From what I know, the only deaths we've had in our theme parks have been In pools and not on rides. I do remember a while ago (a long while ago) that one of the cable catches came loose on giant drop during high winds and nearly struck a rider, hence the overhead steel mesh you see today. Outside of that and what you see elsewhere on the forums, the parks do have some epic safety standards. There's always things that go on inside parks that doesn't make media or these forums but that's to be expected too.

Two updates for the Parkz folks. Tailspin has entered testing today, meanwhile there's just heaps and heaps of stuff happening in-park right now. It's exciting to see and to me signals a huge turnaround for Dreamworld. Over at Tailspin, new Ocean Parade signage is in. How sexy are the new planes? One of the shops in Main Street is all but gone and getting ready for its fresh new redo. Read my take and check out the rest here. #moist If you're unlucky, those cannons go from refreshing to drenching in a split second. Some cool close up action of the refreshed Wipeout. Checkout the full Wipeout refresh review and photos here.

I think JLindsell and I were there the same day, work's really progressing along. It's going to be big - the ride is snug up against the Wipeout and Shockwave. A closer look at the action taking place. Cranes, cherry pickers and workers galore were onsite to bring this behemoth together. A did a quick write-up with some other angles to checkout here.

I'm sure mods of the forum will want you to post them directly onto here. Might I suggest http://imgur.com? -
Or they're bringing back the train.

Parkz News Sea World's Sea Viper closes after 32 years

Kind of awesome they're getting rid of the bridge. That whole space was a mess when jet rescue opened and I'm glad they're seizing the opportunity to make that area better. Exciting times ahead. Maybe they'll finally fix up the train? /sarcasm -

Could this be a subtle hint to the future of Chinatown? -
100000% agreed. I think it was largely how they handled it too - I don't think they even really knew what the actual story was internally which has reflected poorly - I was at the park even just the other week and overheard and exchange where a little girl asked her mother what that ride was to which the mum replied "oh, it used to be this awesome ride, but I don't think it's open anymore, I wish it was though." This is six nearly eight years after the ride technically closed too - if this sort of thing is still happening nearly a decade on in a park then doing what Joz said and atleast integrating it into the themeing and properly hiding it so people don't look at it with fond memories of what their day could've been like had the ride been open would be a great start.

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck.

I think it's fair to say the park finally has some vision again, which is a pleasant change of pace.

Village Roadshow and Sanderson set sights on Asia
Slick replied to themeparkgc's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I can just think of the naming conventions now.. "Alien vs. predator vs. you - the 4d ride experience roller coaster, at 21st century fox world. " Out of all the options fox studios isn't so bad, the issue is I'd say it probably doesn't work as a fully fledged theme park. Fox world? Too cheasy? Any other ideas? -

20th century fox world is definitely a mouthful. -
These machines do thousands of incredibly safe yet high-speed, high g-force manoeuvres daily and yet still don't kill anyone and people get annoyed that the ride's safety features stop the ride automatically instead of smashing a group of people into the wall at great force? I can tell you now all parks maintain their rides to a high level, for if they didn't and something went wrong and they didn't either a) follow the manufacturer's specs or failed to comply with state regulations or c) failed to comply with insurance regulations, they and their operators would be directly liable for any wrongdoing, and that's certainly a situation someone 'no' one wants to. Sure, some operators are able to mitigate guest frustrations better then others when stuff like this happens, but it's not like the mechanics are leaving bolts off rides and dawdling to rides when they breakdown - this isn't Rollercoaster Tycoon, folks.

I drove past there not too long ago. The greenish track is very visible over the fenceline - good move by Aussie World.

I'm sure there's some that totally get it, i'm also over reading pages of dribble about powersurges when it's been right under everyone's nose the entire time. In other news, i'm really looking forward to seeing Wipeout completely done. It seems like people will be able to walk right up to the ride and "nearly" touch it now - that's going to be a pain for operators to supervise now but a big win for us wanting to take photos of the reno.

Cheers for nicking my photo and not giving due credit. Makes my efforts as a photographer almost worthwhile. Yep very filtered as they came straight from the parking lot and I'm not too fussed on processing in my car. Expect some proper processing soon. It looks good. Not sure about the logo on the boards. Looks to much like game wipeout and not the ride. They were waterproofing today. The smell of sealant was intoxicating both figuratively and literally.

Yeah would've loved to see the light blue aqua look again, however I don't think it'll be a big issue personally - for me it'll be all about if the pool makes a return. In fact it'll be cool to see if there's any new, original ideas being brought into the mix. That'll be a nice surprise, and perhaps will go down as a mark in the sand for a shift from the park we're used to seeing, which I'd say up until recently hasn't had an original thought that wasn't positive.

SFMM - Colossus to close August 16, 2014
Slick replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'm 99% confident it's not closing forever but rather being overhauled by a company like rmc. As is the rides days are numbered. Honestly though, from what I've seen anything from rmc will be awesome.
