  1. I think the video was captured during a "stress test" of sorts for GL, much like how Xcelerator was launched at crazy speeds during it's testing period. I'd be very surprised if the ride actually runs trimless... The reverse bank turn and first inversion would be a lot better slower IMO, particularly with lap bars.
  2. Agreed. "People attacking people" discussion has been moved to This is an exciting period for our parks so let's try to stick to the topic as best we can. As GoGoBoy said you all have valid points but if you wish to continue the discussion, please do so in the designated topic or better yet, PM the member(s) you have an issue with. The trims on the first drop work really well. It's great that S&S have figured out a way to use the trims as an added element to the coaster rather than purely a necessity to keep the speed/G's down.
  3. So just under 3 weeks until the apparent opening date of December 15th. Any news to report? Theming, cars on track etc.?
  4. Re: the lights pointless in daylight comment, note how bright they look in a convention centre flooded with fluorescents. I've no doubt that they'll be visible in daylight. Not to sound like a fanboy but I'm seriously blown away by the amount of effort that has gone into these cars. I can't wait to see the station and accompanying queue.
  5. $3m is a bargain! The Wild West area at MW is in desperate need of another attraction, this would be the perfect addition. I'm sure the replacements for LTRR and BATR will come first but a nice little wooden coaster like Big Fun would be fantastic.
  6. TPR has http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPYyskOEuvQ, including an interview about Green Lantern and it's car in the first minute. Some information: - The car on show will be sent down to MW to join the 6 that are already on site, bringing the total number of cars to 7. - Opening mid December - S&S integrated onboard audio - Pulsating logo presumably capable of different effects.
  7. So the sexy cars for Green Lantern are on display at IAPPA. The (poorly translated) article mentions that 2 million euros is being spent on theming.
  8. Xcelerator is taller and faster but I much prefer Superman as, even though it's the "same ride", it's a higher quality coaster overall. Same could be said for Scooby. Fairly common attractions made unique by the way VRTP has executed the theming, customized the layout etc. Now we're getting an El Loco that will also be unique -- steeper drop, 4 across seating, lap bars, in-seat audio and heavier banking on the "reverse bank" turn among other small yet fantastic improvements. The guys in charge of ride selection are not purposely avoiding B&M. I guarantee you that they would also love a stand-up, flyer or wingrider in the park, but the reality is that there's a budget, and they've done a brilliant job with what they've been allocated.
  9. $10m for Motocoaster, $7m for Buzzsaw. Very few people would visit Australia for the sole purpose of visiting one of our parks though. The tourists that do come here will already have them penciled in on their itinerary. Having the steepest drop record is not going to change that... it just isn't as impressive as tallest/fastest IMO.
  10. Likely situation is that the coaster had already been signed off before the coaster in Japan opened.
  11. ^^ With construction being completed so quickly I wouldn't be surprised. I'd imagine testing will start within the next couple of weeks. It'll be interesting to see whether any more trims are added to the first drop. Compare it to this pic of Mumbo Jumbo. It seems the trims on existing El Locos make the drop seem too controlled (based on the few POV's I've seen). I know they're required to keep forces intact but I do wonder if the unique elements (8 person cars and what appears to be a taller variation of the standard layout) of GL have allowed S&S to get away with less trims. If so that first drop will be brilliant!
  12. ^ Are those in order? Really interesting that you've listed El Toro after Ghostrider... and Bizarro at #9!
  13. The thing is that it never appeared to be in a state (at least from a guest's point of view) where it's removal was needed. Sure there were a few broken effects but it still was a high quality attraction. I was expecting 1-2 months of downtime for some things to be fixed up, or even a retheme, but never would I have imagined it to be removed entirely. The same goes for LTRR. It's a shame to lose such immersive attractions. This paragraph is confusing... you disagree that theming plays a role in the success of an attraction but then go on to say that it's a component of the experience? So wouldn't theming then add to the "thrill"? There's a reason why Disney spends tens of millions on an attraction. Expedition Everest wouldn't be much without the mountain and accompanying theming.
  14. Every other El Loco has a lap bar & OSTR... with GL only having a lap bar won't this increase the minimum height requirement?
  15. I really like the ticket booths without the signs on them. One sign on the turnstile building should be enough IMO.
  16. Continue with the story. I think the logo makes the entry look a little tacky. I'd either redesign it or not bother with it at all. Other than that though it looks stunning, keep it up.
  17. Based on what I've been on: 1. X2 2. Tatsu 3. B:TR (SFMM) 4. Riddler's Revenge 5. Nemesis: Inferno 6. Revenge of the Mummy (USS) 7. California Screamin' 8. Superman Escape 9. Xcelerator 10. Ghostrider
  18. I'm struggling to acknowledge that thing as an actual roller coaster!
  19. By all means Keegs feel free to post your own thread in the Gaming section. The park above looks great! Do you have a screenshot without the coloured sections?
  20. For anyone that may have missed it, a new Parkz update was posted yesterday. Is it just me or does the pullout from the first drop seem more extended than other El Loco's? This could possibly mean that the drop won't be trimmed as heavily...
  21. ^ True, but I'd imagine that Asia is going to be a major focus for them considering it's proximity. Flights are stupidly cheap between Perth & Asia, especially when compared to Sydney/Melbourne. I have my doubts but I'd really love to see this go ahead. If it does fail then at least we'd have our own 200+ page Hard Rock/Freestyle Music park thread.
  22. I suppose they're trying the Disney method and trying to turn a nothing place into something. Much like how Orlando pre Disney World was basically a ghost town.
  23. Moved MW closures & lockers discussion to
  24. Except when another freak summer rolls around and the majority of the days are overcast with rain. All it takes is one bad user experience for them to never use it again... you might want to rethink how your units are powered. EDIT: Just to further elaborate on this point, and Harrison please don't take offence to this -- remember it's all constructive criticism -- but you talk about considering all kinds of variables when you guys are really underestimating the potential issues that solar power can cause. What if there are weeks of continuous overcast days? What if all of your users visit on overcast days?
  25. It all still sounds pretty simple to me... just because there are multiple variables doesn't make it infinitely complicated. The point still remains that if you want this app on multiple OS' you would be much better off building it with Flex.
