  1. Six Flags announced their big additions today! Six Flags Great America - Goliath The world's fastest and steepest wooden coaster with the longest first drop! Built by Rocky Mountain Construction (builders of New Texas Giant, Outlaw Run and Iron Rattler). Six Flags Mexico - Medusa Steel Coaster Medusa - a wooden coaster built by Custom Coasters International - will be retracked with steel track for 2014. Yet another creation of Rocky Mountain Construction. Six Flags Great Adventure - Zumanjaro Drop of Doom Just two years after Magic Mountain's Lex Luthor Drop of Doom gained the record for tallest drop tower, Zumanjaro Drop of Doom is taking the record for itself with a drop of 126m and a top speed of 140kph. Built by Intamin to the side of Kingda Ka - the tallest roller coaster in the world.
  2. Intamin megalite <3 Cool update! Nice to hear Regina has aged well, I've heard mixed reports about it. It's unfortunate to hear that my concerns about the animal care at Tobu Zoo are true. I wasn't sure as TPR never seemed to touch on that.
  3. So its used for every new ride? That makes sense then, about the vagueness of it. Honestly I can't see this being anything more than a new flatride, if we're lucky a permanent one. I'd love to be proved wrong though.
  4. Let's speculate off a banner that describes pretty much every thrill ride in the world ever.
  5. I'd say Transfer Track but it's hard to see where it would actually transfer a ride to? The brakerun in the dark ride section?
  6. I'm not getting my hopes up since last time there was a supposed "New Ride" it turned out to just be a crappy Zamperla spinner that was only there for Summer.
  7. We've known that since the start. Watch a video of Skatteøen at Djurs Sommerland to get a real idea of the ride length. Storm Coaster is a clone of it.
  8. Thanks for posting that, its definitely useful to see an overhead shot. Is it just me or does it seem like most of the splashdown will be indoors? The small bunny hill before the splashdown ends very close to the show building.
  9. I'm actually sick and tired of people constantly knocking SFMM. It's actually a very decent, clean park with nice landscaping. Also, the entry fee is very affordable and the ride operations are fairly efficient, which is much more than I can say for any of the Gold Coast theme parks. I really can't understand how someone can criticize a park like SFMM after visiting a park like Dreamworld. It basically comes down to what someone wants in a park. If you like coasters, do SFMM. If you like dark rides and shows, do Universal. I will mention that Universal is much more expensive than SFMM and is fairly lacking in the rides department, though the few they have are quite good.
  10. Can't wait until outdoor construction begins so we can see just how much the layout will differ from Saw.
  11. I'd say Six Flags Magic Mountain should be way above Knott's on your priorities list. It's a bit further but nothing too bad - around an hour's drive I believe.
  12. It's unfortunate that Australia's seaworld is often associated with the American parks despite having nothing to do with them because stuff like this is bound to attract the dolphin activists to the Australian sea world's page in uproar.
  13. I've never encountered bag checks at any of the parks or have seen them being done. Is it more during peak times that they occur?
  14. I got to watch the announcement live through online streaming and was really pleasantly surprised! Banshee looks like a fantastic new coaster. The inline twist is very unusual.
  15. It's honestly not that obvious that its a SBNO coaster, its almost a piece of theming now. At least a large, obvious coaster like Cyclone isn't sitting around SBNO.
  16. One comment seriously pissed me off - Andrew Charles I will not go on it keep jobs in Australia not Germany wrong Holy mother of God, how braindead retarded and over patriotic can a single human being be? I invite Andrew to try find a company in Australia that manufactures coasters. Oh wait, the only coaster in Australia built by a home grown company is currently rotting in the Blue Mountains. Not to mention the fact that almost all of the construction workers on the site will be Australian, there will likely only be a couple of supervisors from Gerstlauer. /rant, that just really pissed me off beyond belief.
  17. Parks can replace wooden coasters with wooden coasters. Dreamworld could build a new ride with a mine train theme, but of a different type. Imagine a Mystery Mine style Eurofighter, how could that not attract visitors? Just because it shares the same theme?
  18. I'm not very knowledgeable about the whole asbestos removal procedure but would the area surrounding the mountain be considered safe while the removal is going on? If not then Buzzsaw would definitely be closed off, even if there was a separate access area. But if its still considered safe then I agree with Jobe, they could find a way to make Buzzsaw accessible.
  19. I think it's still closed because the track has fallen into complete and total disrepair. /thread I don't know, it may be possible. But wouldn't they have been made to remove it due to health and safety? Or has it remained untouched because they don't want to make it airborne?
  20. Alright, only horror themed roller coaster then. Thorpe Park are probably just pushing that without any real claim to it though.
  21. ^ Also notice that the hooded figure is very similar to the one shown in the timelapse video from way back - knew it meant something. And Saw is the only ride themed to an actual horror franchise. There are quite a few rides themed to horror, the most obvious one to compare being Thirteen at Alton Towers.
  22. I totally agree on Arkham's loading, it's ridiculous. I remember it being bad when it first opened as Arkham so I was hoping it'd be better when I visited last month but it's still shockingly slow. They wait until everyone is unloaded off the platform before letting the next load of riders stand behind the airgates, then wait another few minutes to open the airgates! Slowest operations I've ever encountered on a ride. You know it can't be good when the sign 5m from the loading platform says "15 min wait from here"
  23. Interestingly Saw the Ride is listed as costing 13.5 million pounds, which at the current exchange rate is over $22 million. I know a lot of that would have been theming, but a good chunk would have been for the actual ride, so I'm amazed that Adventure World is only paying $12 million, especially considering transport costs.
  24. I saw that AW mentioned that on their facebook page. I'm surprised they so blatantly stated that it's a clone of Saw. After all, they could pass it off as a custom ride and 90% of the public wouldn't know any better. Or maybe I'm more surprised that the teenager on minimum wage who runs the Facebook page knows what Saw the Ride is (puts on flame suit ready for people to yell at me about PR).
  25. The news reports on this entire story have been ridiculous. One headline claimed that Texas Giant has had numerous injuries, implying that its dangerous. However, if you actually read the article they state that they were just minor injuries and were almost all reported when Texas Giant used to be a wooden coaster - a rough one at that. But yeah, headline sensationalism.
