  1. On MWs snap chat they have behind the scenes footage of a maze, where you see cameras watching people going through the mazes and telling the scare actors when to jump out. That's something that I've never thought about, but now I've seen that's how it works, it seemed kind of obvious that's how they would do it.
  2. Just been to a private event with a few thousand people at Dreamworld with many of the rides opens. And since I haven't been to the park in about year, here's my little review and update on things I noticed. The new range of food options was really good, and the styling they've gone for is pretty cool. I got one slice of pizza from Dough's Bros. and despite it being $9.90 it was really filling and that's all I had to eat all night (and I'm usually someone who eats a lot). I was happy to see that they've removed the cramped themed queue line space in Buzz Saw, all they need to do is add more railings in, but it definetly makes the temperature in the space a lot more comfortable. The upgrade to the fencing along side river rapids is a lot better as well. Some of the paint work in the queue space of wipeout has worn off a bit and you can start to see the older colour underneath. The broken plane on Tail Spin was still off. The cyclone was as rough as ever, and can't wait for them to upgrade the train and lift hill. The new V8 Supercars area has all of its groundwork done. Now the fencing was down around the old eureka enter mace I had a quick look at the space, and really it just appears that they've just stripped it back. The DW globe was impressive and bigger than I was expecting, a lot of people were getting their photo taken in front of it, including myself. I'm surprised they haven't included a properly railing yet for safety reasons. And finally, the new tvs included playing music videos for the songs playing, and advertising some things in the park I didn't think was too bad; not something major, but could work well for marketing specials, events, etc.
  3. ^In previous years you have been allowed to wear costumes and light makeover, as long as if nothing covers of hides any facial features. I always thought how people thought getting scared was fun, and I hate getting scared and don't watch horror movies, but after I went a couple of years ago, I love it. I think it's the adrenaline I get from it. It's difficult to say why I love it when I hate horror, but there is something about FN.
  4. If you go through each precinct on each date and look at the times, some of them are missing, which are available sessions for other precincts, so some have already sold out.
  5. ^The 10:45/11pm is based off the last couple of years I've gone. It might have changed for this year. And someone had said the last panic room was at 10:40, but I just had a look and as you said, it is 10:10pm. And it says rides open are from 5:30, so I imagine they will start let people riding them from 5:30pm. That's the way I understand it anyways.
  6. Most of it is just based off my experience from the previous 2 years, so some of it could be wrong, but the part about the rides opening at 5:30pm is here: http://frightnights.com.au/visitor-info.aspx And the part about maze queues closing was from someone asking on FB what time FN finished and they replied saying it will usually start finishing up at 10:45, so thats why I said maze queues close then, because they may still be letting people walk through the mazes. And the last Panic Room is at 10:40 and you have 20 minutes to complete. There isn't much info on the website about closing times and when rides stop, etc.
  7. You say that, but last year (as I mentioned earlier) I went in one of the mazes at 10:45 and I joined the line at about 10:40. So based on previous years and info from the website this is the opening and closing times: Around 5pm they start allowing entry into the park, but only into a certain area around main street as day guests are still leaving 5:30pm (THIS IS INFO FROM THE WEBSITE) Rides open 5:45pm they allow guests to move up along the sides of main street 6pm they release the scare actors and the event begins 9pm all rides except SDSC close due to noise restrictions 10:30pm SDSC queue line closes Last panic room attempts and last screening of 4D show at about 10:40 10:45pm mazes queue closes
  8. ^Ah ok. Maybe it's gates close at 11 or they've changed it from previous years. They start letting people in at 5 because there are so many people to get into the park, and at 6 they do the release of the scare actors down Main Street, so if they didn't let people in until 6 then they wouldn't be able to do that. Regarding the arena not being used, I'm just assuming it won't be a show because they haven't announced anything, and since it starts in a couple of days. And it has been said that it's being used to show the film competition finalists. And I would say the 4D show would be the replacement show instead of having one in the arena.
  9. I find that people start to leave at around 10. There are still plenty of people in the park, but queues for mazes are noticeably smaller. I remember doing one of the mazes at 10:45 last year and we only had to wait for a couple of minutes.
  10. The last 2 years it has been that gates open at about 5. Mazes and rides open at 6. Rides except SDSC close at 9. SDSC and mazes close at 11.
  11. Yes it is 11, and I wouldn't think there will be a show in the arena this year, since there is the 4D show.
  12. I went to SW this afternoon to check it out, and overall I'm impressed. I think the rides they've got are good, and theming of the space is also good. The park was busy, as expected, but the kids area was very busy. By the looks on kids faces they were enjoying the rides very much. Once the dockside tavern is done and they open up the connection between COTD and NL it will be good. The character statue/figurines that you can have photos with are really good.
  13. I've booked my tickets for the 9th, really looking forward to it.
  14. Gold Coast Theme Park's FB did an update of Nickelodeon Land and they included an image of the current progress of the Dockside Tavern
  15. If they are saying it's a sneak peek does that mean that after the holidays it will be closing again so they can finish things off. Is the Dockside Tavern open again?
  16. Thanks for the photos. Looks really good. Is there a show where the Dora show was, or is it the same show?
  17. ^I would say that they still had that planned, but due to the delays and complaints by people of the advertising being apparently wrong (which I don't think it is, as it said 'opening these school holidays', it didn't say 'opening for the start of the school holidays'). And now people are complaining on FB because they weren't given notice about it opening today. When I went yesterday, from what I saw, I wouldn't have said it was going to open today.
  18. Themeparks all in one posted on FB that you can try out the Playpen panic rooms without going to FN. It's $25 per person and you have 20 minutes to try and get out. Someone will be walking around Main Street advertising it and to book it.
  19. SW have posted on FB that Nickelodeon land is Now Open. Ride names are: Dora’s Festiva Carousel, Boots’ Banana Bash, Bikini Bottom Crosstown Express, Patrick’s Jellyfish Frenzy, SpongeBob’s Boating School Coaster and Donatello’s Ninja Flyers.
  20. I wasn't thinking that they'd get all 4 panic rooms in that one space
  21. I remember seeing somewhere (I think it was MWs FB) a while ago that a bike was riding around MW for googles street view in the park.
  22. i quickly went into SW today (the park was very busy, with quite long queues for the rides) to check out progress and see if there was anything else I could comment on. I couldn't really get photos of anything else other than the ones posted yesterday, due to machinery, vegetation and workers. It appears that all pathways are complete, vegetation is in (there is quite a bit with a number of palm tree around the area). I couldn't remember the names of the rides, but 3 of the rides are spongebob themed, one TMNT and one Dora the Explorer. The area is looking very good overall. I would say by the looks of things it will be opening in the first week of October.
  23. Gold Coast Theme Parks FB page posted these photos today. Seems like most of the rides theming and signage is done. And most, if not all vegetation and pathways are done. I would guess that it will be open within the next week.
