  1. <edited> You are right, and I am wrong (in fact I was one of the people who 'shot it down'). I apologise.
  2. You're still going to introduce debris if you use the raft conveyor - plus you'll need all sorts of additional guards and safety systems to allow the ground operator to halt the lift, retrieve the belongings etc. People just need to leave their shit at the bottom. Thats what happens in most parks. Of course - AW does have this problem, which whilst i'm sure isn't unique, is a lot rarer. They're working on fixes, but anything that necessitates people wearing something that is then sent down the hill using any of the slide infrastructure - its a bad idea.
  3. ...because that's the job of the slide? Plus a raft conveyor isn't built to take things down - the mechanic side of things are underneath too - there's no clearance - plus the bottom of it is underwater...
  4. But who cares? All they had to do was just keep posting and not care about the date?
  5. they do something like this for Wedgie at DW - they have a bunch of mesh bags they can send down... it is a slow process though as they won't let the next rider in until the bag has been received at the end. I could see this sort of thing happen where the rider is the next person down (easy to know whose is whose), but if you only sent it every 5 rides, potentially thats 20 pairs of footwear to sort through for the operator each time. Not to mention - people can have anything on their thongs (sand mostly) which would increase the amount of debris going into the pool and into the filter system.... it's a no from me.
  6. I don't know much about your show Tim, but i'm not sold that it was what I was referring to.
  7. All of the discussion to-date has been about a potential reopening in 2015. I just don't see that it is necessary for every tom, dick and Yoshi to start back-seat modding just because we've completed another revolution around the sun.
  8. We don't yet know what the park has planned for these new precincts, and whether any of these parts will fit into or take over any show stage land... if they are to go for a new show stage show, I hope it isn't a corny childrens character song and dance, but rather a more upscale production - a stunt show, magic show or similar.

  10. It says 'potential reopening'. no change required... if it said 'definite reopening' you'd have a case.
  11. ^suspended, and made by B&M, refurbished by Mack, with fire sensing eyes at the front, inside a showbuilding with an cantilevered roof to vent smoke...
  12. i caught most of part 1. looking forward to the rest. It is available on DVD, apparently at Dymocks or JB Hi Fi
  13. I think DW has focused more on the 'worlds' rather than the 'dreams' and there is a lot more they can do with the 'world' tag. Anything can be a world... not everything can be a dream. Depending on who you are, you could just as easily consider 'walking with a tiger' to be as much a dream as 'swim with a dolphin'... so the experiences are there... but i think the VRTP group have a better offering overall to the average family. Dreamworld have said for a while that their focus was to refurb a few things before bringing out a big ride... they've done their refurb and i'd say they already have a ride on the cards to be ready before the GCCG... its just whether it will compete with VRTP, and to be honest, to do that - they're going to need to do well. On the flip side - since SoundStage 9 will be on the same lot as the existing studio\theme park complex, there isn't any additional parking... hopefully people aren't 'scared off' from MW\WnW by the lack of parking brought on by the additional visitation....
  14. Cue complaints about wasting water.... lol. You will never please everyone. Personally, I've always found the best thing in a hot queueline was never shade (many shade structures at parks actually make it hotter underneath as the airflow is interrupted \ blocked) - Mark, I know you guys have thrown a lot of extra cash at post-opening improvements to the path, queue and all round - but if i may make just one more... Misting systems \ fan systems. As a former cast member at Wonderland Sydney - I know all too well how how queuelines will make guests. Wonderland's Snowy River Rampage had a long queue (especially on hot days when everyone just wanted to cool down!!!) and it was hemmed in on both sides by log fences to prevent people from entering the flume envelope - this unfortunately prevented air flow. Irrigation pipes (the kind you buy from bunnings for your garden) were fixed along the roofline of the queue, with little misting jets spaced out along the queue. Instant relief! (not to mention - it was almost as good as the ride itself to cool off!!). Other parks i've been to have had fans with mist jets mounted in front of them, oscillating over the queue. Either of these could be done within the queue races fairly cheaply (provided you have a tap up there!), and could also be extended down the hill if you really wanted to go the extra mile (might double as a lawn sprinkler too!). I think this would be the epitome of guest service... just my $0.02
  15. He said the fries looked to be the same as what was sold elsewhere in the park, but were "nothing special and far too much". He was mid-description so i doubt he was talking about the price of the fries, as far too much doesn't suggest an elevated price in this context. I think you're stretching, and at any rate - as you weren't the OP of those comments, you're in no better position than I to judge that context. Ordering food at a counter, bar, touch screen or speaker box, and then going and sitting down to await the delivery of your order is not table service. Table service is where the waiter comes TO your table to take your order... ie: being served AT YOUR TABLE. I offer the following in support of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foodservice#Table_service https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Types_of_restaurant To be fair - we're both kinda off the mark on this one - not entirely right, but not wrong either. I didn't say it was never the last thing you ate - only few actual cases of food poisoning occur that quickly... \ rarely the last thing you ate. Your articles support the fact that whilst it could be the last thing you ate, it can also be other things. My main issue with what he said was that he stated, unequivocally, that the brand new burger joint gave him food poisoning - however it did not appear that there was any medical evidence for it, and that gastro illnesses are rarely so simply explained as 'must've been the last thing I ate'... I didn't think it was a fair statement to the staff and to the park without at least allowing for alternatives. There's also a really bad gastro bug going around now - and given it's easy transmission on contaminated surfaces - spending a day at a theme park, touching hand rails, safety bars \ grab rails, queue rails, food service countertops - all of these public access surfaces are far more likely to have been the cause of his illness than a rare-cooked burger... especially when gourmet burgers at sit down restaurants can frequently be ordered medium rare...
  16. ^I always use the 1% rule - for every complaint posted on social media, there are 99 other people who had a great time. However there is also the bandwagon formula which says: ...for every standalone complaint posted on social media, a further 10 people will claim to have had the exact same experience, despite never raising a complaint previously.
  17. Are you complaining that you received TOO MANY FRIES? Do you mean that you get to sit at a table, or do you mean that wait staff bring your food to your table (which is the correct definition of 'Table Service') and if so - which bloody Maccas are you dining at to receive actual table service??? Drama much? Sounds like you had this as an early dinner yesterday, and you posted about this mid-morning today. Few actual cases of food poisoning occur that quickly - it is rarely the last thing that you ate. If the dreamworld burger legitimately gave you food poisoning, you should have seen a doctor by now, so that the health department could be notified and an inspection of the food prep areas done immediately. I'll bet you've done none of that, which will indicate it wasn't that bad, and\or it wasn't that that caused it. Burgers are only grey at fast food joints. Proper burgers should be cooked a bit more on the rarer side to be juicy and succulent. Its probably the first time you've seen a gourmet burger cooked properly, as McDonalds "gourmet" burgers are always grey. In the future, you should indicate whether you have proof of this sort of allegation, or whether it is just an opinion. Short of a health department inspection, i'm going to assume you're just being a DQ.
  18. At least Wiki makes it easy to trace his tracks to see what he fucks up... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Totta3
  19. These days, World Best can be defined many different ways. It can just be a good marketing angle, or it can be something really special. You don't need to blow your wad for something to be world best. Kraken is a perfect example - take a standard attraction model, and stretch it further than anyone else ever has - and you have longest, tallest, fastest all wrapped up. I would like to see VRTP drop a bundle on something really special, but MW has long craved an assortment of well themed flats to round out the park, and in my experience, most movie parks don't do this, as flats are not the best to theme to the movie experience and most people are looking for just that - the movie experience. Even USH and USS are mostly E-ticket attractions, supported by less than a handful of smaller flats. Although this opinion is likely unpopular - i'd like to see them go with several well done flats to thicken the parks lineup - TailSpin is a good example of the kind of thing they should be looking for (although i'm not suggesting they buy an Air Race - two parks with near identical attractions would be just a waste). Whilst it's definitely possible that this new attraction will be a flat, i'm confident we'll see a blockbuster... the park is well overdue, and it needs something else to pull people back after the publicity that GL received. I only hope that whatever it is - its a capacity monster. The park cannot suffer another addition without greatly improving either its capacity or its operations.
  20. I have faith that the theming for this one is going to be something any one of us could be happy with.
  21. Does that mean with your limited finances, you won't be getting a VRTP pass?
