Tiger Island Refurbishment - Dreamworld 2016

I would have thought that it's essentially just a much bigger version of 7d / 9d cinemas, of which there's at least 4 in SE Queensland that I know of. -

I'd love it if they made DREAMS the major focus for marketing, events, a new fantastical dark ride, and all future developments be they rides, walk-throughs, characters, shows, restaurants, shops, or landscaping. It's the name of the park and it would give them a clear point of difference from the Village parks. They've made a great start with Beat Box. I'd also like to see genuine improvement to the quality and prices of food and drink options. Just one other thing that is very basic, but extremely important. They should OPEN THE DOORS!!! Having everyone queuing to squeeze through a single narrow entry is a very poor first impression, especially during peak times. -
I paid $24 for a burger, fries, and a cider at that new "Grid" burger place yesterday. I only did it because I was a bit hungry and I was staying for Beatbox. Never again! The cider was fine though only a plastic cup full). The fries were identical to the ones elsewhere in the park despite the fancy description (ok but nothing special, and far too much). The burger was a huge disappointment for the price, and made me wish I'd waited and had a proper gourmet burger at McDonald's after Beatbox finished. Sure, I wouldn't have got a cider there, but the burger would have been far better, I would have had table service, and I would have had an iced latte instead. Oh well. Sometimes you have to try something just to be sure! If anyone still feels tempted to buy the "Grid" garbage, at least make sure the burger meat is fully cooked. Mine wasn't and it gave me food poisoning!

'World Best' Attraction coming to VRTP

I've ridden it a couple of times. I accept that it's an alright ride, but I just find it massively disappointing because I know what was there before! As for the various wreckage, I call it a cheap and easy excuse for theming (again, that's compared to what was there previously). -

But what theming? That's kind of my point really. There's hardly any theming to it. You just go up, and then you come down, and you get a bit wet! Green Lantern has theming? All I've seen is the name and the sign on the front of it. -

If Storm coaster was one of the most expensive to build, I hope this new "world's best" attraction is very cheap! But seriously, I am finding it difficult to understand why Storm was so expensive. It's basically just a roller coaster, and not a particularly fancy one. -

Not that we didn't already know Village had big plans for next year, but just to add a little further confirmation, I just got an email from them which, whilst it doesn't give much away, does at least hint that they'll be announcing more 'soon': "Merry Christmas from Village Roadshow Theme Parks. May your holiday season be wrapped up with cheer, full of adventure and filled with celebration for the New Year. We've got a big year coming in 2016 and we look forward to sharing all of our exciting announcements soon." -
Movie World speculation and dreaming - 2015 edition

Not sure. Could be! I suppose it's a bit like when you're sitting in McDonald's and there's a TV showing "The Burgers are Better at Hungry Jacks"! -

I was at Movie World today, and saw a big sign advertising not just the Village parks, but also Dreamworld and Whitewater world. Thought it was a bit 'generous' of them to allow that! It's in the Wild West area on a billboard. -

It's a pretty poor slogan in my opinion. Surely they could have come up with something better. -
Could Australia Soon Have Its Very Own Disneyland
pushbutton replied to trevorfromaustralia's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The right balance for me would be if there was a Disney Park and the passes were around $250-$300 (max). That assumes Disney standards of themeing and staffing, numerous immersive dark rides, and no black out dates. Any higher than that and I would be unlikely to afford it. -

Well, I certainly don't want the $1000 annual passes Disney has. That would take the price of passes from far too cheap, to far too expensive! -
Looks like there could be absolutely massive potential in this. Limited only by imagination!

I went last night. My first white Christmas (not counting the ones in England as a kid)! It was absolutely awesome, and the Christmas dinner exceeded my expectations. My only criticism was it opened shortly before 6pm, and by 8.30pm security were asking everyone to leave the park! That's 2.5 hours tops, including dinner and including whatever time you spend in queues for rides. I would have liked it to go until about 10pm.

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion

I'm pretty sure the only reason to close it because of asbestos would be if there was loose asbestos due to damaged materials which contain it. I would have thought that if there was was loose / damaged asbestos the ride would have had to have all the asbestos professionally removed. Did that ever happen? -
I got an email from Aussie World today saying annual passes are now available for $89. If you are likely to go more than twice a year, it makes sense to get one!
