  1. totally! some sort of Marvin the Martian thing would work as well I'm glad we havn't seen the animatronics on the back of a truck, they could re-use these in a shootemup as well
  2. i dont know how many times I have posted this in one thread or another - but please let the new attraction be in the same vein as buzz lightyear at disney amazing ride - you can re-ride and still get a lot of enjoyment out of it... please mw! theme it to the wb characters if you want - just give us a family ride everyone can love
  3. No one was pressing a button con. Just good timing. Foghorn's left arm would begin to raise and when it was around shoulder height he would begin to talk. it was up to the operator to keep up with the animatronics, not the other way around.. and trust me - after 40+ times doing that pre-show every day - you get use to the timing pretty quick
  4. Hey guys, I didn't see this elsewhere, but THeme Park Review is currently touring Aus theme parks and they have posted a couple awesome POV's of Scooby with the lights on and Also superman escape. These POV were filmed with the permission of wvtp and are the best quality I have seen. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=58546&start=60 Link to the embedded videos. It's also interesting to read what some uber theme park fans think of our parks Nate
  5. From what I've read previously, the area is the "exotic animal exhibit" and will showcase animal visitors To the park. Starting with the white lions and them once they are gone a new animal will come in. That's how I read it nehoo.
  6. Does anyone know when the rides will be announced??? Any guesses? Nate
  7. Was reading through this post going - wow look at all these posters who have come out of the woodwork (pardon the pun) not realising it was bumped by joz. haha Im happy with either. I've never ridden a woodie and think they look pretty impressive, but steel is all I know so that's where I'm sending my vote.
  8. Don't get me wrong - I know it's a giant leap of faith to go from "pirate flag" to "castaway bay" clone! A part of me kinda hopes dw will put out clues about the new attractions! Clues are more exciting then just a flat media release with all the details. Third time asking this now - why do you guys want a woodie??? What's the appeal? If admin wants to create a new topic to keep this chat separate that's cool. I truly am curious what makes a woodie so good? Nate
  9. My post was on topic. Why the love for a woodie? What's the big drawcard? Also bmull, I thought your post was stupid because the amount of time It took to post that you could have just posted "hey, when I was on the train I saw a pirate flag where the water slides use to be" Moving forward, I wouldnt put it past dw to create a water play zone Aka castaway bay. How much did that cost Seaworld?
  10. That would be awesome Gazza!! Come on, 5398 more posts to go!!!! Oh Hang on... The majority of those 5398 members were probably spoken down to by overzealous board administrators and couldnt be bothered dealing with it anymore. Funny that hey... 5400 members but only a handful of actual posters... Each to their own I guess hey Gazza? You must feel so proud to be an administrator of a board with so Many members but so few active posters... Just out of interest.. Why do you guys think that is?? It certaintly can't be the warm and fuzzy feeling posters get from you can it? Or do you prefer sealing off this community from outsiders, or those who think or react differently from you? So come on, my 5398 Brothers and sisters, come and post. I don't think they will... Better to be dictater of 20 then run a democracy of 5398 ? Back on topic - I've never ridden a woodie before.. For those of you who have ridden a woodie - what's the big difference ? Why all the excitement about a wooden coaster?
  11. Ok but seriously, i was driving by the other day and that servo that's next door had a lot of big trucks parked there. I think this is definite proof that a huge delivery was made recently!!! I got really excited so pulled over and asked one of the truckies what he was hauling and he said it was none of my business.. There you have it!!! Proof that Dreamworld are building a woodie. I mean, why would there be so much secrecy about some trucks parked near Dreamworld if it wasn't for a rollercoaster! They smelt like wood - the trucks did! So this is definitive proof. Also, one of the truckies was eating an Easter egg and wearing a boating cap, so we can probably deduce that the woodie will be open by easter and that it's going to be onthe lake near the paddle wheeler!!! Big news guys and I totally had to share this!!!! Now, pure speculation on my part, but I think the trains are going to be painted black with red stripes! What do you think? And I don't want to fuel the rumours, but that ladder you saw is actually Part of the lethal weapon demolition. They are taking out a few bolts every day slowly, and then are just going to close it once they only have a few bolts left. I was told all this by a staff member who was cleaning some vomit off the sidewalk near lethal so it must be true! The obviously high up employee also told me that the river ride is actually goin to reopen as the river ride II, and the boats will be going BACKWARDS!!! how sweet will this be!!!
  12. Omg! You should have put a spoiler alert on that!!!! That is one of the funniest things I've seen on this board haha
  13. I totally guessed that the box was growling as well!!!!
  14. What did the new arrival look like? Big Crate? Numerous Big Crates? Small Crate? Lots of small crates? Did you notice any fur? Long and Narrow? Short and Fat? Was it bought in by a truck? Could it be a new ride? Could it be a Train? Was it growling? Is it Ian Thorpe? Who touched it? Where's it now? How many people have seen it? Was it sneaked in overnight? Could it be for the 30th? Please respond. we think alike bp
  15. and for those of you who are interested - some pics have been leaked online of the Madagascar Crate Adventure theming looks great!
  16. Hooray! Universal Studios Singapore announced today that its Battlestar Galactica roller coasters will reopen February 21!!! These coasters look like a lot of fun... Can't wait to get back to USS to ride. Im going to wait Tom crate adventure and transformers is open as well though!
  17. Hi all, An issue that is often bought up here in the forums is Movieworld's lack of space to grow. With housing directly behind, and studios next door, there really isn't much space left for Movieworld to expand. So, after a brain wave this afternoon - I give you my solution for Movieworld's space problems. I havn't really thought this through yet, so there might be a few bugs that im sure you guys will pick up on so have at it @ 1. The access road behind the Western area is built underground. 2. Shops and facades are moved back on top of the access road (which opens up the west a little more) 3. Relocate the village kids rides to the Wild West ghost town - Retheme the ghost town to the village 4. Reclaim the space from the villaige and turn it into a brand new area, rebranding Road Runner and using the space from the river ride. I have some pics here of what the new areas would look like - please excuse the really bad paint jobs on these. pic 1 - NEW Land space pic 2 - Wild West present day pic 3 - Looney tunes present day pic 4 - NEW Wild West and Village area pic 5 - NEW park themed lands - red - western purple - village blue - new land
  18. agrees an iceberg would have looked tacky. i was thinking more along the lines of using some of the now defunct research station themeing from bermuda and turning it into an antartic outpost or similar.
  19. good points dj! It is very sad that the ride has closed, but I cannot wait to see what Movieworld have in store! They have put a lot of money into recent (read last few years) attractions at all parks. To close a mainstay of the park is a decision I bet they did not take lightly, and im sure that something great is in store! I would really really like to see MW preserve the animatronics in some way though. Like it or not, they are a part of history, and they do hold memories for at least one guest. Oh - and just adding - Everytime I went to the park I rode the Riverride. And each time I saw the kids faces light up in the pre-show rooms. Yes, it was dated and in need of an upgrade, but to it's target audience it was a magical, immersive ride. The earth drill was awesome. The host actually talking to and getting responses from WB characters was awesome. The ride down the river with it's log falling and its lightning cave. Sam blowing up the dynamite. It all holds iconic memories for me as the first ride I ever rode, and as the first ride I ever worked on. I hope that the new ride will still allow memories to be created and is not a half-assed attempt at luring a new audience with Ben 10 or similar. Remember the Pokemon attraction? I know MW are smarter than what they sometimes seem, but they really need to put in an attraction which will fill the massive void left by this ride. We see Dreamworld moving away from immersive "themepark" rides and turning itself into a carnival. Movieworld have done an amazing job in the theming at Castaway Bay, but then i look at the Penguin encounter and i can't help but wonder why the building wasn't themed as well. I'm sure Movieworld will not disappoint, but the new attraction does have a pair of quality shoes to fill. In the hands of Dreamworld I would be not at all hopeful, but Movieworld have proven they can replace rides with amazing new themed attractions (gamezone excluded). I'm excited about 2011, it should be a big year for our GC parks, and the direction taken by MW with the replacement should be a telltale sign of the future plans for WVTP parks.
  20. For what it's worth, I recieved confirmation from Movieworld Guest Relations this morning that the ride is indeed closed for good and will not be re-opening. I was told to keep an eye on the website for news of the replacement attraction.
  21. Nooooooooo! (about destroying the animatronics) Yesssssssssss! (about closing the motion simulator) - Batride takes up a lot of space which could be used for something so much better!
  22. I want to know what MW will do with the animatronics!!! I hope these are not destroyed and put somewhere where they can be enjoyed by guests for years to come. What do you guys thinkthey will do with the animatronics??
  23. Hey skippy, Don't mind Gazza man, he is very knowledgeable and can come off a bit abrupt sometimes but he means well. Try and learn something from his response and move on Man. On the maintenance shed being open, most maintenance takes place after hours with only a bare bones maintenance staff on during the day to handle unexpected ride failures etc.. Its not unusual for staff to sill be operating long outside the usual 9-5 hours. Whether it be washing, ironing and drying uniforms at Dreamworld or costumes at Movieworld for use the next day, washing down a building facade or restocking shelves after a late delivery, staff tend to work weird hours.
  24. I would much rather remember the River Ride for the ride that it was, then for the ride it had become in the last few weeks. Just noting the WVTP website now says it is closed from today. So, how long til WVTP announce the new project?
