  1. The walks spotty describes are not for structural integrity of the track. It's just to check things are working, exit lights and doors are functional, no obstructions in the ride envelope. AlexB I'm not sure why wood coasters need a daily walk and steel don't but no it's not a daily check. And the 'ball' takes hours to do a full circuit. It's not used daily.
  2. All amusement park rides follow a strict set of guidelines from the manufacturer on regular inspection intervals for track etc.
  3. Oh k I can't believe neither of these has made the bulletin
  4. Where are you getting these photos?
  5. It's probably worth noting too that 'ride ops' as most people probably think of them are not the entry level ops staff you may think. The actual operators at the main panels that push the buttons are a level of staff about that and it would take a while to gain one of those positions on the major rides. It was summed up best said above that all jobs have ups and downs. I've never been a ride op but the parks are a great unique place to work. It's like any job, it is what you make of it. Loving the job and being positive means that the shit days (and there always gonna be shit days) just don't matter in the scheme of things.
  6. ^haha I mean whether or not something is happening, that building is ringed by the main service road for the park. Pretty well any employee would see stuff was happening if it is, so hard to really reprimand anyone for saying "something is being built".
  7. I laughed too hard at the fact this guy calls himself Lukeybaby
  8. That statement is just stupid. By that logic, the whole park is a money maker and nothing more. This is simply another event to entertain guests and mark money, which is why the park exists. Please explain your silly comment.
  9. Yeah it's surprising how quickly the ride drains and fills.
  10. Yeah no water actually stays behind the mountain. It will all come down to the main lagoon. If you have a look next time you're at the ride, you can see a water line around the walls of the lagoon and the timber surrounding the runout that gives an idea of the shutdown water height.
  11. Yeah I would discourage any posting of where the 'blind spots' are on ride cameras just due to the fact people may be stupid and try to use that info act up.
  12. Hmmm... Just hold your breath for a little while longer... I rode 2 weeks ago and there were tons of full colour lasers everywhere in the coaster part. They're not their now... What could that mean? As for superman. Once the train leaves the station the ride does everything on its own.
  13. I really don't know if Id say JL is worse than Batman. They are both just really different.
  14. It's amazing, such a classy sign to match the height requirement one beside it. And another fairly lack lustre addition for dreamworld. Big surprise. This park is such an incredible dissapointment.
  15. Second hand dodgy chair swing from cedar fair parks Or boat ride from holiday world
  16. 12-15 million really sits at the top end of what the parks are spending these days.
  17. God I was I was saying that about 2005! Haha
  18. I'm not totally sure on sorry. I think you'd have to do something with haunted ghosts from the west or something like that. Maybe work something in with Boot Hill being close by. Definitely give the building a facade to suit the theme. But it could maybe even be subtle rather than big and imposing. Really set people up to have no idea what they're in for. You'd need a pre show room to set up the story and I think some inside que to build anticipation. They would have to dig out the hillside where the seats currently are but it's not a ridiculous undertaking. Don't do the entrance via west as it makes it hard to close west and not this ride. I'm open to suggestion on firm story. But you only have to look at how much Alton did with a simple ride system and a solid story. That ride is awesome! You could do something pretty awesome for sub 8 million I recon. Maybe even cheaper.
  19. I keep saying it... Vekoma Mad House. We've seen how awesome they can be when some right (Hex) and we don't have one in Australia. Use the show stage building and theme it to yes some sort of haunted attraction. High capacity, family friendly, no noise.
  20. The whole building doesn't have these. Just the laser portion. So if due to air movement you ended up with say smoke back at the load dock, you could get an alarm.
  21. I've never seen any evidence of a decommissioned fire effect that never made it into operation or anything like that. I'm not saying it was never there, but there's certainly no sign of it now. The Scooby building actually has a particular sort of fire detectors that are not affected by theatrical smoke effects, you need more of them and they are all sorts of rules and regs that make them prohibitive in many places but the Scooby building and the arena at the Outback Spectacular both use this type of system, so you can smoke up to your hearts content without having to isolate the system which menu venues do.
  22. The lift did get safety upgrades in modern times though to address some design flaws.
  23. So how did you get from "number one reason" to something to do with the closure. The entire ride was reason for the closure, the lift is part of the entire ride so I 'guess' yeah it had something to do with it. The lift did displace water from the lift pit when coming down. But water spilled from that area to the rides holding reservoir, where water had to be pumped to the water through following the down chute. No real different to how say Wild West Works. Not trying to be an ass but when incorrect information is posted as fact, it should be corrected.
