Agreed. It looks like everyone is really excited about this park. Sydneysiders are desperate for it. I had a look through some of the submissions sent into the planning department. It was interesting to see the large number of people writing in support, especially young people. I think it's going to be a big hit

We need to find out who it was that filmed this video and get them to make more ride POV's. Very well done

This is too much

Inside Today:the Bat, the Bunny & The Bermuda Triangle

Are you serious? This comment doesn't make sense at all! How can you say that a rollercoaster fits really well into a WATER PARK and yet wouldn't fit well into a THEME PARK? Surf Rider would have been much better suited to Sea World -
Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
GoGoBoy replied to ads086's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I just noticed Movie World refers to an "insane new experience"... so maybe it is Arkham Asylum. Although personally I'd love to see the ride based on a horror movie (can't believe no other theme park has created a Freddy/Nightmare on Elm Street ride), I can't really see this happening. Time will tell. Glad MW has already started to hype this up by releasing some info nice and early -
This is probably one of the best amateur POV's I've seen for a dark ride. Particularly impressive considering the age of the video. They managed to capture the experience nicely and got most of the important parts. Very rare! Anyway... this brings back good memories and reminds me of why Movie World was always my favourite park. These immersive international standard dark rides were like nothing we had seen in Australia before (except for maybe Lassiters Lost Mine at Sea World). They really transported you into the adventure. I just really hope that, despite their new focus on budget, the days of top quality themed attractions such as this are not behind Movie World

Gazza - you never got a chance to go on it? It was truly awesome. Definitely without a doubt Disney/Universal standard. There was just so much going on in the ride and all the animatronics were great. It was pretty freaky and you could really feel the tension build up as soon as the Gremlins started taking over the pre-show cinema part. One of the highlights was the final room with all of the Gremlins spraying water from their hoses. Great stuff

Really well said Alex. I totally agree with all of that -

LOL. Exactly! It would seem more likely to me that with MW potentially adding some new major attractions this year, Sea World would not get anything major in the same year. In saying that though, with the amount of ride removals over the last couple of years and the fact that the Village parks are already relatively small, it could justify an increased injection of capital in a short space of time. Either way, it'll be disappointing if they leave such a prominent part of the park empty for much longer -
Let's hope so! Thanks for the info. Fingers crossed it's the start of something. It's certainly the first we've heard of any 'movement'

Just saw an update on Movie World's facebook page saying that both MW and WnW will be closed today due to localised flooding! Unbelievable!! I've never heard of this happening before. BUT it does seem to be raining on the Gold Coast a lot lately. I mean, think of all the discussions we've had over the years about delays to various attractions etc. due to heavy rain. And I notice frequent comments on their fb pages from people asking whether certain rides will be open in the rain. What happened to the sunny Gold Coast?
-
There already are. There is this thread where we are discussing the closure - aptly titled 'Looney Tunes River Ride closed'. Then there is another thread which discusses possible replacements for Looney Tunes, Batman & Bermuda
-
Exactly! djrappa - I'm surprised you are even questioning why this is being discussed. As Ride-me said... this is a theme park FORUM! It's exactly the right place to be discussing and analysing the various decisions made by the theme parks. Sometimes good, sometimes bad
-
Oh qldtaw. No one cares? Do you know how many times Sea World has had to respond to questions about the closure of Bermuda Triangle on their facebook page? Or the Batman ride and Looney Tunes on MW's page? Or when ANY ride is even closed for a short period of time for maintenance etc? And this is JUST going by their FB pages. Not counting the countless of questions they'd get via email, phone, in-park etc. ...oh I forgot another big one: Eureka Mountain Mine Train. Dreamworld was constantly getting asked about why it was closed and whether it would reopen. It got to the point where they got sick of responding and so other FB fans would respond for them
-
I'm not quite sure why there is such passionate defending going on of the parks management here. No one is saying the parks are terrible - just that it was a very questionable decision to close 3 of their major rides, all at the same time, without any replacements yet. I have no doubt that something will eventually replace these rides. That is not the issue. But I doubt all 3 are going to be replaced at the exact same time (and as we have seen Bermuda and Looney have been SBNO for quite some time now). To have all these rides closed during a major holiday period is not good. And as I said, when you then have a new ride like Green Lantern breaking down there is even less choice available. These are not big parks to start with - everyone already complains that they are too small and don't always fill a day. Alex I'd have to disagree with you when you say that very few guests would worry about the situation or think it's a poor decision. I have worked in theme parks and I can tell you there is nothing that peeves guests off more than closed rides. They hate it! Especially when they can't see a good reason for it. You can even see from the feedback MW and SW have been getting on their facebook pages that people don't like it
-
You are absolutely right. It was completely crazy to close 3 of their major family attractions all around the same time. There just aren't enough other attractions at the parks to justify this decision. Then when you have a situation where Green Lantern or another ride is closed due to unexpected maintenance and there really isn't much left. The parks just wouldn't be worth visiting in that situation, in my opinion. You can also see from the number of complaints regarding crowding coming from the general public lately that it is a problem

Wet 'N' Wild Sydney @ Determination Stage
GoGoBoy replied to triplex23's topic in Theme Park Discussion
That's great news. I'm surprised there doesn't appear to have been any news reported on the approval, especially in the local Blacktown papers (couldn't find anything using online search). I'm sure the park will be a big hit -
Yeah see that is what I was worried about. A dodgy recording as opposed to a really professional one. I really don't think they should do these things 'in-house', as I suspect this may have been. Still, I hope MW can re-jig the audio and improve it rather than just flat out remove it all together
-
Yes, the Hulk! I forgot about that one. I know it's pretty popular but I found it to be a really nasty coaster. Waaay too forceful for my liking. Much preferred the Duelling Dragons coaster in the Harry Potter area. It was intense but bearable

Dose Road Runner Roller Coaster need a make over ?
GoGoBoy replied to Jacko's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I have to agree. I do sometimes think some of the older members on here can be a bit harsh with some of the newer guys, particularly those who are genuinely trying. The odd spelling mistake shouldn't matter - but the content should. I do think Jacko has been given a (surprisingly) long leash until now but it has gone a bit too far in my opinion. I don't like reading posts that are created just for the sake of it -
Disagree Jacko. I love river rides. Especially ones with a totally unique surprise lift & splashdown at the end. If anything I'd like to see more water rides in our parks
-
Exactly. I was also questioning the quality of the audio - I haven't heard it personally - but the complaints from everyone make me wonder if it's 'dodgy'. I think it's great that they made a bit more effort to make the queue line immersive
-
See in my mind, having audio in the queue is a very nice touch. But maybe they should have designed it so that it played some GL style music instead with occasional dialogue thrown in. Perhaps they should have created more dialogue too so that there would be more variety instead of a continual loop. I haven't heard the recordings myself, but I hope they at least sound professional. I would hope MW hired proper voice actors and didn't just use management to do it
-
Yeah I hate that feeling and it has happened to me. I think some people are most susceptible to it than others. I also experience motion sickness which is why I prefer 'fun' rides as opposed to really intense G-force rides. The 2 coasters that made me partially black out were the Backlot Stunt Coaster at Canada's Wonderland (but apart from that brief section where it occurred, I actually liked the ride) and Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain

If You had a theme park what will you name it ?
