What can Movie World do to reduce the strain?
themagician replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think OceanGirl has got it though. Yes, the staff could speed up, but really unless the park expands and gives people more reasons to go to areas, then queues are going to be a lot longer. DW may lack in some areas, but they cover all ages groups, have Australian animals, characters to meet and plenty of ride choices. Really, people are going to get more out of a day at DW (especially now they are open until 9pm), than a day at MW where people may only get to do 3 or 4 rides. I think MW really missed out this year with not staying open until later. I'm fairly sure in the last summer season they stayed open until about 6:30. Why couldn't they do that again, or even until 8. I know there are noise restrictions, but they don't kick in until 8:30. And as the Suns sets and temperatures drop, it will provide more time for characters to come out onto Main Street to get photos taken. Hopefully this world class attraction is a good crowd puller and will have high capacity, otherwise next summer could be just as bad as this one. -

^I can't see them ever getting another Batwing Tower. Would be like getting another GD tower. And would not be feasible (As you said). And I remember one time a while ago when I was at MW they had all 6 cars for GL going and there always two cars on the track, at times 3. It worked really well and the queue went very quickly. But since that time, I have never seen them do it again. Or if they have had all 6 cars going, it wasn't speeding up the process. So MW can do it, but I don't know if they are told not to or the staff just don't want to go as quickly. -
Dive 'N' Movies are back... sort of...

Does that mean that the Skycoaster will be included in the $15 entry fee? i think it would have been good to at least have Mammoth Falls and the kids area open. -

I'm glad to see that they've brought it back again (even though it is just for one night). But to me it seems like it's a bit of a waste of time. Why didn't they do it every Friday and Saturday night for January. Maybe they are just hiring equipment, or have they bought new equipment. This might be a trial it to see if it's popular, and they may then bring it back again next year. And since they removed the big screen, does that mean they'll just be installing a big sheet/screen for the night, or a new system. -

^Did they make a comment to you about eureka, or are you just assuming after what you saw? -
MWs carpark hasn't been overflowing, except on those really nice days. I'm taking advantage of WnW staying open until 7. The other day I go there at about 4, about the time when some people start to leave, and managed to get on everything in 2 hours. And the Constrictor had a 30min wait. But after id been on it, the queue was very small.

Adventure World 2015 - 'Mi2' Kraken Tornado slide

But they'd probably never get them back. It would be much easier and cheaper to just have water spraying onto the ground. -

It sounds like they are doing the best they can in the mean time to fix the hot surface and shade issues. People will always complain about things, even if they are just stupid things. Some people just like to pick at things for the fun of it. If people are complaining about walking up the hill and getting annoyed because the queue is long. Maybe just have a sign with the wait time on it. Have one at the bottom of the hill and one at the top. And if they want to spend a little more, but makes things easier, install electronic wait times signs. -

TPSN posted this photo. Some people have said it might just be a park map or a character wall and I'm thinking that is likely. Thoughts? -
Reports are saying that it did make the mnews

I went tonight. Was pretty much the same as last year, but they were those couple of new experiences. Once again, the atmosphere in the place is great and the people who play the elves do a fantastic job at bringing smiles to kids faces. I do think this year, it seemed like there was less snow, and more smoke. When really it should be the other way around. GL was open tonight and got to ride it a couple of times. All the queues for the rides were reasonable. Tonight I parked at the very right corner (if you are looking at the park), which in previous events has been the best spot. But tonight not so much. The photo I posted earlier was used as a second exit tonight, and directs traffic to the right. While the other exit directs traffic to the left. If you park on the right side, you'll be using that main exit, but as cars are trying to access the main exit road through car park spaces, it results in slow moving traffic. It took an hour to get out of the car park tonight, which has been the longest it's ever taken me to get off after an evening event.

^Yes you are reading that correctly.

Looks like our prayers might have been answered. Hopefully it will be much quicker to get out of the MW carpark after the evening events finish.

Just been on the GL. Was smoother than I remember and felt even quicker now. The on ride audio was working. And loose items could be placed in the storage containers at the station. Glad to have it back open again.

Despite what I said yesterday, I'm now thinking GL will be open for WC as it is included on the park map. (Photo: TPSN)

I just think that they may want to ensure people that people don't have loose items on them. Just after the incident I'd imagine they would take every procortion to try and stop an incident from happening again, and as loose items could result in something happening (hence the reason why they make people take items out their pockets). If they have someone check at the start of the queue then people would need to use lockers, but if there isn't, people may not listen and ignore the signage and ride attendants. I've seen many people ignore the attendant in the SE queue people would be there on their phones. It's just that small handful of people.
-
^I doubt that they will have it running during WC this year. I'd say at this stage they'd just want to have it going in the day, just in case there are any issues). Hopefully they will have it running at next years night events. Do people think that MW will become strict with loose items on the GL again? I mean with having to use lockers again, so the staff member at the start of the queue line can make sure no one has loose items.

Please let it be finally open again
