Apparently Mt Druitt Water Works was right near the station, from what I can find is that they stored slides where the new Shop Smart Factory Outlet is... Will take a look when I am at Blacktown Library next. Neil

I managed to get out there today and managed to get the last ride on Space Probe with 2 good mates. We ran into the station as they were closing the entrance and begged to be let on and so we enjoyed the last ride with the Ride Op. staff while a manager operated the ride. Tried to get onto the Demon for the last ride but unfortunately had no luck. Managed to get the Zodiac's last ride. Also got interviewed for an article for Sydney Morning Herald with some other visitors and some staff members. Also managed to persuade some colleagues from work to come who deal with photography who managed to take around 5000 photos total in addition to my 210 so I hope to have them available via a website soon. Also, i have got to say that I could not believe the amount of people fighting for merchandise in the Main Entry Store. It reminded me of a Christmas Sale where people were stepping all over each other to get less than half price merchandise. I spent around $200 on merchandise. I have also filled out an Expression of Interest form for an attraction and should know within the week how I go so I will let you guys know. More to come... Neil

After a visit to Wonderland I have noticed a few changes: 1. Both the Tasmanian Devil and Dragon's Flight sites have been dug up. All that remains is both queue houses and they now have picnic tables in both. 2. I have never noticed this before but the handrail uprights on the Bush Beast are now numbered. 3. The peak or top of Fred Flintstone's Splashdown is now in the Action Man Arena. 4. The Action Man car was on the hill just behind the Beastie. 5. There was a large skip in the Graveyear/Boneyard on the hill behind the Beastie and it looked like it was being filled with old ride parts. 6. There was a man walking around the site of the Beasie and it looked like he was making marks with paint on the Beastie structure. 7. Most of the merchandise in Demon Manor was in the Main Gate Store. 8. The hill that lead in to Hanna Barbera Land (just past Zodiac) was roped off. Neil

Hey Everyone, I was advised by a friend that visited the Easter Show that Dragon's Flight was at the Easter Show. The individual has had a Wonder Pass for roughly the last 3 years and they do know what the ride looks like. The reason why I bring this up is because the ride looks permanent rather than a travelling model (On a Trailer) and the top covers are identical. Does anyone know? coasterfreak Neil

Hi Everyone, Looks like Six Flags is selling Worlds Of Adventure to Cedar Fair, the operators of Cedar Point and Knott's Berry Farm. They have also sold their European parks except for Movie World Madrid to private investors. http://www.cedarfair.com/index2.cfm Reuters via Yahoo! Neil

Total Thrills Wonderland Farewell Meet
coasterfreak replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hey Guys... Tried to get in touch with an SMS to Richard and now understand why I did not get a response. Got stuck on the Great Western Hwy behind a Semi that slammed into 2 cars and blocked the road. I did get in (a little late) and took alot of photo's especially when security and the suits ran and I mean ran down to Snowy River. Also got a shot of that creepy guy in the Red and Black tracksuit talking to the guy that was driving the Wonderland Express. You could say that I caught him in mid-pick. He also stepped in front of the camera a few times and was told by my friend not to do that again, kindly of course. If you want the pics... let me know. Neil -
It appears that Thunderbolt has been sold. If you visit www.usedrides.com and do a search on rollercoaster and it will display the following: DOUBLE LOOPING COASTER Description: Reference number 10027: 1982 park-model MEISHO ROLLERCOASTER DOUBLE LOOPING, 1 train 24 seats. Power necessity 75 KW. Has been SOLD. I doubt that there are very many Meisho Double Loop Coasters for sale at this point in time. Wonder where its going? Neil

Wizard's Fury which was originally at the Galleon's Graveyard site, is not classed as a coaster. It is classed as a Flat Ride. Below is a pic the same type of ride but themed differently. The ride is known as Bayern Kurve. Neil

Anyone up for a final Wonderland meet?
coasterfreak replied to Flea's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Rooty Hill is near Mt. Druitt, Toongabbie is in the opposite direction. It is atleast 20 minutes from Rooty Hill. Rooty Hill railway station is the where you can get the bus to Wonderland. Neil -

I dont really know many of you guys but I would like to come and meet the people who enjoyed the park. Neil -
I was just advised of what was stated on the news and am totally disgusted as to the outcome. I believe that the handling of this entire situation is most disgraceful. They did not even give the park a chance to be sold to another party so that it could still operate and entertain the many Australian visitors that attend the park on a regular basis such as myself. Simply tear it down and here come the factories and I bet that they will rub it in our faces by calling the street Wonderland Drive or something. I feel that the owners have acted despicably and I really wonder how a business such as the Sunway Group can continue to operate when it has no regard for the people that it serves. I say boycott ING. DOWN WITH ING

I just saw on Ten news that the closure was due to skyrocketing insurance payments and a massive debt. I for one am taking a day of work and am going tomorrow just incase they do not make it till April 26th.

Lets hope that someone can step in and take over Wonderland for some bargain basement price. I suppose that in these days with the price of land becoming so high there really is no room for parks like this. This reminds me of a park in the US called Opry Land who closed a park after 20+ years of operating to build a shopping centre. I am generally a quiet viewer of this website and am glad that I am not the only one feeling like a part of me is gone. I am so pissed off and so angry... I will have to resort to visiting Luna Park, a park with no rollercoasters. Looks like a few days of work during the week to get some time at the park while its quiet. All the best guys, Neil coasterfreak

I really hope that this is not true. I have grown up there and will be sad if it does close. I really cant imagine Sydney without a major theme park. coasterfreak

Little Monsters Flying School is located on top of an old set of stairs. Thats why if you go to Batty Chicken, you basically have to walk right around near Galleon's Graveyard or to somewhere near the entrance of Transylvania to go back up the hill to Demon, Space Probe or Zodiac. In later years there was a small fountain there. coasterfreak

Well I have just seen an ad for Taronga Park Zoo and they are advertising their new attraction. It seems that they also have new Lion Cubs which look very similar to Wonderland's. They are also using their slogan, "They're cute... but not for long!". coasterfreak

They only painted The Zodiac a couple of months ago. Why would they take time and money to paint it when they were going to take it down. coasterfreak

Just out of curiosity, Does anyone know the asking price of the Thunderbolt. coasterfreak

If this is true... Why replace a rough ride with another rough ride! --------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: I have just called the park and the only ride that is not operating is Snowy River Rampage. coasterfreak

There was no stop over in the Netherlands... As they were preparing the old "Smurf Island" the pieces were arrivng at the park. It is also getting a new colour scheme while the pieces sit in the parking lot. For images... see below: http://www.carowindsconnection.com/construction.php coasterfreak

How can you compare Demon to Cyclone...? One is a full circuit coaster and the other is a shuttle coaster... They are totally different rides! coasterfreak

The Luna Circus building sits on the same spot where the Big Dipper station was... So it is above some shops and an arcade. Its enormous. You can definitely notice the Yellow and White striped building from the Harbour Bridge which i take every morning to get to work. coasterfreak
