The Parkz Update Warner Bros. Movie World, July 2010
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
There were some in the graveyard that popped up and sunk down, i think one of them breathed in and out too.... there was also the one that had a sound like indian drums... there were a few animatronic ones in there. -
HAHAHAHAHAHA..... I had to stop and think for a minute what this post ^^^^^ was talking about and realised its a suggestion on what they should do with the river ride land.... i thought - WOW - that conversation has been gone for a while.... hehehe...

WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Intamin's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I take it you mean it is closer to the front of the existing plot, rather than pushed back as far as they can go leaving the wasted space on the INSIDE of the park boundaries? My opinion - the park is bloody huge as it is, why position it even further back and make even MORE distance to walk to get from one side of the park to the other? -
The Parkz Update Warner Bros. Movie World, July 2010

If we're talking about the red\green laser on the "Crashed street" float - they weren't there on my first visit (2nd night) but were there on sunday. I can't remember the model number but they're quite fully featured compact lasers, and go well on an audio trigger also. It seems they've fixed the smoke issues somewhat too - so those low-mounted travelling lasers have a great effect as the float moves down the street.... i'm sure there will be more comments once i've actually read the update.... -
Bottom pic is definitely speakers. I was sitting under one on sunday afternoon - and you can tell it is as there is a VERY slight delay between it and the ones mounted on the screen at the top of main street. Very nicely done, very unobtrusive. As to the device mounted on the top of the control room \ photo building, it looks like a bottle of fog\snow\bubble fluid next to it??? I'm assuming some special effect machine, but not sure what, because the bubble machines are located a lot lower, and can't see a point in puting a smoker that high - it'd all blow away.... i'm looking to Rappa for this one...

I am pleased to report the disco room is flooded with smoke - so much so that the exit room had reduced visibility under the fluoro lighting. The green lasers bouncing off the mirrors down each side ARE BACK!!!. The red laser IS NOT ONLY VISIBLE.... but it ACTUALLY DOES SOMETHING! It may not be the spooky effect we are used to with the old green laser - but it is more than just a red dot at the back wall. Either someone paid attention to my comments above, or someone in that park just finally bothered to do something about it on their own. The sound in the lift shaft is cranked right up - you can here Daphne calling scooby quite clearly. The front doors at the load station still don't close, and scooby was CLEARLY lit up the entire time, however the rest of the effects (excepting the creature that falls down from above right before the swinging blades - its just plain missing, but the sound effects are still there) - the rest of the effects in the ghost train part of the ride are perfect, and I cannot praise enough. Much additional effort has gone into scooby again since my last ride, less than a month ago - i'll give it a "best as it's ever been" tag at this point.

I wasn't questioning their choices - just the reasons given for them - longest ride time, best capacity, less queue time, and more fun. I can't question the fun, it's all personal opinion, but WWF beats wipeout on ride time, capacity, and queue time is hit n miss. I've got no problem with someone favouriting one or the other - both are good, solid attractions - the reasons just didn't make sense - so I queried them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, just as others are entitled to comment on those opinions, by sharing their own views.

Good waterpark in sydney melbourne or between?

so long as you aren't flying between sydney and canberra, your best bet is going to be Jamberoo. -
WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster

From the video's i've seen of Wedgie, it is, in fact, translucent. Unless the entire tube is pitch black (like black hole), then the tubing is, in fact, translucent. Now, a TRANSPARENT slide would be cool, but I don't think Wedgie is, and I seriously doubt Aqua Loop will be either. -
My last visit, I was in the queue station for approx 4 minutes - and the entry doors NEVER closed. During that time, the light was ALWAYS on. As to my choice of words: In my own opinion, the operation is deficient, as it is lacking some effects that made the attraction in it's hey day. As my response was to a comment "as good as ever", my statement that there are deficiencies in current operation, when compared to "as good as ever" is a valid one. The current effects are inadequate, as a red laser does not mask the drop like the green one. Insufficient, as a blue\red room laser, in a room that is lit with deep red light, is not as highly visible as high power, high speed green lasers flitting across the room and bouncing off lasers. The current effects fall short of the standard established by the original effect set up. The persons involved in the implementation of the current range of effects should not take this personally, and again, it is just an opinion, which I am entitled.

Wipeout has a longer ride time than Wild West Falls? And WWF might not take as many people per gondola, but the gondola per hour means the queue runs a lot quicker than wipeout (on a busy day).

And the dreamworld broadcast cannot be picked up - because it isn't a BROADCAST. I believe it is cabled, but even if a park were to send their ambience over the air, they'd only be doing it narrocast, so you wouldn't pick it up far beyond the borders of the park. As to replacing the ads with their own - a lot of stations (especially regional stations) do this live. National broadcasters like Macquarie radio etc come out of stations like Radio 2UE via the Sky radio network using what they call a "digital courier". The signal essentially uses the live broadcast of the main (or origin) station. The broadcast is punctuated with inaudible tones, called "pulses". The human ear cannot hear the pulses, but the receiving \ re-broadcasting station has a receiver tuned to the satellite that picks up the pulse. Each pulse means something different - eg Pulse 1 may mean "queue hourly news intro" and Pulse 2 may mean "run next queued advertisement". The pulse receiver then triggers a computer at the receiving end to play whatever the pulse tells it to play - and there goes your "dreamworld ads" overlaid ontop of the Sea FM broadcast. (I am not saying DW actually does do this to the live Sea FM broadcast - i'm just posing a hypothetical as to how it may be achieved if set up that way.)

For those slow on the uptake - 1991-2010 is 19 years.

final drop laser is a given. I realise the problems with reinstating the previous lasers, but the green lasers hitting the side-mirrors and bouncing all around just made the disco room, much better than the coloured laser. Look the coloured laser certainly is a great effect, but it's not as visible. The comment i replied to was "as good as ever". THe coloured laser is good. I'm not saying its BAD, just different. The ghost train part doesn't have the same quality it used to - some of the animatronics aren't on the same timing \ they look tired, and the spotlighting on some of the effects (for instance - the first scooby after the station) never turns off - so while you're queueing in the station, you can see the start of the storyline. The lift sound effects - "scooby... scooby doo where are you?" and the wind effects are almost non existent. (Last ride where I observed this was the last weekend of June). Smoke presence in the disco room isn't as good as previous - but this may just be the fact it isn't AS visible without such a BRIGHT green laser.
-
Rappa did mention a while ago that the steam and fire will never come back - apparently both effects relied on a gas line that was plugged and capped during the construction of jet rescue.
-
as good as ever? there are still a few deficiencies in the ride's current operation....
-
A video? You mean a slideshow, right? And in bearing reference to the topic - does it contain diego?
-
Good find Shadow. Not sure if thats an official release, but it does contain decent quality (and some inside) footage. The liftoff of the rocket from the HWSD set is pretty crude, but apart from that, top notch work - and it sums up the goings on at MW for this holiday period - so anybody that hasn't, or can't see the parade - get a look at this to see what you're missing!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

THats not ENTIRELY a bad idea - but to do it now would seem like trying to tag onto something most guests would have no idea about (your average guest is unaware of what has just happened in florida). Wait until november, when the next movie hits the cinemas, and make it a christmas holidays special - make a crap load of money on the concept without a long term drain on staffing etc. I'm sure the licensing for the recipe could be shared around considering it is a (not owned by) Warner Bros park... (oh - and dibs on tickets to the australian premiere if they do it at WB again) -

Sea World 2010 (Castaway Bay & Antarctic Penguins)
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to themeparkgc's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I spoke too soon in the other thread... If in fact they are getting different species in, then i'm all for it. Fairy penguins are common (and I refuse to call them "little" penguins) in just about every marine park in the world. To get some of the more exotic species in a custom habitat would be great. Besides nothing says we can't chuck all the penguins into one enclosure? could be interesting... But saying why would you want more - it's like saying we didn't need shark bay because we had one in a tank down the front, or we didn't need ray reef because we had rays in shark bay... -
