Perhaps they have decided that there is no point in opening the attraction.

Dreamworld reduces operating hours
themeparkaddict replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
To be fair, a lot of rides did only at around 11am as very often testing was running late. However, A very realistic option which would allow Dreamworld to save a tonne of money but also keep customer satisfaction would be to operate rides on a weekday timetable similar to that of Rainbows End in Auckland. Having 50% of rides operating throughout the entire day would be much better than having all rides operating after 11am and closing 90% of them past 4pm. A simple 10-1:30 and 1:30-5 timetable would ensure that there are plenty of rides open at a given time and they wouldn't be being closed all at once. The new operating hours are very, very random and confuse the hell out of me, given it's the most random rides open past 4pm (claw, panda and Madagascar ) customers are not going to know which rides are open past 4pm and there will likely be a lot of complaints in regards to this. A SIMPLE timetable which is UNDERSTANDABLE to the customer would cut costs on labor and operation expenses by miles. -
@Slick why on earth didnt you come and see me while you were in new plymouth!!!!

We're not trying to bore you with constant updates, or anyone on this forum. The constant updates I have been making lately mainly reflect the fact that rides, which are not being advertised on the Dreamworld website as closed, are closed. We're also trying to spark discussion on what could be going on with these rides. We're currently experiencing the unexpected closure of 2 major attractions (Wipeout, MDMC), which Dreamworld continues to fail to advertise, most likely because it might "look bad" on their website. The fact of the matter is, we have had 5 out of 9 big thrill rides closed for the past 4 and a half days. This is not acceptable coming from any theme park, and it's interesting that it hasn't been talked about more. At the end of the day, we're dealing with mass closures across the board for this theme park, and not all of these closures are being advertised. I do find it annoying when date changes, which are for rides not scheduled to open in months anyway, are posted on this forum. However, when attractions which are expected to open the next day get pushed back by an extra month, that's the stuff we should be posting. Like Wet'N'Wild's Surfrider, scheduled to open the next day, then boom, pushed all the way to 31st December. That sort of shit isn't cool, just like the falsely advertised Dreamworld closures. That's the stuff I want to know about before my planned visit to a theme park.

Pretty sure its actually pronounced “Newman” just like that guy Gary Newman. -
There are at least 20 things which could be wrong with our 4 thrill rides shut at Dreamworld. These are highly advanced devices with numerous moving parts. BUT there are only 3-4 possible things wrong with our 2 waterslides undergoing extended maintenance. - STRUCTURAL (insanely unlikely given the age of the slides) - PUMPS (most likely issue, but this should be able to be resolved quickly) - REFURBISHMENT (such as repaint) - ELECTRICAL ISSUE (hydrocoaster magnetism) Most likely scenario is that for the hydrocoaster we are dealing with electromagnetism issues. Cool. Acceptable. The Rip however, should NOT be shut. IF we are dealing with issues with the pumps, a replacement should be able to arrive in a quick time frame. Literally days. Why cant Dreamworld just apply a band aid fix to the pump like they did on the TRR? The Rip is literally the safest fucking device, along with all of the other waterslides, to cheap out on maintenance for. Its a fucking waterslide made of fiberglass and a few pumps. Big deal. Sort out your shit, get these slides open, stop being lazy. Waterslides should NEVER need extended maintenance, only a few days a year. Gold Coast theme parks are literally the only parks I have seen globally to conduct such long periods of maintenance on waterslides. WNW GC is just as bad as WWW.

Hi guys, all references to the ride opening in "Late 2018" have been removed from the Dreamworld website and have been replaced with a generic "coming soon".

Wipeout broke down yesterday and is now closed until further notice. We are now down to just 5 thrill rides operating. Since the maintenance page update yesterday the start dates appear accurate, Buzzsaw closed since 23rd March, Hot Wheels since 24 Aug, and TOT since 28 June. Normally they try and edit the start dates like they did last year with Wipeout however these dates do appear correct. The Buzzsaw message has also been removed from the website and all rides under maintenance have had this pop-up added:

They are probably getting pretty sick of having to push back Tower of Terror, it has been pushed back 6 times now. Its really disappointing that 4 large attractions (when you include Hydrocoaster) are having EXTENDED maintenance done during the school holidays. That is taking things a bit far. Its unlikely that we will be seeing Tower opening anytime soon as the attraction hasnt even had testing occur yet. Normally they spend days on end testing that particular ride prior to an opening. In saying that though, it is certainly better for them to close the rides, replace essential components and have them operating in a reliable manner rather than using band aid fixes and then facing constant breakdowns later on simply leading to even more maintenance periods. Make sure they are working 100% before opening. I get a bit sick of rides from DW opening after ridiculously long periods of maintenance only to close again a few days later (like we saw with The Claw in May) Problem is, these rides that us Parkz members complain to be crappy, unreliable attractions (like TOT) have been forced that way by Dreamworld and similar models dont have near as many issues. DW: take a deap breath, buy the parts you need and spend money on the REAL maintenance that your attractions need, and take your time if thats what is necessary to ensure a positive, long-term reopening of an attraction. (Although to be honest, I have a hunch that current long term maintenance which is occuring likely has understaffing to blame for the push backs).

themeparkaddict replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Calypso has reopened as scheduled however surfrider is facing a 3.5 month delay! New reopening date is start of January 2019!!! This is the first time Surfrider has not had a September reopening. Does anyone know if the paint is still stripped from the attraction? -

Thats awesome! -
If anyone cares... Despite Jetstreams initially still being listed/mentioned on the Wet'N'Wild website on the Mach 5 page after the update, the attraction has now been fully removed from the website alongside with all references to the ride (apart from the park map). Obviously this attraction will not be reopening again.
