  1. If you feel height is a problem then do TOT first since it doesnt go all the way up the tower, and since you face towards the sky you dont notice the height much at all.
  2. I was just going by an interview posted on Ozcoaster with WVTP CEO John Menzies. An attraction like this was mentioned as a possibility. Also, IMO i dont really care who makes the movies that attractions are themed around, Im more interested in them being made into good rides. Maybe one day they will simply call the park "Movie World" if many non WB attractions were built.
  3. Just on that IOA issue, is the park actually profitable year to year and able to meet its debts. $2 billion is a huge investment, and it would be a shame to see them pull the plug on the park if there were no better times in sight.
  4. Funny you should mention Pizza Hut, we couldnt find one. It seems dine in ones are a rarity these days. I have never been to ripleys though, can someone elaborate more on the sorts of things you can do there?
  5. What about the Simtech darkride system (DW uses it on Big Red Car) Looking at their website they actually have a moving base version of their own, as well as all the other add ons such as laser guns etc. The fact there is no track is really appealing, it would allow for erratic movements etc and the technology could be pushed much further than what DW did with it. And I imagine it would be cheaper than Intamin. I like the earlier idea of doing a Harry Potter interactive dark ride, i can just imagine it being a terrifying trip through the castle with a boss battle against Voldemort at the end, with your car sort of circling around. Not for younger kids though. And Brendan, i like your idea of having proper themed areas, we are already seeing the begginnings of this, but they could divide it up like this. -Chinatown -Gotham City -Metropolis City -Main Street -Wild West -Looney Tunes Village -Entertainment Avenue (this would be an extension of main street sort of cutting off the northern end of the wild west area since the matrix exhibit kind of wrecked it, and could include the Matrix Exhibit and the Australian Idol attraction mentioned in an interview with John Menzies posted on Ozcoaster, perhaps with another attraction to round it off, it would have more of a modern urban feel (Think Hollywood at night))
  6. Richo actually made a really good post for a DW stratergy. You might as well go on everything because you can. While you would naturally do your favourties first there is no reason not to do everything you want to. Who knows, after riding Cyclone (Its not even that bad) and the rest you might be in the mood to do TOT and GD. However, if you are going to do GD, just do it straight off as it has horrendous capacity and you dont want to be waiting ages or miss out. Just walk in and ride it, you will love it. It seems whenever you ride with people who are scared at the start, they just jump off and ride it again. Unfortunatley, i cant find that post, ill have a look, or Rich may beat me to it. EDIT: here it is.
  7. If you are heading up in January the park will be in full gear, Superman will be firing on all cylinders and the staff are dedicated, so you should be able to get as many rides as you please. Ride it whenever because the queues arent that bad with 2 train operation. When i went i got there before opening, when they do open rides dont start for half an hour which was plenty of time to get organized (Get an all day locker if you want one etc) Scooby Doo and Wild West actually get longer waits (longer ride duration + broader appeal) so they are better to do early. I did both right at the start and got 2 rides on each with no queue. And maybe actually do batwing first since it is a lower capacity ride and the new thing, so that could lead to long lines. LW, Batman Adventure, and Road Runner just do whenever. And dont forget Shrek 4D, its excellent!
  8. Thats the whole point though. At least we are debating in a thread out of the way of the others. I think though one of the main attractions of woodies is the fact they can do these sort of layouts cheaper than steel.
  9. Im not really bothered, both types can be very good, or very bad depending on how its designed, who makes it etc. Im more interested in DW getting a good coaster rather than any paticular type. But with DWs maintenance quality, I wouldnt trust them with a woodie.
  10. Well, there is a bit of a waiting list for their rides. Agreed, it seems silly the government would make a law about a ride that there is only a few of in the world.
  11. The last I saw of it was a concrete slab. Is it a roller rink?
  12. Because the viewer might own a 1m wide plasma with good speakers (not me though) and might want to enjoy the program on that rather than the small, blurry youtube screen. Oh, and maybe they dont want to break copyright laws either?
  13. Going by the date this video may have been taken on the night.
  14. Hmm, but you would get 2 experiences if for example you used your pass at WnW and MW (wet and dry park). Also, a world pass only gives you 2 days of entry, but a Summer pass gives you three 3 (with more total park hours if you visit WnW at night). so it is worth the extra $13 (An extra $13 works out to paying only $3.25 p/p for a whole extra day) Plus i feel the Summer pass is better value because WnW is a bigger park than WWW (though WWW has the new rides) and MW is a higher quality park than DW. And as for the flexiblity aspect, you dont have to wait till Jan 1st to park hop... you can already do it with the summer pass. And of course, there is that added bit of flexiblity of going to SW as a 3rd option in your combination. Personally i think the Fun Pass is the best value of all though.
  15. Nah, its just an Intamin launched coaster with steel supports/track built in a style that resembles the wooden coasters found commonly at pleasure piers.
  16. Yeah, but notice nobody has mentioned a ferris wheel I never questioned that rides like reef diver or angry beavers can make you sick.
  17. I dont know why DW rulz had a problem with that. I was just saying the information in context. In his earlier comment he said I was merley juxtaposing the actual numbers together to prove that it wasnt such an unfair match up (2 against 3). Still, i think its funny how you forgot about an entire theme park, and then went off when I pointed it out in a way i felt expressed my self in the clearest manner. (Or should i say "most clearest") Anyway, enough with the arguing... There is no doubt WWW is a great park and $42 isnt too bad, its just the annual pass situation is silly. But Adam makes a good point, if the prices are too low then demand will be too high and they will have persistent "sell outs", if they put the put the price up a bit at least demand will be regulated a bit.
  18. Well for starters, WVTP owns 3 parks, MLT owns 2 parks, so get the facts straight for starters. In a competitive market you cant just price based around your size, without thinking about what people will pay. Think about it this way, In my town there are 2 McDonalds (same owner for both) and one Hungry Jacks. Similarly there are two Safeways, but only one Coles. Does this mean that Coles and Hungry Jacks can charge more for equivalent products just because they dont have the same market penetration and have not spent the extra money on opening stores? Of course not, they are basically neck. I think its odd that you seem to think that because a park is smaller it has a right to charge more because it wouldnt get the same numbers of visitors. Why should a park who has spent less on new rides and efforts to get more customers be "rewarded" by simply charging more. If you are not spending enough on capital then you cannot expect the same profits as someone who has. Going by your logic i could buy one of those little clam shaped pools and a slide from a toy store, paint a sign and call it "Gavs Splash Land", but i can charge $2000 admission because im not going to get the same visitors and I dont have the same number of rides as other waterparks.
  19. I know what you mean, I like Ozcoaster though, it never intends to be the biggest or most revolutionary, its basically just a laid back site for Ian to show off his work really, nice little site though.
  20. What has that got to do with it? -A summer pass (2 Parks) is cheaper than a world pass. -An aqua max pass costs more than a Wet'n'Wild season pass -WWW one day entry costs more than WnW one day entry -Maquarie places more restrictions on their tickets, such as not being able to park hop with a world pass (compared to a summer pass) and being blocked out of visiting WWW on a season ticket for roughly a quarter of the time.
  21. What I want to know now is, what will WWW do if WnW simply puts in new slides that directly compete with DWs new offerings? According to the WWW website the Rip cost about $1.4 mil from memory (lol too lazy to check), and that is just a fraction of what WnW spent on all its expansions. I mean they could always just install say a couple of master blasters, and a couple of cannon bowls off the one tower, it could be done for under 5 mil and basically then the only real point of difference between both parks is WWW having BRO. But i must say its odd how WWW havent tried to better any of WVTPs deals, they are charging more for tickets, i guess they must be relying soley on the parks novelty...
