  1. Celebrate? If (and thats one hell of an if. Quite possibly the mother of all ifs, I don't know if there's ever been a bigger if) the ideas for those two rides came from your mate, well shouldn't he be happy? You send your wishlist to the park and the ride gets built, isn't that good? Besides, Richard could claim that Superman was his idea since he said that Movieworld should build a themed launch coaster based off a Warner Brothers movie coming out in 2006, all those people who had a Tornado on the wishlist for Wet 'n' Wild could take credit for that, or everyone who thought Dreamworld should tear down Thunderbolt can take some credit. Seriously, if something on his wishlist came up then I'd be happy rather then thinking your intitled to a cut.
  2. Say what?? Was that all day or just early morning?
  3. Not saying I agree or disagree, but I too would like to thank Nev for one of the best laughs in a few days
  4. I've been keeping track of those updates for a while now, and congratulations on both a great holiday and such a damm fine update. Nice looking at parks that I know full well I'll never go to
  5. I reckon you’ll be in one of two spots, and those being main street (outdoor setting) or Rick's / ITG (they are right next door to each other and when both opened up make a big space, easily fitting 500). Think pre-dinner drinks around the fountain with characters. After a few drinks (and much Superman gawking) you are lead through the park to your venue. Being black tie I’d probably be leaning towards ITG/Rick’s as most likely spot. This venue is a hard right as soon as you get into the “hub” and despite appearances, goes back a long way. If not Rick's, it'll be a Street party, out on main street with characters galore, tables set up all through the hub of the park, and of course very nicely lit up. As for Roxy, well it used to be possible to remove all the chairs from Roxy and have pretty big functions in there, however with the new show/chairs that obviously can’t be done, which is quite a shame. I have very fond memories of being in the Roxy Theater at 3am putting those chairs back in. I doubt your award ceremony will be in there since there is only 300 seats. Scooby’s queue is a pretty nice spot all done up, though might be a bit squashy for 500+. Another really cool venue, though again only for small groups, is the Wayne Manor library (the first pre-show room for Batman). You see heaps of Batman characters during pre-dinner drinks, then get to go on the ride, and by the time you finish and get back inside the library (about 15-20mins), the whole room has been set up (quite a feet in itself considering all the tables, chairs, lights and whatnot that you have for a function) for a very formal sit down dinner (7 courses).
  6. Paul, please try to punctuate properly. Capital letters in the appropriate places isn't that much to ask.
  7. You know there are more to Dreamworld's plans then what some 14 year olds think. Amazingly, Dreamworld are in a business, and part of their crazy plan is to place a marketable brand in the park, which attracts families. I know, I'm just as outraged as you!!!1! Really, I'm amazed that Dreamworld can open a new area which includes a new ride (DW's first dark ride?) and because its not a thrill its only worth complaining about? Also, Lunaparkfanatic, you've so far complained about Superman, Sherek and now this. Why are you so against everything the parks are doing?
  8. I don't see what difference RiverFire would've made, since Dreamworld was saying that tickets were sold out anyway.
  9. I won't start a new thread, but rather will bring this one back from the grave and leave my observations of the last Screamworld event (3rd September) in here! First thing I noticed was there were people entering the park by at least 6.20, and many rides were operating with people on them by that time. Kudos to Dreamworld for getting things underway so quickly! The other thing (which really surprised me) was how quickly we got onto rides. Giant Drop in 25mins (It did get much longer after we left but it was cycling quickly), ToT was the same, 10mins for Eureka, 30 mins for Claw, Reptar a walk on, two - three cycle waits on Wipeout for most of the night. The only thing we couldn't ride was Cyclone, which was no big loss. The smaller Ocean Parade rides were Walk on, as was most everything in Nick Central. There were also DJ’s set up in the big queues playing 2002 R&B music. Not exceptionally entertaining for me, though I could see other people in queue dancing, so I say go with it. There were also signs up everywhere telling people what time the queues were to be shut off for each ride. That in my mind is a great way of dealing with the "How do we get everyone off the rides by 10PM?” problem, and seemed to work well where I was. I would really recommend Screamworld to those who haven't been to one before. I can only comment on what I saw, and from what I saw I thought it was well organized, and well executed. The crowds were well managed/behaved; the park looked nice, and Giant Drop at night… Making it 18+ is a silly idea in my mind. If its 18+ then everyone's just going to get drunk and act like idiots. Only one place last night was selling alcohol, and it worked perfectly. Now if only we could get SW and MW to stay open late for night trade...
  10. Indeed, they mention the fact that both Viking's and Lassiter's Lost Mine came it amazingly cheap for how good they were. Same thing happens today to some extent: You try and tell the average American that Superman is only AU$15mil
  11. Why would you want to stop Shrek? I really have a hard time understanding people. Who cares what studio it is? I don't, nor will the guests. Watch the attendance spike and tell me I'm wrong.
  12. I think the bit you should be reading is that they have no information. That is, they don't have any press releases, any confirmed new that they can pass on. When its something like a new attraction, its a good idea to leave it to the marketing people to announce it and any details, and it'll all go out at once, not one e-mail with the details here and there.
  13. Well there's nothing at Wet 'n' Wild that I wouldn't go on given that chance, I'd probably say Speed Coaster, and purely because first time I went on it I queued for ages. These days I've learnt that it’s the sort of slide you can enjoy fine so long as you can get straight on
  14. I've seen it on the Gold Coast, and heaps of Sydney people seem to have seen it... Keep watching TV
  15. That'd be a nice idea actually, though rather then be a stand alone thing would be quite nice to see at one of the main city museums. Would it fit in with any of the city museums? Brisbane Museum had a good thing on Expo, so it could work for Wonderland.
  16. He got everything except the year and the name of the park right lol I'm very excited about this now, I'm sure everyone has been seeing the ads that have started playing in the last couple of days, makes you feel good knowing so much cool stuff is coming up.
  17. Nev – Go into my controls at the top of the page, then under options, go to board settings, and set the time to 10hours+ and that should set the board time right for you.

I think Bullfrog's "Theme Park" from 1994 is better then RCT3, so I don't know if I'm the one to be asking. Its a really good simulation program, but the thing of it is that there is no gameplay, so you have to have a goal in mind to enjoy it.
  19. A real good article this. I read it many years ago in a book, which deals with the history of the Gold Coast: "The real Surfers Paradise". Its a late 80's book, and each chapter deals with a different area of the Gold Coast, from the 5star hotels (of the late 80's remember) the proposed new monorail in Broadbeach, the new casino, and the nightlife of the time, as well as chapters about the 50's and 60's. The chapter that I've stumbled across deals with the development of the spit, and in particular on Seaworld's development. Quite possibly the most remarkable part is the transcripts are found on Seaworld's official website, and the article can be found here.
  20. I went to school across from Robina Town Center. Everyone thought it looked like a prison that was painted pretty colours. Not my ideal shopping center I can tell you; aside from the bad layout, what’s the go with the town square bit in the middle? If you look, it’s pretty obvious that it’s a circle.
  21. Yeah, a themed launch coaster. That'd be cool if Movieworld got one of those. Isn't it funny how these dreaming threads work out? Good to see that we're getting a ride thats going to poop all over IJ: ST in any case. On another side note, all we need now is the replacement for Looney Tunes and its 3/3 for MickeyD
