When they do retire this Giant drop, because it’s such an icon for the park, I’d love them to construct a she new Giant drop. New and taller tower, with potentially Falcons fury technology. Maybe one side is normal, the other side is normal. Or it’s seats the entire way round. They could even try get the worlds tallest drop ride record again. The new tallest drop ride is about to open in Orlando and will be about 131 metres tall. The current Giant Drop only needs to be 20 metres taller to easily break the record. That can also allow for the removal of the mess that currently is around the GD.

I find it hard to believe since they’ve just done some refurbishment on the gondolas. It’s got to have another couple years left at a minimum

The area you are referring to is the bird aviary which has the Tassie devils within. There is a ramp that goes around the tree kangaroos and into the nocturnal house. That ramp however is closed to access the nocturnal house.
-
I was there on Tuesday and it wasn’t open, the rest of Corroboree is (which it has been for quite a while now). I believe the nocturnal house is still closed because a lot of the animals weee given to others parks/zoos during the major lockdowns.

How was the wait for Steel Taipan?

I wasn’t at the park today, but I’ve heard everything was operating and the park was very busy

New WB Studio Showcase - Batman Legacy

No Adam West, just the 1989 movie onwards -
MWs carpark today was full, with a couple dozen cars on the overflow grass. DWs was about 60-70% full. WnWs carpark in front of AOS was about half full. With all the different factors as mentioned above, I think the park crowd levels are pretty good, but any ‘normal’ year the parks would be booming right now and we would see the car parks full. The longest I’ve waited for ST is 15 minutes and that was with both trains operating. I don’t think we will see long queues for it for some time unfortunately. Maybe this Easter, but I don’t think we will see major queues until next Summer. The tourism is definitely here to an extent because MW was booming (long wait times partly due to slow operations, out of action seats/trains), but it was much busier than DW. I think with all the attraction closures over the last couple years, the general public doesn’t necessarily see the park as worth it unfortunately. Even with all the extra events/entertainment they are currently have. They really need to sort out the log ride area next though because walking through that area I heard several people comment how there was a ride there or thinking that was where the river rapids was. On a positive note though, there was a lot of people in the ST area and everyone coming off the ride were saying how much they loved it. And with the space active with guests, it’s a really nice area to be in.

That’s good to know that it wasn’t technical issues, but the wind. I agree with the ST staff. The staff they’ve got on that ride are outstanding; so enthusiastic, excited, fast and just good at their job.

New WB Studio Showcase - Batman Legacy

I checked it out this morning and it’s my favourite exhibit they’ve done yet. It could be because I’ve always loved (most) of the Batman movies and to see these props, costumes and vehicles up close was great. The setup was really good and they were pacing the groups out so it didn’t feel crowded. -
I spent the afternoon at the park to take in all the nostalgia. It is so fantastic seeing all this return. It brings back so many memories and makes you start to feel like you are in the old DW. Goldie the Clown is as fantastic as ever and which he would visit the park on weekends/every holidays. There are also some other random Street characters like prisoners and miners who are entertaining people on Main Street. There are a few more pieces of merch available too The river is clean They have opened up the food market area even though there isn’t anything available in here other than extra seating. If I was the park I wouldn’t bother opening this up unless the park super crazy and they are running out of room for places to eat. They have also repainted this shelter opposite the shaded seating area

No track works have happened in the last few weeks, but the fence is complete and they have begun installing the automatic boom gates next to the central station
-
GD seems to be closed today. Shockwave and Tailspin are having some temporary issues. Steel Taipan is running both trains, not a massive queue, but every tra J is running full.
-
Unless they were operating both, but the speed they were cycling then made it seem like they only had one operating for each
-
At the park currently. GL is having issues. Rivals only has one train operating, queue is full and extends towards GL, currently over 2.5 hours. WWF new station is dramatically slowing down the queue, so it’s over 1.5 hours. Even Doomsday is 60 minutes. Scooby is over 2 hours using the entire internal queue and external overflow. And SE is one train, entire internal queue and extends back towards being under the launch track.

Extended hours at Australian theme parks
themagician replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
You can book the park out for events and they sometimes operate rides for these events. And my understanding is they don’t have a cap on private events either. -
According to the website, Doomsday has reopened. Which means every attraction is operating

Luna park 9 new rides construction
themagician replied to Coasterlife's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thanks for the review and photos. I don’t think this coaster is anywhere near the levels of Rivals or ST. I think better comparisons would be Gold Coaster (Sidewinder/Cyclone), Green Lantern and maybe MDMC and Jet Rescue too? -
It was slightly quieter and smoother, but I didn’t find it dramatically different
-
They aren’t much different and aren’t much quieter either. The ride as a whole was quieter yesterday because most of the audio wasn’t working

Extended hours at Australian theme parks
themagician replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
VRTP parks are all extending their trading hours, with WNWs being extended the most because of the movies. DW are slightly adjusting theirs and WWW remains the same. -
This made me laugh as well
-
I hadn’t been on the ride in a couple years, so maybe they aren’t as new as I thought. Along with Scooby having issues this morning, GL was closed all morning being tested. Rivals was either having issues or was very slow operating because I didn’t see it run all morning. And Doomsday remains closed.

Went and checked out the new area this morning. The area is a great addition to the park and has really made this area of the park much more popular. It’s great that the kids get to play in the splash area while the adults/older kids get to go on the rides. The area seems to no longer be referred to as Extreme H2O Zone, as all references to it have been removed. They have also updated the directional signage. The whole area has been really nicely done. The facilities are good and there is plenty of good seat/grassed areas. It amazes me that they didn’t make Kaboom and Double Barrel have their own queues from the beginning. I can’t believe they thought having both rides share the one queue was going to work and now they’ve had to do a temporary solution. The Fast Track queue is now in a seperate location, closer to the splashdowns. Kaboom was at least a 30 minute wait while Double Barrel had no queue. Double Barrel are alright. They are good for parents with their kids, but I’ve done them once and probably wont do them again. Super Ripper was the surprise for me. A lot more fun than I expected and it really picks up some speed. Would happily ride them over and over. Kaboom was also really good. Has a good variety of elements, gets good speed and has decent thrill. The loading was interesting (as someone has already mentioned). The staff are fully harnessed up, but there isn’t a gate for guests. And because of that they are really anal about how you board into tube and they have this panicked look the entries time. The first drop is good, but it’s a shame you loose so much speed at the very top. The clear slide pieces are a real nice touch. And they allow the tube to pick up some good speed again, but is lost as soon as you get to the top of the uphills. Overall great additions for the park and makes it feel more complete.
