  1. Hey RR, I am a support worker and am at one of the parks at least once a fortnight with a client. It really depends on the operator how smooth the experience can be. In my experience, Dreamworld has actually been the easiest with disabilitys but seem more restricted on the amount of rides they will let my guys on. It can be frustrating for us to get different info from different operators so your best bet after your experience on RR would be to go to guest services and get the situation cleared up. It might take 10-15 minutes out of your day but they will speak with the manager of the day and get it clarified for you. As for the slides, are your mates able to help you on the tubes instead of mum and dad? I don't foresee any major changes to tube ride loading. One of my lads with CP struggles with stairs but damn he can run up those things when he wants to. Going to the parks with a support worker can help to. Im not sure of your age, but finding someone of similar age can be helpful - thay way its not obvious to my clients that they have a carer with them and they feel more comfortable being assisted by a 'friend' rather than mum and dad.
  2. Yeah was only quoting the individual weights.
  3. Ok I definitely should have researched before posting my original question. Weight Restrictions as per website No limit- The Bro 113kg - Temple of Huey; Little Rippers 115kg - Triple Vortex; The Wedgie 120kg - Fully 6 136kg - Pipeline Plunge (kids area) MINIMUM TWO PEOPLE (combined weight) 270kg - Hydrocoaster (min. 50kg) 300kg - Green Room; The Rip
  4. I can definitely see both sides of the argument... my friends are not wanting refunds but we also had a robust discussion about it. It is not like it is Movieworld where their are other things to do if a harness is to tight or you dont make the height limit. Paying $70 odd to use a wavepool and literally nothing else though... If their was a sign at the entrance to the park we didnt see it... but it is listed on each slide page on the website. EDIT TO FIX >>> Actually looking at WWW website now my friends may have been able to do some of the slides with some creativity to stay under the limits. Its not a flat 115kg across the board. Would have been good to know b4 we went.. after attempting a couple of them and being turned away my friends kinda gave up. Maybe some suggestions on the map or on the safety signs of alternatives if over the limit would be a better idea.
  5. Took a group to White Water World recently and a couple could not ride any of the slides due to the weight limit. Is it fair to charge full price to a fuller figured adult who can 'only' go in the wave pool?
  6. I went on it today. Loveeed it. Had the biggest grin on my face the whole time. Definitely a highlight for me out of all the gc parks
  7. Reminds me of those Canstar awards. A company I use to work with would submit, pay the 'entry fee' and be awarded... the fact that they were the only ones entering never made it onto the publicity.
  8. Yes Yogi... the audience was full (well covid-full) but I didnt hear a sound out of anyone the entire time. There are a lot of other options for 4d movies from (im assuming) the same supplier which would have been a better fit. Im embarrassed by the 'boganness' of the big show offerings at mw and sw... i know they are obviously marketed at that element of the guests, but jesus.... *head in hands*
  9. So... I ventured to MW today...in my opinion it is so disappointing at the moment. Based on audience reaction Yogi Bear was pretty awful - HWSD was by far the worst I have ever seen it... (and I think it has changed post-covid). I was aware of all of the ride closures, but even Batmans suit looked like it had seen better days. Lots of issues with JL3D. The showcase is.. meh. IMO, It is such a disappointment to see what the park has become... embarrassing.
  10. Sidewinder getting a new paint job. Seems overkill, but carpark was cordoned off to avoid overspray...
  11. Anyone want to help build it? http://careers.villageroadshow.com.au/vrl/en/job/497528/maintenance-carpenter
  12. The exact wording in the email sent to staff said team members will be continued to be stood down from '1 August until further notice (which we anticipate may be no earlier than 18 September 2020).'
  13. Any idea on how VRTP are managing companion card holders before I email VRTP? Will they just take my deets at entry?
  14. I cant see any discussion just yet about the 50 redundancies recently announced by Dreamworld. Any tips on departments?
  15. My best memory of the parks is working the Movie Magic Special Effects show at Movieworld. An extremely cruisy day... maybe three shows before parade, go out and put the bollards down, two shows after parade. Such an incredible crew to work with and made some lifelong memories including * Accidentally picking non-english speaking volunteers (except for superman - superman was always a family man or a non-english speaking tourist) * trying to make sense of the sound effects stage * playing around in the gimble at memphis belle * dodging bootys being thrown over the set at your head while on the superman stage Such an easy shift and so much fun.. maybe do a lunch relief at WWF or Scooby but most of the time chill in the greenroom.
  16. Some real good social distancing on show in the latest vrtp propaganda, oops promo
  17. Yes DW staff recieved an update email today. Approval has been recieved to operate at 50% capacity however no opening date to be declared just yet so as to 'properly implement' covid-safe measures and 'recommission' rides and attractions. My spec - they cant afford to operate with locals only and are waiting travel restrictions to ease. I personally would prefer they stay closed and play the longgame to try and ensure a future, then open quickly just cause the other guys are.
  18. Lesson learnt perhaps? Lets hope they put all their future plans on an easily accesible link 😂
  19. Yes agreed. I am grateful for Bikrash and his open communication, but we have to expect spin (especially on answers that would cause media attention outside of this bubble).
