Trip Report - Japan - March 2025
themagician replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I would get there early and meet up with your group later if they aren’t bothered about some of the rides you’ll be able to get on. When I visited, Mine Cart Madness already had a 4 hour wait at the time the park was advertised to open.- 25 replies

Based on the comments section of the post on socials, they don’t actually reveal anything new and the article is purely clickbait. -
Trip Report - Japan - March 2025

The park typically opens an hour before it’s advertised opening, so be sure to get there at least 1.5 hours before the opening time. Thats definitely the best order to do those three rides in, and then if you have time do Minions. If you don’t, you’re not missing out on much, but it’s definitely worth walking through the land because it has been executed really well.- 25 replies

The Gold Coast Bulletin has shared an article that refers to the reopening of Scooby-Doo and is apparently preparing to unveil a new ride: https://bit.ly/4nPiylM

Trip Report - Japan - March 2025

Honestly, even with express for the major attraction, you probably won’t even have time to go this ago. I haven’t experienced the one in Orlando, but if it was me I would skip it and use your time more wisely for other attractions that get the longer queues that aren’t on your pass. Also, if you have Jaws on your pass as an option, don’t waste it. The wait time for Jaws generally isn’t that long, or go as single riders (your chance of being able to ride with your friend/partner is high on this one).- 25 replies

Out of no where, USJ has just opened a replacement for Backdraft. Unfortunately it’s just a replica of the Villain-Con Minion Blast that can be found at Universal Florida (which I haven’t read or seen good things about). It’s great they’ve added a good crowd soaker attraction, but my initial reaction is it’s a shame it’s this (especially when Backdraft was so good).- 25 replies

I’m glad it doesn’t complete a full invert because I don’t think the park needs a ride that does that. It has Seprent Slayer and Tailspin as their inverting rides. King Claw will have enough speed and forces that inverting would probably be too much for most guests and would make the investment not worth while. I don’t know if this is currently the case, but I’m fairly sure Luna Parks model was having issues and couldn’t do the inversion for some time???

But also remember down the road we’re stilling waiting on Superman Escape to have its queue/locker upgrades, an all new dining experience to open, Doomsday to be replaced, Scooby to open, for WoO to become world class and for them to sort out their electrical system so they don’t have wiring hanging above guest areas. (The last couple I added for dramatic effect, but you get my point).

Dreamworld Express - will the full circuit come back?
themagician replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I spoke with the CEO, Greg a couple weeks ago about this. He indicated that the train will still be returning to a full loop circuit. There have been delays in rebuilding the track as fabricators/installer are harder to come by than you might think for train tracks. When this might happen, I don’t know, but Greg has expressed to be in the past how important the train is for the park and I get the impressed getting rid of it entirely isn’t an option.- 64 replies

@rappa I’m not expert in this area, but looking at this close up photo from @Theme Park Girl to me they look like individual bulbs (but if I’m wrong, good to know they are actually LEDs).

@New display name someone had shared some close up photos of the framing having rusting, so I’m thinking they removed it purely to do some repairs on the structure. But yes, why they didn’t go and get new bulbs to replace the few hundred that aren’t working baffles me. There’s a Bunnings within a 5 minute drive from the park, it can’t be that hard (I know the bulbs might not be standard, etc etc)!

The slide towers platform has been reinstalled with the new openings for the slides to connect too. And there’s machinery on site constructing the new footings for the slides. Here’s a closer look at the slide pieces And the new supports for the attraction.

Here is where they have repainted DC Rivals up too I believe they have painted the lift hill too And if you zoom in on this image you can see all of the dead bulbs Maybe they were never intending to replace the bulbs or finish repainting the track this year, but it is a shame too see when it’s closed for so long and they went to all that effort to remove the joker head.

Dreamworld General Improvments 2025
themagician replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
There have been some more general improvements this week. Umbrellas have been added throughout Rivertown and they match the aesthetic of the land The Main Street Emporium refurb is complete, with new display windows The Surf Shop is how the Main Street Emporium Surf Shop They are repainting the roofs structure to be a cleaner white Directional signage has been added across the park The sign on the Main Street stage is still missing The front outdoor seating area for Kenny’s Fried Chicken is now finished, and they’ve begun works on the courtyard area to the left. This has been fenced off for years now, but they’ve ripped up the decking, so hopefully it means it will reopen soon. Goldie the Eagle has a new enclosure, but remains fenced off to guests while she adapts to the new home Some of the timber buildings out the front of the former sheep shearing building have been removed (presumably they were damaged during the cyclone) For this years Winterfest, they have moved the ice slide to be on the former Flowrider land (Winterfest is a lot more congregated within Ocean Parade this year and it made this area of the park feel so much better because it was actually being used). And not an improvement, but I noticed this last remaining sign for the former vintage cars located under the ramps of the Giant Drop. This is a minor thing to note, but behind these ramps (which I imagine isn’t used by many guests often), but it’s pretty messy. There’s construction fencing, left over Happy Halloween stuff, a scissor lift and hoarding just laying on the ground. This is a nice little throwback to Rocky Hollow though! Yesterday was the first day of the school holidays, but the park was pumping. The park was probably the busiest I’ve seen it in several years now and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Wait times for rides varied, but the maximum I saw was 45 minutes for Murrisspi Motors and Jungle Rush. Multiple trains on the coasters. Jane’s was busy, people were spread across the park and there was a really nice vibe about it all. For comparison, Movie World’s car park was looking pretty empty compared to normal and the longest wait time was 40 minutes (DC Rivals with one train operations). -
The Flash was meant to reopen tomorrow; but it’s been pushed back by a week. So school holidays starting and Superman, Flash, WWF and Scooby are closed.
