  1. To be honest it’s the better way to go. I’d rather that than be one of the guys who gets off at the last minute only to be hit by a stray wheel flying off Green Lantern when giving a tv interview outside the gates in the aftermath...
  2. It may not be “close” but I don’t think it will be there in 5 years, and given the long lead time and high capex involved in theme park attractions, 5 years isn’t far away and would certainly fall within the current planning timeline
  3. Agree the wheel could not be the sole replacement for HWSW as the footprint would be large enough for 2-3 attractions. Even if they chose to put a new coaster in there, with planning and design it would make for an even better accompaniment to the wheel.
  4. When HWSW has its day (which surely can’t be too far away...) I think that general area would work well for a wheel giving great visuals over both Ocean Parade & WWW
  5. If the current issue is stopping it from operating, which appears to be the case, and they want it to see out another 2 years they will not have a choice but to invest it in, or bring forward permanent closure
  6. When you say once a week for 20 years it may not sound like a lot, but when you consider that once per week would be likely to only start once you reach an age of somewhat independence and are not relying on a parent to take you and make your own choices... so in this example let’s say - 14 years old. that would mean once a week between the ages of 14 and 34. Most people within that age range experience high school exams, tertiary study, holidays, relocation, full time jobs, serious relationships (and heaven forbid your partner isn’t a theme park addict), has children who then have their own commitments on weekends etc. Blow that out to once a fortnight, and that’s now 40 years to rack up 1000 visits, taking you to 54 years old (and assuming you only visit DW when you have an opportunity to go to a park and not MW etc) life gets in the way, no matter how much you love theme parks!
  7. Yeah noticed the JR queue on Carnivale night queue is where the red box is. Only the next grouping go into the existing queue area prior to boarding
  8. Guessing if I had girls they would have too. Thankfully my son is more interested in the DC stores at MW, which at least hold my interest too
  9. I’m with everyone else, been a regular to DW for near on 15 years and have never been inside the fairy store. Do they only sell fairy stuff? Seems a niche demographic for such a large store. I also don’t know how busy it gets
  10. Whilst I agree with the majority of what you say, I think the generation of today, which makes up a large (and growing) portion of their target market has a lot less appreciation for those elements of detail and charm that DW had and were appreciated 15+ years ago. Whilst I don’t intend to paint an entire generation with the same brush, to the majority a train is a train, a water wheel is an element you may take a photo in front of because “what is this thing, I’m gonna insta it”. For them bright means new and looks better on social media. This change in the expectation or appreciation of guests SHOULDNT mean the park doesn’t focus on or put effort into the small things, the details etc, but quite rapidly the decision makers and voices in the meetings that decide where money and effort go to are increasingly becoming those very same people that prefer bright insta opportunities over historic charm or nostalgic sentiment.
  11. @RobMac DWs has done a heap of work on its theming-/aesthetic of late. Sure it may not be cohesive or flowing in places, but it’s at least bright, colourful and appealing. the globe is far better than a standard fountain imo. It’s a fantastic photo op and welcome to the park. vintage cars still exists. a new paddlewheeler would be a terrible waste of capex.
  12. True. but shit happens. There is plenty of other things to do on the GC. Could be worse, you could have booked a trip to Shanghai to go to Disneyland...
  13. No one books flights to the other side of a country Solely for a generic flat ride.
  14. That’s interesting placement if it’s for the coaster...
  15. I want to know how you came up with that name. Do you work in the adult entertainment industry?
  16. Think the rocking boat concept has some real merit but would have to be well themed and customised to really suit the surroundings.
  17. The tower and TOT existed for close to 2 years before GD opened, so it may not necessarily have been designed with the thought that one day TOT would be removed, I’m sure that was considered in the decision to retire TOT2 and retain GD
  18. That ride cost more than the entire value of DW. It’s probably $200m + out of DWs price range.
  19. Losing a family friendly ride suitable for ages 3+ for a high thrill attraction for teens + would be a backwards step imo...
  20. Once TOT2 station and track is removed, it will allow a smooth transition between ABC World & Dreamworks so I would expect we’ll get 1 or 2 kiddie/family flats in this space. I would also love to see a modern replacement for the Log Ride, or at least a major refurb with new theming i think further attractions will depend on the outcome of the mooted land sales/property development
  21. At the minimum until late 2020. It absolutely will not be open in 2 weeks. i have also heard it may not be back at all.
  22. I would not be surprised at all if the vertical track is not removed. Excuse my potential ignorance, but I would imagine doing so would require re-certification of GD given that any significant work on the tower would need to be inspected, approved for GD to operate due to potential structural engineering implications. would be much simpler for them to remove the horizontal track without touching the tower.
