  1. It's a big ferris wheel. They could have put it at Luna Park Melbourne, then maybe it won't look out of place the same way Q1 tower does on the Gold Coast.
  2. Nothing would be better than some stupid over-sized ferris wheel. At least if they built the studio park it would have created more jobs (as well as rides) and boosted tourist numbers better than a pathetic wheel.
  3. What is so good about these big wheels?
  4. They could do a laser-tag dark ride (like Men in Black at Universal) - themed to Terminator franchise.
  5. This place is mainly for international tourists to see local wildlife only & to make lots of money doing so. Where as Taronga is a non-profit business operating at constant near losses, with an on-going redevelopment / upgrade plan for the next 5-10 years.
  6. Yes, chinatown theme opened with the ride.
  7. I remember the program, it was all about behind-the-scenes / making-of the ride & how channel 7 was involved.
  8. If they took out the pre-show, it would add much needed space for another flat ride of some type.
  9. I have to agree that $200 million won't go far (for a non-Australian park). They should be investing those funds to improve the domestic market (buy new rides/attractions & expansion of MW Gold Coast), before trying to setup anything overseas. Another example for the domestic market: any news on WnW Sunshine Coast? (what's the story so far, has ground broken yet?)
  10. Does anyone know when do they plan on getting rid of the Matrix exhibit? Its well overdue for replacement now that they have S/E and soon to be Batwing. Also i was looking on the Parque Warner Madrid site last nite & noted they use their Police Academy Arena for a Batman Begins show as well as P/A.
  11. I just read on wikipedia that the new tower ride is good old space probe.
  12. If Six Flags open a park they wouldn't call it Magic Mountain... again.
  13. I met the owner of Infinity a few years ago. He told me "if it became popular enough" he would consider openning more of them around Australia, with the next one to be in Sydney, then one in each capital city. As much as i liked the place, i don't think it will ever happen.
  14. They should have let Paramount Studios build their park, it would have been alot better than crappy trailer rides and an even crappier big wheel!!
  15. That same spread was also in the Sunday Telegraph.
  16. If you click the paper clip on the topics page it will bring up a window with the attached files.
  17. Some good pics, but one thread of the topic is enough.
  18. The original Intencity arcades were indoor theme parks that had a cafe/chillout/retail area & five themed zone/areas: NRG - racing, shooting, fighting Wide World of Sports - sports Virtual Worlds - network simulator attractions Lost Civilizations - redemption/prize games Kids area? (name unknown) - ball crawl, slides etc. They were a joint concept from WVTP & Nine Network for those that don't know. After the first two years the concept went bust, and now they only focuss on what remains of the small arcades.
  19. Sega World & Intensity were the only two indoor theme parks in Australia, anything else is just a large arcade. I remember reading about the Fantasea park, i think it was to be built above the coach terminal. From what i saw of the plan it would have been pretty cool.
  20. Disney to build a park downunder - i'd like to see that!!
  21. The report showed that DWWP will be built between the the highway and Dreamword.
  22. Too bad the near future will be another 5-10 years away at least. We need a new theme park now!!
  23. I also agree the name sounds too generic! They will probably charge about $30 for admissions, but it's good to see some new development & competition for the industry.
  24. They kept the puppet tree! Why? Of all the things they could of kept - (like the whole THEME park)!
