  1. Elaborating further on the comment I wrote on the Youtube clip of the Motocoaster POV, I reckon we should be calling for Stephen Gregg's resignation. As the CEO of Dreamworld he is responsible for this ride and as far as I'm concerned the buck stops with him. With so much money at their disposal there is no excuse that they didn't create a truly fun and successful coaster. $10 million dollars should at least buy a damn fun ride. I can't help but feel Mr Gregg has indulged his own personal interest in sport and motor racing to the detriment of the park and its guests. I'd like to see someone take over the park who knows how to oversee and implement a real theme park attraction and get over this idea of trying to create "new experiences never before seen in Australia"... particularly when those experiences are well below standard
  2. It's all so sad. As I have said previously I can't help but think Dreamworld influenced Intamin somewhat and encouraged them to come up with a 'realistic' motorbike experience rather than a coaster... and I think this was the downfall. Either that or Intamin have just stuffed up completely all on their own. The Vekoma style of motorcycle coaster was more what was I was hoping for. Check this video out The coaster in the video above still has quite a short ride time however it includes all of the fun elements which the Motocoaster so sorely needs. Not to mention the fact it appears to maintain its speed. Why couldn't we have ended up with something more like this?! Even the positive comments/reviews underneath the clip prove that this coaster succeeds where Dreamworld's doesn't
  3. Come on Gazza, this is Tony we're talking about. Sorry Tony not meaning to offend you personally again as I have in the past... but in all seriousness his track record for posting pics and vids that he says he is going to post is pretty poor
  4. The Green Room at WhiteWater World is reportedly a better version of the two. And from what I have seen I would agree with this. The extra tunnel at the start seems to add to the ride. Wet 'n' Wild's version is the shortest
  5. To my surprise they have actually made the effort and updated the interactive park map on the WhiteWater World website. It now includes the Little Rippers and the Shell function venue. I'm glad they did this as I thought it would be one of those things that gets neglected - especially seeing as though it requires animation. I think it was worth the effort as it looks quite good and makes the park look just that little bit bigger
  6. So far the people who have ridden Surfrider have nothing but positive things to say about it. Whereas the feedback has been less than great about Motocoaster. I certainly trust the opinions of the users on this site and think it's a good indication of the success of each of these rides
  7. This sounds great. It is nice to hear all positive reviews about a ride. Surfrider certainly sounds like a success unlike a certain other new coaster at a certain other park that I won't mention again here. I have to say I am really pleased they have gone for the full on water jets rather than just a mist - let's hope they keep them. How much fun! I also think the surfboard ride base looks great... very nice paint job
  8. There is an article about the Taipan here http://www.kiamaindependent.com.au/07/sep26/news/03.htm which features a photo of the 2 slides
  9. Unbelievable... if a coaster is going to be that short it should at least maintain momentum until the end. Obviously people are going to be disappointed about the ride's length but at least they could have made them scream right up until the brakes kick in. This just doesn't happen. And I'm still convinced it's because of Stephen Gregg's obsession with sport and trying to make the track more like an actual racing track rather than a coaster. Realistically I understand Intamin built the thing and I know a CEO can't have too much sway over how the ride is designed but it just all seems a bit strange to me. Either way they should be a bit ashamed of themselves... this ride appears to be somewhat of a failure
  10. Jamberoo's new Dark Mammoth waterslide 'The Taipan' has been advertised quite heavily here in Sydney which is good to see. I have seen and heard a number of both television and radio commercials. It is great that Jamberoo is so enthusiastically promoting this new attraction. I hope it does well and allows them to continue on with their expansion plans. It would be great to get some pics if anyone manages to go. Apparantley it opens this Saturday
  11. Ofcourse they could not extend the track with the ride in its current form and achieve a suitable outcome. The coaster can hardly finish the course as it is. As far as I'm concerned it goes back to what we were saying before - the track overall is just completely wrong. Although I was never overly excited about the idea of a motorbike coaster, the one thing I was looking forward to was some nice hills and the airtime or whatever comes with them. I had a look at some videos of other motorbike coasters overseas and most of them have that similar out and back track pattern with quite a few hills thrown in. This apprantley makes them quite an enjoyable ride. Unfortunately Dreamworld/Intamin chose to rewrite the standard and created this new track which is not only too short but lacks any airtime hills. Why would they take out the most fun part of a coaster for the sake of 'realism'? And even though the ride is ridiculously short, it STILL manages to loose momentum. And I feel this will be the case no matter what speed they set the launch on
  12. Oh my god I just watched the video again. I counted the ride time from start to finish as around 40 seconds and that is with the coaster CRAWLING around the last few corners. Imagine if it gets sped up = we'll be looking at a 30 second ride. This is a disgrace! Add more track for goodness sake Dreamworld! How cheap are they!
  13. Why is it that in almost every thread where AlexB has a post a big disagreement breaks out that goes on forever and ends up with AlexB writing out a monologue defending himself. Just an observation. Yeah I agree let's get back on topic and discuss Dreamworld's disappointing new attraction
  14. I agree! I can't believe this coaster has ended up looking better than the Motocoaster at Dreamworld... but it has. I thought it would be the other way around. Dreamworld underdelivered whereas WnW has come through with the goods. I'm glad they went with a proper water jet as it helps tie it in with the waterpark theme. I wasn't happy about having a dry ride in a waterpark when I heard about this originally but it makes more sense if you get drenched. The surfboard is a good look too
  15. Um how can you say WnW will always be better? How can you know what exists in the future? You have no idea what plans WWW has for future expansion. It's a pretty silly comment really
  16. Gazza that is a classic! Well said. Where on earth did you get that pic from? I'd love to know more about this 'snail coaster'... Looks far more interesting than DW's very average Motocoaster
  17. That's good to see they've updated the site. Now they need to update the park map to include the new attraction
  18. Aaaah so disappointing. I'm sorry I can't hold in my negativity any longer. I reckon this coaster is going to be a fizzer. I doubt they could make it run much faster as the initial force could end up being too strong. Dreamworld's obsession with motorbike racing and trying to make this like a REAL motor race rather than just a fun ride has probably stuffed things up. There are not enough hills/drops to speed the train up throughout the course. Also, it is waaay too short! There is not enough track, it is over in 2 seconds. And finally it is probably one of the ugliest roller coasters I have ever seen - the track, the multi-coloured bikes - PATHETIC. I know I've probably just upset the fan boys but too bad this is the way I feel
  19. Considering the small size of WhiteWater World, the park should be advertising ANY new attraction. Besides, 2 new duelling cannon bowls is still a significant addition
  20. They open a new attraction at WhiteWater World and there is absolutely no mention of it on the official website. How ridiculous!! I think the marketing people need to get their stuff together. Little Rippers should have it's own news heading, listing in the rides section and inserted onto the park map
  21. It has turned out well. Nice and neat and I'm glad to see they made some attempt to continue the landscaping. It has certainly opened up the area a bit
  22. I actually love that name. They have managed to tie it in with The Rip as well as keeping in with the Aussie theme
  23. Well if they were so worried about congestion they would fix the mine ride and open it again. Or build something substantial within Dreamworld to replace Blue Lagoon. As far as I'm concerned this motocoaster can not be considered an additional attraction at this stage but merely a replacement. The mine ride was a great fun little coaster and I don't think the motocoaster will be all that different from it in terms of thrills etc. So as I said at the moment it's basically just a replacement ride
  24. I have no idea how this particular wheel works, but how on earth can 2 Ferris Wheel carriages crash into each other? Aren't they all attached to the samer outer rim? Or is this some weird kind of design where they all operate independently on a track? This incident doesn't look great for Sea World considering the Korean accident appears to have been almost identical. Maybe they will now be glad they are not keeping the eye permanently
  25. I remember someone else on here (can't remember who sorry) suggested 'Big 6 Thrill Fix' - I thought that was brilliant!
