  1. Maybe I should've miss spelled a few words and left it soaking in sarcasm for a bit longer - it seems like its a bit under done. No way was I being serious. Just thought I'd be the first one this year to bring up the Wonderland closing rumours, after all, it would've surfaced anyway.
  2. *sigh* Not only is Wonderland operating at a loss, its also going to close in February!
  3. I've not only done the Dolphins swim, I've also swum with the Seals and a whole bunch others You do have to buy a ticket into the park, and the interactive tours (Sorry, Animal Adventures) are an additional fee. It makes the whole thing very expensive, but I can tell ya, very worth worthwhile. Not only do I think its good, but I'm also yet too meet a paying guest who hasn't thought it was worth it. The Seal swim is also well worth it, as with the dolphin tours there are more then enough chances to pat the animals, as well as seeing some really cool behaviours you won't see in the shows. The tours are probably the best chance to really appreciate the animals in the park. Heck, even the behind the scenes at Polar Bear Shores is really cool. To see exactly how much space the bears have and to learn about the bears individual quirks is almost a must. That's why I'm pretty excited about the new Shark Bay programs, because the ones that the park has offered in the past have been beyond excellent, and if they are anything to go by, then Shark Bay should be pretty special.
  4. Well what the hell are they spending it on then?
  5. Thing is if I'd said that I'd have gotten a good bashing for it
  6. Maybe I expect too much of Dreamworld. :? Your right, it is a mostly clean place, and the scenery is quite nice - and the great thing is all our parks are like that. Movieworld, Seaworld and Wet 'n' Wild more so, but Dreamworld is kept in pretty good nick overall.
  7. I don't know about that. We might not have all the stuff that they've got over there, but there are some advantages to our parks. There's no off-season here, and for 3 quarters of the year you can avoid lining up for any longer then 15mins. Don't think you could get that anywhere else. The parks here are clean, and well maintained. Next year should see a replacement for Thunderbolt, which looks likely to be of the thrill ride variety. The relocation of Paradise Country as well as the Outback Spectacular (which looks very likely to gain planning permission in the next few days) and the 'new' Luna Park are a few of other major events too look out for. Then there's the great unknowns, Movieworld, Wet 'n' Wild and Wonderland. We may not be in the most crowded area for theme parks, but with 4 or 5 good quality parks, there's enough going on to keep us busy.
  8. lol I just hope that Bush Beast can get up the extra 5 places it needs to make that speil good
  9. Its been a tough year for Bush Beast, slipping 3 places in the Internet Wood Pool to be ranked 150th. Beastie slipped 13 places to be 156th, which leaves it more popular then Mean Streak (167), but not as popular as the criticly acclaimed Zipper Dipper (150) Hopefully with extra TLC, Bush Beast may get up to 145th, or even 140th. Now that would look good on an ad.
  10. I tend to agree with thunder on this one. While your posts are entertaining, try and not make it personal, and everyone might just be able to stay on topic more then 4 posts.
  11. Just making a point, the guests for that private function were never granted access to the park.
  12. I'll second the crap name post. Next they'll be calling a ride P-Viper
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it standard to investigate this sort of thing anywayy?
  14. The way its been described, I don't think it'll detract a great deal from WLS anyway. I reckon those from the west will see it as a 'trip to the sity' rather then a family day out. More about shopping, seeing the odd site and a ride or two. But when it comes to spending a day out at a theme park, Wonderland will still be the main goal. LP doesn't have half the rides it needs to compete in that market, although I do think it'll go quite well.
  15. Lots of points to cover in this reply... Daniel, the ride does have fire alarms, and reported the fire directly to the fire brigade - in other words, the fire alarm was working properly. Goboi, There's no official word on down-time. From what I gather, Xmas is the goal, but may be pushing it. I personally wouldn't be surprised if there was more down time after the holidays if it is up working again, but you can be just about certain about riding again. Richard, I was thinking that today... Looks like the spark finally reached the powder  Wayne, you make a good point. AAF didn't make the claim, one member of its boards did, and its unfair to pin that on Mattie and all the others who work on that side. I would like to extend my apologies to Mattie and everyone else at the site, and will make no more sigs in future which degrade any sites (For the record, I honestly think AAF has good content). I will however, continue to point out posts in any forum which I think are worthy of being ridiculed.
  16. Good to hear no one got injured, which at the end of the day is all that really matters. Whatever section of the ride it is can be re-built, fixed, replaced, whatever needs to be done. Bit of a bugger for all the people going in the next month or two though.
  17. Damm, chill pills for all. Wet 'n' Wild attracts around 600,000 people per year, stays open in winter, and I would guess that it attracts a bit over 1000 most days.
  18. Dude, I think you missed my point, Wet 'n' Wild is a water park and got 7000 on a normal operating day out of the holidays. Not a special event, just normal operations on a day there wasn't a dive in movie.
  19. Wonderland wasn't the only place to have a bumper day recently: Wet 'n' Wild posted an attendance of 7,000 on Sunday, which was more guests then were at any of the other theme park in Australia on Sunday.
  20. I know its a bit of a classic SW shot, but I can't go past this photo of the Corkscrew Monorail combo. This photo gets my vote for most artsy photo in the update gallery, with this photo coming in a close second. As for the Polar Bears, this delightful photo of Lutik in the water would have to be one of the best one going around, while this photo takes the cake for one of the best underwater photos of the bears. Keep up the good work Rich, looking forward to seeing what you come back with from America!
  21. I know there are a few of you out there who are keen on doing a snorkel program at Shark Bay when it opens. Well, here are a list of what the expected prices will be: Snorkel Program $40 SCUBA Program (certified divers only) $85 Helmet dive (non-certified divers) $120 Even though this is all subject to change, the prices for these programs look like an absolute bargain compared to what other places charge. All these tours will be of an educational nature, feature animals which would take hundreds of diving hours to see, plus the added bonus of having Tiger Sharks little more then feet away from you with nothing but plexiglass between you and them. I will endeavour to keep you posted on the date the programs start aredue to start.
  22. I'm against people breaking rules at parks. That's all there is too it. In no way should people sneak cameras onto rides. Having said that, if your allowed to take cameras on the rides, then why not? Every time I've seen someone take a camera on a ride, the operator has made a point of saying "Your responsible for your camera". For me, if your stupid enough to drop it and it hits someone, then you should still be responsible. Like Richard says, anyone stupid enough to drop a camera on a ride deserves everything they get. I also believe that most people are smart enough to ride a ride first before trying to get on-ride footage. I've only done on-rides on Corkscrew, and after a few 1000 rides, I dare say I know what to expect on the ride. Also, for the record, my phone has scratches on it since it keeps falling out of my pocket.
