  1. Apparently it has been discussed but these type of things are ad-hoc and the comment was made to me that "whatever -------------- wants when he walks around usally gets done at the last minute"
  2. How much would 4 tickets be worth that get entry to the house for a "hooded tour" whilst the show is being filmed? They were auctioned off last night for charity at the function I was at. Any takers?
  3. Post AALARA update, yes it seems the ops manager from ol Wonderland now finds herself unemployed on the coast.
  4. The new coaster at WnW will not have a water interface, more likely to have misters at the best.
  5. She still has Infinity to look after doesnt she?? Last year at AALARA we went there in some free time and asked the girls at the entry of Infinity who their Manager was and they barely knew her name. I will check next week when I go for ALAARA.
  6. Yeh the seats were originally red but during 2002 we took them off and sent them to Queensland and had them dipped in a black foam bath which set hard. The red ones were becoming grimy with sweat etc etc and the foam was also breaking up, man they were really tough to get off and on - so many bolt holes. Edit: My post is related to AlexB RE Space Probe seats
  7. Not sure if I understand your question but on the only floorless four wide row coaster I have been on (Superman at SFOG) there is a chequer plate plate platform which raises and lowers pneumatically directly below the parked train, you walk onto that and once ready for despatch this platform drops and off you go. Hope that helps.
  8. Just take a look at the annual maintenance for Superman Escape at sister park Movie World, if they delay the maintenance any more they can do two annuals at once 2007-2008. So it seems quite common to change the dates for this group but dont hold your breath.
  9. Wrong Sir, Wrong Even though there is nothing at all on it, the simple lay of the land and the roads leading to it can easily conjure up memories for people who knew it well. There are many features of that area that wont change even when it is full of warehouses, the Minchinbury reservoir for example.
  10. Which council was that? (they are all mean)
  11. Dont worry, in true Foxtel fashion it will be repeated more than once over the next few days, I recorded it 3 days ago and it has been on at least 3 times since.
  12. Well as unusual as it is it does make some sense. I think it is a direct response towards WhiteWater World to try to take some of the gloss off there newfound success???
  13. Nice Wazza, The photo of Capt Caveman's reminded me of the freakin bird's nest you had to navigate around when we went to the top for maintenance weekly/monthly, the first time I ever went up the bird almost knocked me off the ladder when I opened the hatch - you can see the evidence of a bird with all the mess on the turret. The second lot of photos from the top of the Demon must have been after closure. Wrong I must be because Dragon's Flight is still there so it was before closure. But with the lake drained and the Tall Ship gone this photo must be from about 2001.
  14. It would be a longer alternative but it is also WRONG, this is not the way they would do it. Common sense says you would build your new carpark then use the existing carpark to build upon. Anyway where would the cars park if you demolished the existing one first?
  15. This would beone of her company cars (she later had a commodore) which the on site mechanics would have nightmares about servicing, she had or has a skin condition where she would shed bucket loads of peeled skin and her cars were full of the skin all over the seat, console and floor of the cars and considering her size there was plenty to go round.
  16. Funny you mention that, There was one young Security staffer who had a similar experience, he was meant to be patrolling the defunct HB area when he got the call from the helitours girl that there was a spare seat on the next flight so off he went. Only problem was it was the full Sydney Harbour tour and he was radioed by his superviser whilst he was out over Double Bay and asked his 10/20 (location) to which he tried the old "on the toilet" story. I think the sound of the chopper gave it away and needless to say he was severly reprimanded and given his final warning over it. He left not too long after that. Helitours was instructed NOT to take any Wonderland employees up whilst they were on duty. I was lucky enough to have got a freebie prior to that incident.
  17. Well, just back from the Gold Coast and enjoyed it thoroughly. Here are some photos of and from the Eye.
  18. What is the name of the area (suburb) that now sits there? This was pointed out to me early this year as we drove past but I have forgotten the name
  19. So is the confirmed opening date the 8th Dec? My Marketing Manager has arranged an industry FOC for my family on the 8th for Dreamworld and I am wondering if it will be very busy. If so I will get it changed to the 6th and hopefully miss all the crowds I know this has already been covered but is WWW a seperate entry or included in DW entry? This is my first ever visit to DW and I am mainly going for Wiggles World for my 2yo and also the other major thrill rides like TOT, GD etc etc. Any help or advice much appreciated. SW, MW, PC, WnW, DW, AZ all industry FOC - looking forward to my first visit to all of these parks!
  20. As a fitter and as I stated chain IS available locally this would be why it is not a shelf item. Yes they can be huge, I have replaced enough of them to know this. I have as much adequate background knowledge as you do on the current Eureka Mine Ride problem and more knowledge of theme park maintenance. I too enjoy sharing my experience and knowledge of the industry I love. None taken, I apologise if my way of informing people on these forums offends.
  21. That is an absurd statement about theme parks rarely carrying spares for attractions. I can assure you that parts which have a long lead time such as ones from overseas are kept in the store *just in case*. If they are readily available locally like most chain is then they may decide not to keep it on the shelf due to keeping costs down and adopt a "just in time" strategy but ONLY if it is easy to get hold of. It is not unusal to "risk assess" the likeliness of failure on critical parts and depending on the outcome of this this determines whether or not you keep it in the store.
  22. We are talking about the new coaster in Disney Orlando Forida, been under construction for quite a while and cost in excess of US$100 million.
  23. Yeh seen that ad too, already got the DVD recorder programmed to tape it. I met one of the Vekoma guys while I was over there, he was showing me some photos of the construction while it was in its early stages.
  24. I believe this is the time that the PLC "weighs in" the gondola to measure the required pressure to apply to the launch cylinders, just to give you that perfect height ride and no more.
