  1. Thought these might be of interest to you guys as well. The speedboats look like they're getting more use but it all still seems empty
  2. I was there this week and the old trains are still sitting near the old pirate ship site but there isnt any new trains that i could see. just a lot of fences and not much else...
  3. I agree. Why get over it when it's supposed to be a professional show and minor things like that should really be spot on? If they want to offer a "world class" show (which i don't believe it is anywhere near, but for the sake of the argument i'll say it is), everything should be polished. And i will even give them a month or two to smooth it out but if they can't get something simple like that right, then its a bit hard to just get over it...
  4. I don't mean to double post, but on my random stumblings through flickr i found this today http://www.flickr.com/photos/87791108@N00/...57594161832772/ talk about a heritage. Sure, they had added an extra tier but that's a piece of history that should be definitely kept...
  5. i know, but how much more impressive is a flip off a ski ramp? That's one of the things that the Ski Show had over this new show. The fact that not everyone can jump behind a speedboat, find a ski lake with a jump and start doing flips and tricks and stunts that require skill and talent. Looking at that tape, if I wanted to be a star in the new show, i could go out, but a trampoline, practice my flips etc and then be able to do exactly the same thing. I obviously can't speak for the rest of the show, but it still seems like crap
  6. Wouldn't surprise me if they did get rid of it though. I mean, look at the ski show. Obviously they didn't care that that was their history and the very first attraction before they were even in their current site. I'm sorry to say it, but I don't think we'll be seeing the train run again in the near future...
  7. WOO! A flip! Man, this show is going to blow the audience away! What a joke. I still can't see the logic behind bringing this show in. It's already late, and by the look of it, its nowhere near ready to open anyway. Unless they're hiding anything good about the show from the public, this show is already a negative for the park. I agree with Mickey, how can Seaworld not notice that this is so dodgy!! I won't be in a hurry to see this i don't think.
  8. But my gripe is that they took out a show that was above excellent, to put in a show that was late to start construction, was substandard to begin with (and it wasn't until the public saw it that they realised), and will now be late to open. I just have a hard time accepting the fact that this is all for the better because i don't think that it has been the right decision. I haven't heard if the show is over/under budget so it would be interesting to find that out. also Alex, what exactly was so substandard about MDMC? I'm interested to find out, and not in any sort of argumentative way
  9. Last year they had a maze in the Leathal Weapon alley and that really wasn't anything to write home about. I have to say that the first one was great, because everyone was really into it, and even though it was for kids, it was still great fun for adults too. It doesn't seem that scary from what i've heard the year, but i think that they would have more chance of pulling crowds if it was more family orientated. Just my opinion though
  10. So, what they mean is..."the show really isn't that good and when we showed the public they said so. So, we better put back the opening so we can make it a third or possibly second class show that the can be passable for now" Man, WVTP are making not just bad decisions, but terrible ones.
  11. I was of the understanding that this was their 3rd or 4th year doing this? I definitely remember going to one last year and I'm pretty sure I went to one the year before that. This is i believe the first time they've done so many nights though.
  12. What a complete waste of time, effort and money. Especially because we've already hit the holiday period and it's not ready, and also considering they didn't seem to be in a hurry to start construction and rehersals as soon as the ski show was regrettably cancelled. I hope they do cancel it, just so they can see an error in their ways. I might go this week and see if its going yet
  13. I've been against the new show from the start. I'm all for changes, but to completely scrap the old show for a completely different show is a bit extreme. I'm all for closing down the lake for the old staff to come back and make a completely new show. Have they actually started doing the show? Or has it been flushed already?
  14. could have something to do with the sun hitting a black pipe and heating the water quite significantly? I find that it is also quite humid whilst actually on the slide.
  15. I'm not quite sure actually, I only noticed that the buildings were pretty much black or grey, but i didnt notice the caravan...
  16. i was at seaworld a couple of saturdays ago and they.ve moved the endeavour over to where the ski boats used to be stored with some trampolines put in along the front. They've painted the buildings on the island and thats about it. An interesting note though is that the ski ramp is up the back near the old pirate ship site just sitting there, so that may be used in the new show (even though i highly doubt it). Still unhappy about this show and even if it's good, it will be bittersweet for me.
  17. i do believe you called WWW bare in one of your previous posts. And, as the chairlift stations and poles don't get in the way of anything current, why bother spending all of the money to remove it? The station in Gold Rush Country adds to the theming i think with the big wheels etc, but each to their own and i'm not going to tell you your wrong. It sounds like you thoroughly dislike dreamworld yet you essentially work for the same company as them. I'm not having a go at you, I'm just genuinely curious as to how you work for the same company as a business that you dislike so much...
  18. yeah, that happened quite a long time ago around the same time WWW opened. The large white tent that now houses AVPX used to sit on that concrete slab and was called The Dream Room and was used as a function room of sorts as well as Angoscia, The Freezer and The Mummy. Also, www worker, do u actually work at WWW? Because you have quite a negative view on your workplace if you do, and I'm curious as to why you would work somewhere that you seem to think isn't up to scratch...
  19. So can you honestly say that the show is the very best that it can be? And that this show is 100% better than PASS? Because i think that HWSD is nowhere near the standard that PASS had, nor the replay value. Yes, the drivers are talented but it lacks good solid entertainment value. Its good to see once, but after that its not really worth seeing again unless there's nothing to do. The first time i saw it, i went in with no expectations and left feeling slightly cheated. But i brushed off most of that on early in the pieces life, but after seeing it with 4 police cars 6 months ago, and then to hear that they were using less, and then this thread came up and i had new hope but still felt disappointed by the end of it. I was waiting for the rest of my party to come off the SDSC and i saw the old stage that used to be used for the loony toons shows etc and it got me thinking about the old shows and how HWSD lacks that physical values. Its not a hobby either, and what the hell, saying to become an ambulance chaser or visiting a cancer ward? We're talking about a stunt show here, not about getting some perspective in life. Overall, the show didn't live up to the hype, and although there has been improvements, i won't deny that, it isn't world class yet, but hopefully it will be in the near future because it definately has the ability to
  20. Back on the subject, I went to Movieworld today and saw the stunt show again today. The doors are a huge improvement over the vinyl ones, however there were no bricks for the final jump. There was only the two Police cars, the motorbike, and the two red cars. I still feel like the show is lacking in physical stunts and comedy. "Marty" provides some laughs but there isn't any of the human element that PASS had like the scaffold and the running into walls etc. I'm not saying that what the drivers do is easy, but i still stand by my opinion that it is 4 or 5 guys drifting and doing doughnuts. Sure, its called Hollywood Stunt Driver and I know that people will pull me up and say that its stunt driving and that's why its called that and what do i expect from a show of that name etc. It seems like they need something with that physical aspect. PASS had the ability to be viewed three times in one day whereas HWSD has the "one a month" or "when you take someone who hasn't seen it" viewing rate. So i think it may be time to bring back something like the Wild West Stunt Show that can solely be physical. Or, if that isn't an option, maybe try to include something else in the show, ie maybe jumping off a roof or similar or hitting a motorbike and crashing over the bonnet or just anything that breaks up a still somewhat monotonous display of drifting... So rival81, i would have to respectfully disagree based on the show i saw today and one that i saw a month or so which i found to be not much different to todays one. If i got a lemon of a show then I am disappointed but i understand that some shows are better than others. I would still like to see something with people rather than just vehicles.
  21. news to me. I have heard that something big may be happening but i think that go-karts and a slingshot would be a bit far fetched and a little bit "small" for something thats supposed to be "BIG". And i couldnt see something like a slingshot, especially with such small capacity, going in and pouring a track for go-karts would be a waste of money in my opinion.
  22. The temporary fence around the Green Room and Hydrocoaster is for Maintenance while the fence that you can see towards the back of Tiger Island and Flowrider near the Engineering Shed has been there for almost a year and is used to keep staff from parking over the access road that runs down to the back of the park.
  23. I would have to bring back the studio tour, with newer movies and special effects etc, so it would be more like the universal studios tours...and bring back the cowboy stunt show/modify the current stunt show to have more humour and an actual point.
  24. Does anybody know when the pirate show is supposed to begin construction/showing? I was at Seaworld on Saturday and I walked in and there was nothing in the lake. The ramp has been moved to up near the endeavour near the old pirate ship, the paddle boats are going and thats about it. If construction doesn't start soon (ie. within a couple of weeks) I'm going to have to say that the planning for the new show is completely ridiculous. So far, I'm going to say its a complete waste of a perfectly good ski lake...
