  1. As a general rule I avoid most spinning rides now so you don't need to worry.
  2. The smaller model Giant Frisbee would be a huge drawcard for the Perth audience... I meant...
  3. Oooh, if we want to talk about rides that have made us feel horrible... Hard Rock - Rode at the Ekka many years back. Came so close to yakking I had to sit down on a milk crate next to the ride and chill out for twenty minutes. White Cyclone - Wooden roller-coaster at Nagashima Spa Land, Japan. The first time I rode it in 2012 the bottom of the dips vibrated so hard one of my wisdom teeth compacted into one of my other teeth and gave me a splitting headache that wrote me off for the rest of the day. When I rode it again in 2014 it was fine and dandy.
  4. Speaking of, it'll be interesting to see what the temporary shop looks like inside and whether or not they've worked it into the confines of the existing attraction or cut into it.
  5. Haha you are 100% correct. Too late to fix up now unless one of the forum gods has a moment. ( @Richard?)
  6. I'm going to keep my list Australian. Favourites 1) Superman - it's the country's best coaster. No contest. 2) Abyss - The best bang for buck coaster style out there. 3) Tower of Terror - The original and the best. When it first opened it was something else. Lap-bars, full speed, full height. 4) Jet Rescue - Out of control, simple, exciting. Who-ever designated is as a family coaster is a crazy man, and I love them. Bottom of the barrel 1) Motocoaster - Sorry Dreamworld, but it's true. Call it a sign of management at the time, the fact that it could've been a Vekoma Motorbike Coaster and swapped at the last minute for something Intamin somehow turned into a huge mistake. Terrible station design, terrible placement in the park and a bland ride experience. The park would be better off selling it (not hard given the way it was constructed) and turning back into vintage cars. I'm genuinely not one of these overly nostalgic people, change is good, but they destroyed a generational icon in the park and replaced it with something that further ruined another area of the park that was Disney-esque and I really do believe the ride is just so bad that very few guests if any would mourn its loss. Let me put it to you this way, the vintage cars had charm because you could drive it around rides, over bridges, through tunnels etc. all the things the current iteration doesn't have and so if you surveyed guests "would you rather a) Vintage cars back where they were and Mine Ride to open but kill Motocoaster or B ) keep things exactly as they are?" I guarantee most guests would vote the former.
  7. A quick Google makes me think this is it:
  8. Furthering this chain of thought, presuming the primary reason they tried to replace steam completely with a diesel alternative was because of ongoing fuel costs (granted there's other costs like staff, boiler servicing etc.), is there a possibility of a way or a group that'd be interested in doing any conversions or updates needed to the current Steam engine to bring it into an eco/cost friendly 2016? Basically, say Dreamworld were reading this and the brief was "we can't afford to keep doing what we were doing because the fuel cost was hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, what else can we do to keep steam going?" what would you recommend?
  9. Just you wait until you watch my Hot Wheels Sidewinder video. Terrible audio for days.
  10. I would love to see something like this, which is a POV of one of the coasters Richard mentioned in his article.
  11. Whatever they erect in that hole, I hope it lasts the distance. Bonus joke? What did the kiwi coaster enthusiast put on their Tinder profile? They were really intamin. In-ta-min.
  12. And that's the reality really. For what it's worth, putting a sweet little bridge in over to the unused island and doing a cool little jungle zone would be perfect for the cubs, relative access but higher initial cost given whole new infrastructure (pathways, electrical, etc. etc.) . If i'm being honest, alot of this seems very permanant (atleast this little area that they're putting in next to Tailspin, I could also be looking into it too much.
  13. Not thrilled by the placement. It bothers me that almost everything new has to be jammed into one tiny corner of the park. In saying that, I get it too, it's the most logical place to put it given its easy back of house access to the rest of the Tiger Island care facilities. Surely there comes a point where the park goes "oh look, let's spend another 10k+ on facilities/access, put it somewhere new and exciting, grow the park and expand the park out a bit instead of building literally infront other attractions."
  14. Just because they drive a steam train doesn't necessarily mean their way of communication is also from the same period:
  15. The parks in Australia (and in general) take trade secrets very seriously. Those of us who might know something in advance aren't about to destroy our working relationship or in some cases risk being fired by breaking an employee NDA just for some gossip. I'd much rather be able to have the opportunities i'm afforded to make great content and even be actually appreciated by the parks then go back five-ten years ago when the parks frowned on our insanely obsessive, dramatic niche community. The parks (from day to day staff to management) read the forums and people have been fired before for matters like this and so no one, myself included, just aren't going to come out and openly say what we know. In saying that, if you've been reading these forums for a while, it's easy to spot who's a reputable source and who's not, so if someone reputable says something like "I think they'll really twin hammer the such and such" you should pay attention. With all this in mind, when the trusted sources that have been around for years (Parkz especially) all but confirm an attraction in an article or it pops up on a source like RCDB that's been around for decades, let me tell you, it's probably going to be that attraction. This hasn't been the first time Parkz called an attraction subtlety in advance either. I'm all for speculation, it's part of the fun, but there comes a point when channel 9 literally show footage of a specific ride when you can safely say the ride type is confirmed and anymore speculation is redundant. Food for thought, how do you propose Channel 9 decide to show specific footage of a specific ride if they get the same press release as everyone else?
  16. I thought the several pages of hammer puns would've solidified it by now.
  17. Channel 9 showed at least ten solid seconds of twin hammer footage. How less subtle does literally every reputable news source (Parkz & OurWorlds included) need to be about what ride is coming?
  18. You should read the articles out there about it right now. Here's two.
  19. One for me and one for you! When I make a visit out next I'll be quite keen to try the food. I've heard it's virtually all handmade so It'll be interesting to see where it lands in terms of their offerings and other new outlets across the highway like Dirty Harry grill etc. I think it's been good overall. Those cars are a part of history, and what they've done is great. Is it odd that there's this museum exhibit in a theme park? Yeah. Is it odd that it's in ocean parade? Yeah. But despite the oddities it's a solid build. What I hope is that Dreamworld builds on it and improves it over time. It could be amazing with a little more love once when they figure out what works and what doesn't.
  20. I just got this too. I certainly hope this isn't an early end of the monthly subscription, i'm a big fan of it and despite being in its infancy i've found so many friends and families engaged by the idea.
