DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion

If that's the case, I hope they make sure that they relocate the themed area of the queue, because removing the current theming leaves close to no proper theming. Also, if the ride was Sinesto-themed, it could work really well with the entrance literally right beside GL. -

Fantastic work as usual... it's great to have someone like you here to do all this - it's appreciated by a lot of people! Looks like a very twisty coaster so far... which I'm very excited about, but I hope we see some massive airtime hills soon! -
I think if Movie World had made an announcement early, something like what Liseberg is doing with their 2018 coaster would be pretty cool - giving a VR experience of the coaster from within the park before it opens, just to give people a taste: http://liseberg.com/en/home/Amusement-Park/Rides--Attractions/Valkyria--2018/ Unfortunately it's too late for that now

Parkz News Deborah Thomas demoted amid Dreamworld sale rumours
Santa07 replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I would be okay if Ardent sold Dreamworld, as long as they sold it to the right person. Although someone like Wanda could easily make it the best park on the Gold Coast by adding a B&M or two, I don't know if selling it to an Asian company is the best idea, seeing that Dreamworld has been the most "Australian" of the parks and having it run by an Australian-based company would probably continue this. Plus Songcheng isn't exactly famous for high-quality rollercoasters. -
Copycats... but I guess it's fair since they're MW's sister park... hahaha

Do you prefer style or substance in your coaster track?
Santa07 replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I actually prefer Intamin's new track style over the old one... the double-spine makes the coaster look a lot more beastly than their older type. B&M track fits into the same boat for me. The older Intamin track and Mack track certainly don't have the same boldness as other track styles, not my favourite but any rollercoaster track looks fantastic in some way. I am with @Skeeta on the hybrid track, it looks fantastic on pretty much every coaster RMC has made. T-rex track looks awesome too. There's something just really nostalgic about Arrow track. -
I agree - I really enjoy ParkChat because it's not super-serious and just a good fun show, although they do say things I don't necessarily agree with and make mistakes from time to time (some of them are incredibly cringy). Don't find that too much of a problem though because it doesn't detract from the show's fun nature. Also

Even a Harry Potter ride at MW is far more likely than Pirates... How to fix Movie World: let them go at the current rate they're going because they're doing fantastically at the moment (perhaps consider replacing the marketing team though 😉)
-
I would say there's a 90% chance you're right, although you need to remember MW have done non-movie things in the past. Eg. Arkham was themed after a video game, and I don't know if JL was on the cards to become a movie when it opened. The DC supervillains area is full of characters only comic-book readers would know (although that's a very minor case).

If Dreamworld were getting a coaster this year, we'd know about it by now. We would've seen ground works and probably track arrive. I would add that we would've had an announcement by now for any major new additions this year, but if the Dreamworld marketing team are anything like the drunks down the road, maybe not. Plus what @Brad2912 said.

I totally agree, Flash and Wonder Woman just make so much sense... yet they didn't go with either of them? Both have movies coming out soonish (well, very soon in the case of WW, a little further down the track yet for Flash though), both are very well-known characters (not only are they major members of the Justice League, people should know WW after BvS and if not that then this year's movie, and Flash from the TV show which is pretty popular), they both seemed like the perfect choices... And yet they didn't go with either one. There's thinking outside the box, and then there's thinking so far outside the box you lose logical sense. Not going with an obvious theme makes me wonder how far outside the box MW have really gone.

My money is still on Bizarro. Give it dark purple trains and you've pretty much nailed the colour scheme. Joker makes more sense if we don't look at the colours. He's popular, everyone knows him. Except I'd be expecting a dark purple and green colour scheme, not pink and grey. I think two-face could still be a possibility - the pink probably matches him the best, but the grey I'm not too sure where it fits. I'm liking this one more and more as I think about it - the colour scheme fits better than the Joker, and he's reasonably well-known as well, being in two batman movies. Sinestro is possible but I don't know why they would've used grey supports. He's not too much of a minor villain, he's a pretty major GL villain, and putting it next to GL makes sense. Although overall he would still be one of my lower picks for the theme. It's definitely not Wonder Woman.

Can someone who's been to the site since it's been topped off confirm if it's an overbank or not? (i.e. it banks more than 90Ëš) -

Movie World always has been a little hidden away, almost possible to drive past without noticing it's there (if you're not trying to look for it of course). Dreamworld is a lot more "in your face", especially with WWW right next to the highway. The new coaster will certainly make MW a lot more prominent. -

I really like that photo @Adrian86, not only does it capture the top section going in, but it also really gives you a good perspective of what the coaster is going to look like driving into the park. Can't wait for the rest to go in! Poor GL and Superman will be just a tiny speck on the horizon once this is finished. -
Movie World / Village Roadshow fence toppers
Santa07 replied to loki75's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I would think they would be running them alternative, but if they are just comparing, I would definitely agree - who, apart from VR themselves, actually cares about Village Roadshow? -

Santa07 replied to loki75's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yes, for me it would be, easy idea to come up with, would much prefer that they pick a DC character that gives the ride layout some sense and a proper storyline, instead of calling it the "Great Movie Coaster" or the "Village Roadshow Ride" or something. A twisted, intense hypercoaster would suit someone like the Joker far more than it would a movie cinema or production studio - even if there already are 3 other Jokers being build this year. It's why I think the Joker is a better name than Total Mayhem - gives the ride some more personality if you ask me. Just my opinion on this. If they want a generic movie-studio themed ride, then bring back the tram tour or something. -

Santa07 replied to loki75's topic in Theme Park Discussion
But wouldn't that mean it would be more of a generic movie theme because of that? Would be a really dodgy cop-out of a theme if they did do that - not the sort of thing I'd expect MW to do. Or - they could just announce the coaster so we don't have to keep on playing "guess the theme" by looking at fence toppers. -
But did it make you hoot?

Santa07 replied to Richard's topic in Theme Park Discussion
As great as it looks, I'm pretty certain it won't be considered as that, purely because it needs to be better than the likes of Superman the Ride and Shambahla, which would be a very impressive thing to accomplish. The pics are really great, and are certainly hyping things up for me. Unfortunately, at this rate, we're going to know half the layout before we even get an announcement. So from that it would be safe to say the element is about 25m tall. -
push, where have you been for the past 4 months?

This hill could now be one of a few things: 1. A very awesome sideways airtime moment (the most likely) 2. A lead into a very awesome overbanked turn (possible, but if we don't see it banking any further we can rule this one out) 3. A very awesome zero-G roll (more unlikely since it looks quite drawn-out) Therefore, I can conclude that this element will be very awesome
