As you guys just mentioned, clearing the whole area and starting from scratch (minus a re-themed Buzzsaw) would make the most sense, fix the current issue with SNBO attractions, remove the 'stigma' of the area, including the hundreds of comments saying the area looks so old & rusty (ugh, that was the point..) only thing is, I don't see Ardent/Main Event wanting to splash that much investment into the park anytime soon, especially with the financial losses that have come about in the past week, those which will only get greater over the coming 12 months, as well as a no doubt drop in attendance and annual pass sales. Ardent have shown an 'interest' in selling their theme park division previously, I think anytime in the next 12 months they are ripe for the picking, with a deflated value due to what has occurred meaning a potential buyer can purchase and invest the savings into the park Imo, and not based on any inside knowledge, DW will have new owners with 2 years, and then we'll see some significant investment.

I personally don't believe we'll see TRR operational again. If It was a ride that was recently extensively refurbed, or a newer addition to the park, then potentially they'd look at the recent investment and deem it too valuable or a waste of ROI to close it for good, but neither of those scenarios are true. The ONLY way I could see it reopening would be for basically an entirely new ride to be basically be built using the shell/troughs of TRR. New theme, new name, new boats, and most importantly no conveyor (it would cause WAY too much innuendo/questions/skepticism) or at least no conveyor used with passengers still on board

^^^ you wrote your comment in a quote box with my name on it. Now I look like the crazy one.. the final night party was a 'day of the dead' party. the theme is probably a little morbid, even if only by name, given what occurred last week. It was the correct decision. The overnighter at Silverwood Lab was no relevance or Perceived to be tasteless, unless there was some tragedy in a laboratory recently I've missed. As for no being fair, nothing about life is fair, nor is it meant to be. If this cancellation is the first of life's little challenges to show you that, then you've had a sweet cruise of ride til this point (and don't call me Buster, I'm not a dog). -
Snippet of an article on GCB website from a witness. Didn't copy all of it as most has been posted previously but this one doesn't seem To give a level of insight THE ACCIDENT “The empty tube was totally stuck (on the conveyor belt), like if you had a boat on a sandbar,” Ben said. “It was as if there was not enough water to move it and then the tube with the people hit it and flipped (upright). “The two men were sitting at the back of the tube, so they just went straight between two conveyor belts. I knew in my mind they didn’t stand a chance. “The two women were at the top of the (upright) raft and were thrown into the water away from that area. Obviously the velcro straps (on the raft) aren’t the tightest of things. “It was a miracle the children survived. They were beside each other and the positioning of the tube when it happened meant they were on the right-hand side. They sort of got flung out but I don’t know where they landed and I didn’t see anyone get them out (of the water). “All I was able to see were the adults and there was no way the men could have survived.” What about the women? Police at the scene after the accident. Picture: AAP “At first I thought they might have stood a chance because I didn’t see them sustain injuries but it all happened within seconds. They stopped the conveyor belt and everyone was doing everything they could. “It took some time to drain the water and the (partner) of one of the women was trying to climb down to get her. He was covered in dirt and I remember him holding her in his arms.” That woman was Kate Goodchild, whose partner had skipped the ride to look after their eight-month-old. Their other daughter was one of the children who survived. “The first thing I noticed was her running out screaming, ‘Where’s my mummy? Where’s my mummy?’,” Ben said of 12-year-old Ebony. “Two women tried to console her but she was hysterical after what took place.” With tarps erected to shield the scene and emergency services on their way, Ben and about 30 other witnesses were ushered away. “What I saw was enough,” he said. “You just can’t believe what was happening in front of your eyes.” Police at the scene on the third day into the investigation of the fatal accident on the Thunder River Rapids ride. Picture: NIGEL HALLETT THE WATER Ben is the first to admit he’s not an engineer or mechanic. That said, he knows what he saw that day. “The water level on the rapids was low enough for me to notice,” he said. “I think there probably was something wrong with a pump or some water intake on the day … if there had been more water on that conveyor belt, the (empty) raft might have kept moving.” Ben is also a Dreamworld regular with a long memory. “In the last six to eight months that ride has been out of action about four or five times when I’ve been there,” he said. “I was there in April and noticed it was offline and there was no water in it. A previous time I got stuck halfway around and they had to let us all out. “In my experience there have been issues with the ride but unfortunately nothing’s going to bring those poor people back.”

DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion

Didn't drive into MW so only saw what was visible driving down Entertainment Rd. did my first ever Paradise Country trip today, pleasant, relaxing half day out. Nice little additions to the annual passes. On a side note, today was wrap day for Thor 3, so if you haven't see the sets yet and went a squizz, best head down this weekend as it'll all be splinters by early next week (assuming they don't work the weekend). All the set pieces and props around the sound stages were being torn apart today -

Drove past today and concrete was being pumped towards the front of the current park boundary, just south of GL. Lots of clusters of foundations including a clear banked turn at Entertainment Rd -

Dreamworld Press Release little blury in preview, but clear if you click on it -
No one was forced to go there, but I didn't go there as I had an interest in the manner in which they died. I went there because 4 people died whilst on holidays, leaving families torn apart, all of whom are interstate or overseas and can't place flowers themselves. I went there because DW staff need to know the community is behind them and supportive.

The 'full investigation' could take months. What do you suppose happens to the 600+ staff who need jobs to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads? As for doubts about their ability to judge the safety of their rides, they don't make that judgement alone, that judgement is made by an external & independent body when major maintenance periods occur. -

Funnily no audio from her saying that, only the reporter. More sensationalist media rubbish. What she said was she wanted to ensure the police had the time and access required without hinderance. Given her comments later, I'm gonna say I don't think "they shouldn't open on Friday" never came out of her mouth. -

Heard no such thing and I saw her press conference this morning, she said that is a matter between the police and DW and she wasn't involved in that decision -

That's not an excuse, it's a rationale reasoning given the night was aimed at being more graphic and full on and catering to adults. -

Understand your point Alex. I took flowers down yesterday with my son, as a visual show of support, not only to the families, but also to the DW team and responders. I also got a chance to speak to a few people down there at the same time and was able to pass on my thoughts and offer condolence, and thank the Red Cross volunteers that are doing an amazing job down there. -

Most people on social media saying "too soon", and "they shouldn't open til the coronial inquest is finalised". To them I say - there is no rule for this, or precedent. No matter what day or week they chose to re-open, they would have copped slack for it. And, if you want to keep a business that employs 600 people closed for potentially upwards of a year, you are impacting livelihoods, and causing widespread disruption & impacts for the entire Gold Coast. Reactionary, short-sighted and stupid imo.
