  1. Good to see the Paper straws too + I will not miss Dough Bros. which, like most DW food was insanely overpriced for what you got. Hopefully if successful they can add a couple of frozen Margarita machines offering both Boozey and non-alcoholic options. The Nachos at Harry's at MW still remain at the top of my list for value and quality. Hopefully this is the start of DW aiming to raise the F&B bar, at least get it off the ground..
  2. From an additional support/wheelchair access point of view, how did People in your group do with SV? I imagine this attraction would be a particular thrill for People with disabilities because of the broad appeal and thrilling sensations etc but I wonder how well they're handling the boarding process with Guests who need a little extra time getting on and off?
  3. They also use those bands for People with physical limitations that may prevent them from riding certain attractions. Visiting the Parks years ago (maybe around 2014) with a friend who used a walking stick, we had to go straight to Guest Services and they put a band on his wrist that had a list of attractions he could do. I recall them not being keen on him riding WWF (in case of evacuation, stairs etc) and tied a ribbon on the Boat to stop the Conveyer for easier disembarking.
  4. Surely in this modern age some Science Wiz can come up with a special kind of paint/surfacing that keeps it getting too hot? Wait a second, it's already been done! https://www.sciencealert.com/la-s-new-grey-streets-are-one-way-to-fight-back-against-climate-change
  5. Well spotted and only about 20yrs over due. Better late than never!
  6. Great to see so much work going on + it makes sense to close and fix the log ride now, while making WWW look so shiny and attractive. Will help take the sting out of it being closed.
  7. .. exactly - and adding 6 single rider slides will do wonders for Capacity overall + for People like me with a Partner/group that refuses to do water slides (I dunno, bad experience on one as a Child maybe?) so now I get 6 more to enjoy on my own.. sweet 😀
  8. Thanks for clarifying @AlexB.. The TV advertising is still saying coming Summer is it not? I imagine the actual ride installation will take but a few weeks to get slapped up but with the area not even properly padded out yet (not even close) maybe January opening at best?
  9. Thanks @Gazza awesome review as always.. Wow that Gale-force ride looks NUTS!!!
  10. The Twinings infuses have practically 0 sugar and recommended by Dietitians. Those ice teas as sold at Markets do have plenty of sugar yes but still arguably a healthier and more refreshing option. Certainly a more unique one too. I also love how Disney and Universal both create unique F&B options that are unique to the Parks. The very fact that thousands of Guests leave our Park's in Aus every day around lunchtime to eat outside has been a screaming opportunity for ever, it's really time for a change.
  11. Thanks for clarifying. If that's the case then maybe this ride system type is what DW need to be considering for the Tower's future? Technology has come a long way since that one opened in 2014. Maybe some seats could be locked in two standard modes offering different experiences? Also a different type of Gondola could be developed that folds forward upon lift off approx 12 seats across attached to the other (said) independent track. One thing's for sure, they either plan to do something more with the Tower or plan to get rid of it.
  12. Once the track is removed maybe add a third vertical track in it's place to use as a whole new experience (ala Falcon's fury). Regardless of what the plans are, the Entire Tower and GD Gondolas are in desperate need of major works including a full Tower & Track structural inspection, full top-to-toe repaint (has it ever happened?) rebuilt/refresh/replace Gondolas, rebuild/retheme the Q and so called 'themed' oil rig surrounds. Seems costly and surely only worth the investment if a whole new ride experience can be added to a freshly reinvigorated Tower. Let's hope DW have plans to this effect because (for DW) it's definitely an asset worth keeping.
  13. Oh the one that most Aussie's hate? Our Parks need to move with the times and offer more unique food & beverage options. Stuff you can't get any where else. What about more hydrating options at Stations like Soda waters with lime /lemon juice, electrolyte drinks and those fuze ice teas? People are turning away from sugar and diet fizzy drinks in droves nowadays. Not to mention they're under $2 for a big bottle of the shit at any local Supermarket - hardly the special treat they once were. A hot Summer's day at a GC Park can be thirsty work. To cool down/hydrate, more water and electrolyte products should be available. To get People to open there wallets a little wider they only need look at overseas Park's, local venues like Eat Street and practically any weekend Market to see what is currently selling in buckets.. It's comparetively healthy, cheap to make, sells for $8 a huge cup, tastes great and it ain't Soft Drink!
  14. It's literally just opened and already we are wondering when it will close? Lol I haven't been in there yet, for anyone that has, is this essentially another Aquaman type exhibit? It would be good if they could put some interactive elements in (think a do-it-yourself style of the old Movie Magic show) otherwise like Aquaman, it'll be a nice place to visit once for 5-10 minutes.
  15. The one pictured is the DW ToT. Intamin's modern day version of the ride is this one at Ferrari World. The loading is faster with the switch track and also the cars have greater capacity with both forward and backward seats. BUT when you compare the ride to the new Coaster coming to DW, this new version of ToT really doesn't have anything that the new Coaster does + another one trick pony is not what DW needs. I wish they could have come up with an affordable and effective way to salvage ToT, sadly 2019 is one for the DW history books.
  16. That's what I was thinking. Where's my invitation? TBH I probably wouldn't bother going anyway but anyone would at least appreciate the loyalty for years and years of monthly repayments..
  17. I'd like to see a permanent walk-through Scare attraction for the area, like Universal Hollywood has done with the Walking Dead Maze. MW has already spent a few $$ on Animatronics etc for the hugely successful IT maze. Seems to me like a no brainer to throw a few hundred thousand more at IT with a larger, more permanent setting while getting a fantastic new Major Attraction for a fraction of the cost.
  18. Agree it's good to see they're doing something and more great Marketing opportunities for Village. Without spending millions on a CityWalk style precinct, things like this will keep People on Village Property(s) longer, spending more $$. I would love to see WnW bring in some food truck style vendors or at least offer expanded F&B options (Polynesian style Luau?) throughout the event.
  19. What, rear projection? But I think you're sort of on to something there with access to a screen that raises up (btw is that old screen still sitting there after all these years??). New Speakers would have to be fitted as well as a new projection booth/system. I used to love all the different themed nights they once did with DiveinMovies. Some included fireworks and MW Character appearances. Relatively cheap to run and boosted both attendance and per cap spending on food etc significantly.
  20. Agreed. The restraints on Buzzsaw are too bulky and press down on my rib cage to the point where I can hardly breathe. It's also surprisingly rough for an otherwise straightforward layout. HWSW gives me a headache and the exit from the 2nd inversion hurts your lower back. Shit ride at DW and it was equally shit when at LP Sydney. My now 50 year old sister never ride another Coaster again after we did it in Sydney, so there you go. Arkham just puts a bit of pressure on your thighs upon braking. Maybe I am biased because I opened LW and have ridden that coaster more than just about anyone but since Kumbak replaced the seats and restraints I actually find it fine. Surprisingly, It's also 2nd favourite Coaster at MW for many, while detested by the rest. Definitely the most polarising major Coaster on the Coast! HWSW will go before AA does. I'd give AA 5 more years. HWSW 2-3 years tops.
  21. Well put @pin142. SV is still a great ride for what it costed compared to Disney (more than 4 times the price). Trouble with SV there really is only one best Gondola to ride in (#2 middle, ground floor). Overall the ride experience would have been way better with 4 Gondolas instead of 6 crammed in. If you have already ridden SV and not done #2 give it another go. For me, one of the highlights of the Disney ones is how the ride system itself works by launching everyone from the floor upward and forward into the screen. It's a very cool start and typical Disney "Wow" moment.
  22. Exactly @Gazza - that's why I think the old Wipeout site will be the future location of said thrill ride. Which I believe to be a flat. Albeit a good one. With SV, expansion/improvements of ABC kids world + the new Coaster (Which Greg Yong is saying is costing 30 mil), surely the next investment would be more modest, around the below 10 million mark. I believe around the opening of said new thrill/flat (2021) we will say goodbye to HWSW and a new major coaster then to be announced to open around 2023.
  23. I'd be thinking smaller scale for the yet to be announced thrill ride - still thrilling but maybe more a worthy Wipeout replacement.
  24. Absolutely @AlexB the area for the ride footprint appears to have been widened significantly. Having not visited SW for a while, can someone confirm if the land has been reclaimed north into the Dolphin Lagoon or South into the Ski Lake?
