Perfectly summed up Bus. I would say a big part of that is the safety of our public transport system...even before we begin to bring up the sad state of the trains at the moment. I will never catch a train, I just don't feel safe. I can back that up with why if you really need me to but lets just leave it at that. Until we can get somewhere easily and safely via public transport we will continue to drive. Add to that it takes me 20-25mins on a good day to drive to WL, via public transport I'd estimate it at anything from 1-1.5 hours.

I wouldn't say sydney is 'used to it.' Anyone who really lives in Sydney and spends anytime in the city and CBDs would know just how much Sydney was ****ed up for anyone not going to and from the Olympics. Everyone talks about how wonderful we handled the Olympics but anyone who actualy knows how they achieved that sees a very different side of it. We only achieved such sucess by sacrificing all the public transport not around the Olympic site and by forcing businesses to close to free up the roads. Don't mean to go off on a rant but yeah I don't think we are just willing to accept sub standard transport solutions... sorry Zordy :-(

Its funny about Intamins track being 'sqaures' all 3 of their track types (flat, tri and sqaure box) are actualy all triangles...they all use triangular webbing for their structural strength. Personaly I prefer Intamins track and support designs over anyones...actualy same could be said for their rides in general :-)

Well like I said I wasn't comparing X I was just saying things changed with X and already stated why. As for Big 1 I only used it as an example as the photo illustrates what I was talking about. Oh and yes Tower of Terror all about squares...well except for the GIANT Circle being the tower :-p

Bloody Oath Bus! Could you imagine the impact a giant billboard over the entire turnaround would have had...much better revenue than a bloody logo atop probe. It really wouldn't even have had much of a bad effect from inside the park either as the sign would be facing the other way.

Heres one I've been wondering about for a while. I'm sure everyone has notice just how much support Arrow have for their coaster track, especially lift hills - http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery775....htm?Picture=11 B&M however use very few supports in relation to the amount of track on their coasters - http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery216....htm?Picture=21 Arrow sort of started to get it with X (http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery750....htm?Picture=20) but this still has some beefy supports. X is a bit different however just due to the sheer wait of the track and the train it must support. Even though a lot of B&Ms are much younger in comparison to the Arrows out there I still find it odd that there is such a difference with just how much supporting steel Arrow use, especially as the 2 wide track with its narrower guage would likely weigh less than the 4 wide B&M track. Of course Intamin are a different story as they tend just not to bother supporting their track at all :-p

No Jos is actualy spot on. No standard sit down looper that only runs forwards really needs restraints at all. The centrifugal forces that are at work will hold you in your seat no matter whether your upside down or not. Of course in the advent of an emergency the restraints come into play. We all know OTSRs are never needed though, just look at the old Schwarzkopf coasters!

Howdy guys. I was looking through yesturdays paper which had an article on Blackpool. In it was a photo which you can find here: http://www.m.sheen.dial.pipex.com/coasterk...y_bigten_02.jpg After talking to Richard he dug up this little gem, an interested read...AND stunt. http://www.m.sheen.dial.pipex.com/coasterk...hday_bigten.htm

But people here have only made tongue in cheek comments to you, nothing serious or to be offensive. You have just written off every people who lives in the city as you say to be stuck up. I never said you called Gay people freaks, you were putting them in the same category though...
-
EXCUSE ME SHIFTY?? WTF man, you sit and rave about how people in the city are stuck up and then you say That just clearly shows that you think that YOU are above these people and how uneducated you really are! Why is a gay person a freak? Your warped views on society are a cack mate. There are good and bad people everywhere. You have your undesirable people in the city just as much as you have your gangs, drug dealers and just general turds out west. Its a bit sad actualy that these days I'd feel more comfortable in the middle of the city on a thursday night than I would in Liverpool Westfields... One thing I've found about so called "Stuck Up People" they tend not to go around stealing from, raping and shooting each other... something to think about for you there.

I think I can at least speak for Richard and myself here in saying that we weren't complaining at all about WHAT is being added, rather expressing out dissapointment over the way it is being marketed. I'm sorry but I live a hell of a long way from Dreamworld and I don't share your thoughts on not minding if they never change the park of if I have to wait an hour or two to ride. I don't find wait times like that acceptable, I am not any more happy to line up for an hour at DW than I am at SFMM...
-
I completely agree with Richard... how unusual :-) My gripe is not that they bought the smaller version, it's that it will be marketed as a major, or as I yanky friends like to call it E-ticket attraction. This it simply is not. Had they just installed the ride in a not quite so prominant (or dominating) position and just marketed it as a new ride then that would be ok. But we all know that won't be/ isn't the case...

So when is the big bonfire where we all dance around and chant?? :-p
-
Ok guys you must check this one out... Pure GOLD! http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail104.html

Only problem with making it a refundable deposit is you end up with a massive line of guests trying to get their deposit refunded at the end of the day... Hardly the final memory you want of a nice day at the park :-(
-
15 mins the longest wait Richard? Surely not...I've waited longer than that on quiet days I'm sure. I guess it's hard to tell though given you never have a watch on there :-p If they were to do it I'd probably impliment either; A)the stamp on the hand system or B)have a system of different coloured wrist bands each with its own roster of rides/times. But yeah probably no need...
-
I think seasonaly it is a very good idea. Obviously it would be of no use in the off season as the parks are pretty much dead but in those busy periods I could see such a system being very effective. I personaly have never been to any of the Gold Coast parks in the Peak season(s), and never will but I know very well how long the waits can be. I can certainly see WBMW in particular being able to put Fast Pass system to use and pull it off too. Such a system could come in quite handy at W'n'W too I recon. You could be alocated a time slot for a particular slide where you could have front of line access and that way you would reduce slide wait times on those busy hot days... Perhaps at W'nW it could work as an upcharge thing???
-
I post my reply in two parts...one here pertaining to Dreamworld and another when the new thread is created... IMO any sort of Virtual Queuing or 'Fast Pass' system simply wouldn't work at DW. Problem again goes back to the lack of throughput the park has with its rides. They simply don't have the operational capacity to support both a standby type que and a merging fast pass que.
-
Good to hear they have progressed from the originat 'tin shed' quick fix. Still hope to see a proper 'first class' theming redo when the ride goes down for its rehab though. Anything less would do this world class ride no justice.
-
Only think is (if you dig up an old friend you'll find it) last time I was there the park was in need of a bit of refurb work... Theming is great...but only if you maintain it.
-
Sounds great GoBoi. As soon as you said that I imediately thought to Pirates at Disneyland and I'm sure that's what you're talking about. I think that could work really well. You could start the theming from the steps under Coney Island as that is a pretty bland walk through at the moment.

Well I don't think we can judge until we have actualy gone and stood on said Giant's shoulders can you? :-p Still a better description than the one for the parks latest addition, "Factory:the ride" -
Am I missing something? After pasting that URL into IE all I got was redirected to some forum type site

Was just browsing the older threads and came accross this little gem... http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/sh...791&postcount=1 Guess they had the bull**** tap turned on to you too Bus :-( Its just very amusing reading those posts knowing what I know now about the outcome and some of the posters HEHEHE

HEHE I'm in a dig up old threads kind mood... I am now pretty certain we DID NOT receive Zodiac in the last 80s as we thought... That brochure I posted today is from like 86 or 87 at the latest and it has Zodiac in it. I was pretty certain Zodiac was original and maybe it just might be???
