Wipeout has reopened! (according to the website anyway)

Is it just me or does the wipeout actually look better without the waves and name on top of the gondola? I think it looks much more modern.

That just screams Dreamtones.

It's really sad to see Dreamworld going over the top with "safety" features. I honestly feel like the park is intentionally adding reasonably pointless "safety" upgrades to rides just so it can fix it's reputation. Take the shockwave for example. No other Disk O's in Australia or NZ are using harnesses, including the 2 year older Invader ride at Rainbows End, yet it gets the attention from us and it makes us feel good that Dreamworld is focused on safety. I feel like Pitt and Sherry may be behind half of this too, telling Dreamworld to add things they perhaps don't genuinely need. The log ride "cage" is so stupid and racing-grade seatbelts would have looked cleaner and would have also been more comfortable. They need to really STOP FIXING THINGS THAT ARE NOT BROKEN.

Here in NZ we call "water slides" hydrosldies. You can search up Hydroslide on youtube and the first few results will be NZ based. You learned something new today.

Not too sure if any of you are interested, but I thought I'd just write a little about this anyways. Here in my hometown of New Plymouth, New Zealand there is New Zealand's fastest hydroslide. The tower at our aquatic centre houses 2 slides, the "family slide" and the "turbo slide". The family slide is not thrilling however the turbo slide is a reasonably steep drop which can reach speeds of up to 50KM/H depending on your weight according to the designers. The slides were a prototype and had a number of flaws which delayed the opening, and still have some flaws today. One of these flaws is an uneven surface at the bottom of the main drop of the turbo slide which actually gives you a very small amount of airtime (literally), and after the drop you basically stop and have to push yourself for the rest of the ride. If any of you are in New Zealand some time, you should definitely check out this slide as it is quite a thrilling experience. Recently the aquatic centre installed a new pump on the turbo slide and also installed some jets which give you a boost at the end of the ride. ABOVE: The new slides installed in 2008, opened in mid 2009. --- Prior to these slides our local aquatic centre was home to 4 outdoor slides, which were closed in 2008 due to corrosion in the ride structure. Some of these parts were used on the new slides. There were 2 unenclosed slides which required a mat to be used, and there were 2 flume style bodyslides. It is really hard to find photos of these slides so a huge thanks to Todd Energy Aquatic Centre for sending me these.

Just while we are on topic, WipeOut has also been pushed back to the same date as RHLR. Quote "Wipeout will be definitely reopening on boxing day" has now been proved FALSE.

Well somebody mentioned earlier that GD was breaking down quite a bit so maybe they shit down that side temporarily for maintenance? This would explain why wires were hanging down from the tower.

What! So then why would Tailspin be listed as closed until the END of December? Strange. And as for BuzzSaw, that is also very strange. Why not the second carriage too lol

I am not shocked by the vomit, I am shocked by the breakdowns! Imagine what a general guest would think of that, if they were not so knowledgeable as us. And why is it always the same rides that break? TOT, buzzsaw and tail spinner all had problems when I was there in June. Plus TailSpin has just been through 3 months of maintenance. It should be working 100%. Sad really.

Na, no excuses this time for those closures. F that. Out of curiosity, did BuzzSaw, Tailspin ever reopen or was this just a case of a badly updated website?
