Hmmm doesn't really say they are actually at fault of doing something so perhaps they haven't really been the one to cause it. It's just they are taking responsibility.
-
Yeah. Disneyland is pretty much on my list for any trip to the US. As a theme park enthusiast I don't know how anyone can not enjoy just spending a day even doing nothing in this park.
-
I can't stress enough that if you can get there GO TO DOLLYWOOD! Some people haven't even heard of or really know what it's about but I would put it up with Disneyland as one if the greatest parks I've ever seen! I was so blown away. Take two days and see every show and eat everything you can.

I think maybe he was talking about the 'heart like' design if the ride. Marrow put the train at the centre of an element where as B&M out the riders chest (or heart). The restraint has nothing to do with it.
-
The other thing to consider too is the older arrow/Vekoma track and bogie design by nature lends itself to roughness. The wheels sit between the rails on fixed axels and the only way to reduce friction and allow it to run through the course is to allow play (or small gaps it you will) between the wheels and the track. You can see this in the station where the up stops and likely side guide wheels won't actually be contacting the track. As it runs around the course the train 'shuffles' back and forth between the rails due to these gaps. Modern track/train design has the wheels on the outside if the track, on independent spring loaded wheel carriers which hug the rails at all times and provide a smoother ride.

Surely this a joke post right? Otherwise I'm going to have to start throwing the M word around again...

I'll happily be the first person in the first car.

The big (insert irrelevant number here) thrill rides campaign just screams lack of marketing creativity. Someone back in the day came up with this concept when they had a handful of thrill rides and it worked. Theyve (rather desperately and sad) hung into this for years and just kept adding to the number as they primary marketing concept. It's time to let it go and refocus on a more fitting representation of the brand. -
I actually applaud him for being the face or the company at this time rather thane enlisting some trained media spokesman. Same thing happened at MW with the Greeb Lantern incident with the General Manager and it just give the organisation so much more credibility.

You'll find on nearly all panels the 'mode' switch for the ride is a key switch. Different parks have different rules. For example at Movie World only maintenance staff can run manual mode and move trains, etc. Where as at Disney bringing trains on and offline is standard practice for operational staff.

Agree completely. I got the chance to check out the attraction which I though was really just a 'fish overlay for dinosaurs' but I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the attraction. Its a whole different league to Dinosaur Island and a great fit for Sea World. I think the kids would love it. Budgets aside my only things I didn't love were the overall presentation of the upstairs area falling short of the downstairs in the indoor section, the fact the two large whales needed the support posts and I didn't like that I could hear the Crocodile sound effects over the other side of the dolphin pools which kinda detracts a bit from that area. But I really loved the whole thing.

Yes that interview was just disgusting. And yes Gazza is right, whilst each install is Customised, typically all coasters of a same model will share the control PLC code so a flaw that allows curtain conditions to lead to an accident (which sounds like is the case here) are likely to be found in every installation. The fact that Saw probably shares operational procedures being the same park operator means it absolutely should be closed until the investigation is complete and the flaw rectified. I spent an hour yesterday chasing a PLC bug that appeared when we changed something seemingly unrelated. These things can take time to completely nail down. The only other option is to run it with a single car and that would just be a capacity nightmare.
-
Yeah UNILAD, always with the more accurate info. Seriously? You actually just posted that?
-
Pretty well every coaster uses proxies as they can't be false triggered by a foreign object like a bird.
-
Exactly. The previous incidents were just that. With the exception of the track coupling failure nothing is news worthy (including 16 journalists stranded for half hour). The key thing here is, did the ride restart the lift and send that train in auto, or did a person do it in manual. Thats the key question here, any previous incident is completely irrelevant.
-
Yeah Disney has had more complicated coasters than anyone else for decades. From a kiddy coaster to a record breaker pretty much all the systems and safety concepts on coasters are the same. They are kept very simple for a reason. Simple = safe.
-
California Screamin sent a train through a block brake and into a stationary train... Control system failure big time

As a business you have to look at it this way. Will a 300k makeover directly drive the sale of an additional 3-4000 VIP passes? If you can't quantify this to your shareholders, you can't spend their money on it.
-
I'm with Joz. Just go all out and do some serious lighting install in the 'disco room' and leave it as just that. But justifying spending 100s of 1000s of dollars on an older attraction is very difficult to do unless it's something iconic like space mountain because it just doesn't give any return on investment.

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion

Yeah calling the mods 'wankers' is probably not the best way to keep you posts in the thread. Im in all for deleting all of this talk which has nothing to do with Mine Ride. -
The bank in the background reminds me of when Disneyland first opened the storybook land canal boats.

My opinion is if you would say it to their face you can say it online. Now they put themselves out there online so it's an appropriate forum to say something to them. What I can't stand though is keyboard warriors who sling crap online and then are a meek little spineless wimp in person. -

Happy to see so many attractions around the coast getting theming love. -
Why do people like them so much? From the first time I wrode the coaster when new I thought "it's amazing, just turn off the awful rope light that lights up half the room and spoils the effect" But seems a lot of people are annoyed they have been removed... I'm curious as to what they liked about them??
