickets, nor was Village Roadshow there to do any dual announcement as I am quite sure they would not miss a publicity opportunity. “Maybe you should go and ask The Chook just exactly who is paying for it.” Cue Clark Kirby’s contender for Facebook comeback of the year. “Hi there, Anne,” he replied. “I am actually the CEO of Village Roadshow Theme Parks and I can confirm we will be absorbing the full cost of this initiative. “I really hope people can accept this for what it is — a goodwill gesture to the athletes coming to our beautiful city and a thank you to the volunteers that make it possible. All the best.” Not surprisingly, the “foot in mouth” exchange drew howls of emoji laughter from other Facebook users. “Burned Anne, burned,” posted one, while another had a suggestion all social media users would be wise to heed before leaping into an online debate. “Anne Wieland, oh dear,” she posted. “You should have done your research before firing back.” From the GC Bulletin.
  10. @Richard Do you think these are the prices for the hardcore golfer on the ground level or is there more to come? And the winner is push.
  11. JOINT STATEMENT Premier and Minister for Trade The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk Minister for Innovation and Tourism Industry Development and Minister for the Commonwealth Games The Honourable Kate Jones Tuesday, March 20, 2018 Premier launches free tickets for athletes and volunteers Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has today announced Village Roadshow will give all athletes and volunteers free access to their four Gold Coast theme parks during the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The Premier met with Village Roadshow CEO Clark Kirby and members of Movie World’s ‘Justice League’ cast to make the announcement at Parliament House today. “We want to make sure the 600,000 visitors who come to Queensland for the Games return in years to come,” the Premier said. “A big part of that revolves around partnering with local businesses to make sure athletes have a great experience while they’re here and share that with millions of people around the globe. “That’s why I’m proud to announce that Village Roadshow has agreed to give free access to their theme parks to all athletes and volunteers for the duration of the Games. “Any athlete or volunteer who, on a day off, wants to go to either Sea World, Movie World, Wet’n’Wild and Paradise Country will get free entry. “And today I’m looking forward to meeting Wonder Woman and the whole Justice League team along with some of our hard working volunteers to spruik this announcement - because it’s also about giving back to the people who have made the Games possible.” Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones said it was important to recognise the volunteers who had already started to work at Games venues in the lead-up to the opening ceremony. “We’ve trained more than 15,000 volunteers who are selflessly giving their time to make sure we deliver the best Commonwealth Games of all time,” she said. “It’s great that Village Roadshow have recognised them for their hard work as well. “What makes the Gold Coast such an important visitor destination is the variety of its tourism offering – from the natural beauty of the hinterland and the beaches, to the theme parks and the nightlife. “Village Roadshow are an important part of that mix and we’ll continue to work with them on tourism opportunities in the future.” Village Roadshow Theme Parks CEO Clark Kirby said Village Roadshow was Australia's largest theme park operator and he was proud to showcase the parks during GC2018. “We are excited to offer athletes and volunteers the opportunity to experience our world-class rides and attractions while they are here on the Gold Coast,” he said. “The parks will provide a great opportunity for athletes to simply relax and have some fun outside of the fierce competition taking place. “It is also a fantastic way for us to say thank you to the thousands of hard-working volunteers who will be helping throughout the period.
  12. Version 1 had it all over version 2. The seat layout was the same as the Log Ride. For the kiddies, “Yes we rode version 1 with no seat belts”. Good read Parkz.
  13. This project was so close to become a reality in Brisbane that it wouldn't surprise me if the film was already in production before DW took over the project. https://www.parkz.com.au/article/2017/11/14/564-Dreamworlds_plans_for_a_simulator_will_face_tough_competition.html http://www.couriermail.com.au/questnews/brisbane-will-have-a-new-flying-theatre/news-story/d6520de885dee57ff0e4c3adce6e5452 " 29th May, 2017, Brogent and Australian production company Cutting Edge celebrated the lensing ceremony event for their latest ride film production effort. The Director of Taipei Economic and Cultural office in Brisbane, Queensland state government officials and Brisbane city government officials all witnessed the start of the cooperation between Brogent and Cutting Edge to produce a flying theater ride film in Australia. " I wish you were wrong because the unfixed I-Ride looks like a better option for a thrill seeker. The fixed I-Ride comes with seat belts but who knows what DW will do with it. Dw might go with the Glad Wrap model.
  14. Cutting Edge have a I-Ride Australia web page. http://www.cuttingedge.com.au/case-study/i-ride-australia/ Cutting Edge created a unique immersive experience for theme park technologists Brogent Technologies. Titled ‘i-Ride’ the 4D theatre allows participants to fly over iconic Australian scenery. Imagine hot air ballooning through the Barossa Valley or paragliding over Australia’s Snowy Mountains, while wind, sound, scents, light and water droplets envelop the theatre ride around you. This configuration of the I-Ride on the Cutting Edge web page, I have never seen. ((interesting)or not?))
  15. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Tiger Island & Corroboree expansion, Vintage Cars with koalas (DW's answer to swim with the sharks at SW) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Still to come this year, Trolls walkthrough & Flyover Australia. Don't forget the expanded entertainment line-up. Ice cream singers, dancers and the stupid fun patrol.
  16. Mwahahaha, 30 bucks will do it though. </sarcasm> Mwahahaha, less than a year ago you wanted us to pay $230.00 and now $129.00 is not ok.
  17. Another sad day in DW’s history brought to you by AL. After close to 18 months AL still have no master plan forward and how to get out of this mess.
  18. The conveyor belt has always been different from other Rapids Rides being as shown in TPG 1996 home video RR had every second board missing. At some point after this the boards were reconfigured to have 2 boards missing. The operation procedure leading up to the accident is questionable in my eyes because when the pumps failed it was common to leave the guest on the ride while the water was fired up again. Having guest on a ride during a restart is not normal. If a coaster stops running guest are removed from the ride and a test run is always carried out before they let guest back on the ride again.
  19. Everything you have written is or was speculation. Fast Skeets facts. The conveyer spacing is larger than any other Rapids Ride that I have seen. I have poured over hundreds of photos and I would like somebody to point out the location of the sensor where the raft was stuck in the way because I can’t see it. If a sensor is to fail wouldn’t the same plc that tells the conveyor to stop pick up the sensor failure. Did the rail system in the load/unload station play a role? Which I also believe is a DW first. Who decided the water level was ok? Did the water level min requirement change when the revolving platform was removed? What about when the rail system was built? You have discarded all “Skeets fast fact” issues which happen to be the main differences between DW Rapid Rides and all other Rapids Rides. Some which I know happened before Ardent came on board like building the unload stop location so close to the conveyor belt. (a dumb idea by an engineer by the way)
  20. My opinion wasn't formed overnight and I too also wanted to show support to DW. Within weeks of DW reopening I purchased passes for my family. What’s your opinion on TRR?
  21. I believe Ardent put their own interests ahead of guest and this includes ride safety. 100%, I don't believe Ardent have the right people/companies in place to make the decisions they are making. Clearly it didn’t work with TRR but Ardent continue with this practise. Ardent go against what everyone else in the world is doing. No other theme park has a roof over their flume ride and no other Disk-O in the world ties you to the seat. When the wheel assembly failed on the GL, MW went back to SS for them to fix the problem. If DW’s Disk-O has a problem than the solution is not to tie the guest to the seat but to fix the original problem. Ardents practise of going out on their own and going the cheapest option (RHLR roof) gives me no confidence they are doing it for the right reasons. The roof didn’t go on the RHLR to stop me falling out, it went up to stop me suing Ardent.
  22. I once loved DW but I'm not willing to put my daughter on a ride till Ardent is gone. I have no confidence in DW.
  23. @themagician is that by choice?. I liked the area many years ago but bulldozing it and starting with a clean canvas is the way to go. If this is to be a new themed world within DW what do people want? I hope DW have a masterplan for the use of this land and we don’t end up with 2 Ocean Parades.
