  1. Dan was saying that he would not be able to differentiate between poo and clay.
  2. Is that the one where you start off by going through a revolving tunnel, then through a mirror maze, and then down a short slide into a ball pit, and then out of that and through a second revolving tunnel which leads onto a set of stairs, after that its a bunch of punching bag type things that you push through that leads onto a spiral slide exit? I remember going on a funhouse type thing like that when i was around 5 or 6 at the Adelaide show. Ah good times.
  3. Yeah, they are pretty cool, but i dont get why they bothered with all the top part of the cone since no raft would ever get up that high.
  4. Here is a link to a page containig the rides you were thinking of : http://www.proslide.com/whatsnew/whatsnew.htm
  5. What about what people say whilst on the coaster???
  6. Thanks, but why do you need to get the OK from LPM managment, since FOLP is independent of them.
  7. I just wanted to know, does anybody know the contact details, websites etc for the Melbourne Friends of Luna Park (FOLP) Group?
  8. You are either thinking of a proslide Tornado or a Bemothbowl.
  9. What you are forgetting is DW makes its decisons from a buisness perspective. Its not like DW managment goes and says, "well there is already a waterpark on the gold coast so lets not build one", the idea is to be competitve in buisness. Thats why parks cater to many markets. Why is MW building superman? To attract thrill riders, why is DW opening wiggles world? To attract families. If MW caters to families as you state, why does it have LW and SM If DW caters to high thrills as you state, why does it have nick central and AWE? If seaworld caters to Animal lovers as you state, why does it have Rides like corkscrew or a waterpark. These parks do have a sort of focus, but there is nothing wrong with straying from them, which is why DW could get a waterpark, to broaden its focus. Many people on these forums do like thrill rides, we just think that the thunderbolt site may not be the best for one. Personally, i would like a whole new waterpark as much as a new thrill ride. The point im trying to make is that if a waterpark was built on the TB site, it would be a seperate entity to ocean parade, so it could have a different theme to the overused ocean parade theme. Think of it this way, Blue Lagoon borders Rocky Hollow, but does it have a rocky hollow theme? No. So if a waterpark is next to ocean parade, why should it have an Ocean Parade theme? Apart from wave pools, its just hard to give anything else in terms of waterpark attractions an Ocean theme. A lazy river is a good exampe, how do you theme a river to an ocean?
  10. You asked for it. Asian Rainforest - http://www.balivision.com/travel/images/waterbom_4.jpg Arabian - http://www.kidsclubholidays.com/dubai/dubai-image3.jpg Australiana - http://www.jamberoo.net/R_billabong.asp Alpine - http://www.orlando-sunshine-villas.co.uk/i...zzard_beach.jpg African - http://www.kalahariresort.com/WI/Waterpark...ides.aspx?rID=3 Wild West - Well i couldnt find anything, but think along the lines of WWF, but waterslides instead of a boat ride. Another thing to note, it would most likley be seperated admission with a seperate entry. So it would only neighbour Ocean Parade. Making it a maching theme would be like saying WnW should have a movie theme because its next door to WBMW.
  11. Hmm, there are a few themes that they could do. -Australiana -Rainforest/Amazonian -Some sort of ancient civilisation (Egyptian, arabian) -A simple unthemed waterpark (eg bright coloured slides with nice plant life) -Pacifc Islands -Wild Western -Carribean -African -Snow/Alpine Personally I would like a nice rainforest theme with ruins and stonework. like something you would see in Thailand or Vietnam. It would just be relaxing and inviting. Think tomb raider.
  12. It would make sense for Dw to get a waterpark, since DW could do their own park hopper type deal between the waterpark and the dry park. I would also be easier to build a waterpark from scratch since it could be master plannned to make efficient use of space and have intergrated attractions (like Wild Wadi, Schlitterbahn beach etc). But one question, why is it that everyone thinks that an expansion at the TB site should carry the Ocean Parade theme. It's as if people think it is the only theme possibility for the area. Once upon a time Country Fair and Ocean parade co-existed there so why cant we have a different themed area instead of just an oceanic theme?
  13. What about a drop in the river caves? That was one thing i was thinking of. Notice how zig zag only occupies one end of the river caves roof. The other end could have a higher roof to accomadate a drop inside. There would be a vertical lift to save space and a u turn and a drop would follow. BTW, the seperate support structure at the right was meant to be a huss shot n drop, which would occupy that space. And Huss, why dont you try doing a design of your own, with the ride choices you want?
  14. The new big dipper has 3 inversions. I have attached a NL screenshot of the layout, the inversions are an inside top hat, an immellmann and a vertical loop. The problem with LPM is that its too much like going to a carnival or a show. If you just put in more rides of the same format eg zippers, rainbows etc, its really just the same thing it already is, carnie rides set up permanently. And it is this format that has caused the park to be a financial drain for its owners. But lets break down the rides into their categories. THRILL New big dipper Skyrocket Tornado Rotor? BROAD APPEAL Zig Zag River Caves Giggle Palace? Scenic Railway Dodgems Ghost Train KIDS Carousel Luna Twirler Luna Jumper Luna Flyer Bay Balloons I think I have a fairly even split between demographics (4, 6 and 5 respectivley), and you have to keep in mind that people will ride rides for other demographics, eg thrill riders will ride on the dodgems, zig zag, scenic raliway etc and Kids will ride on the river caves, ghost train, giggle palace etc. IMO its not wether a ride is thrilling, its wether its fun. I have tried to make sure my ride choices are ones that are fun for most people. I mean, of my ride choices, i think that basically anyone from here would ride most of the attractions (apart from the kids rides, but even then if you were visiting with a younger child, you might ride along too.
  15. That sure is a strange idea, but yes, it would be pretty funny seeing the guy on the ride spinning around. But im unsure wether he would ride on it in the first place.
  16. The problem is the lack of space, I could have put 5 or so more flat rides in, but that would have been at the expense of returning the classics like the river caves and the giggle palace. Still having 3 thrill rides is fine (Big Dipper, Skyrocket, Tornado) because it was originally more family oriented in the first place. And anyway, the Skyrocket would be a huss ride.
  17. OK, I have done my final final version. The rides are: 1) Ghost Train 2) Zig Zag - Spinning Coaster 3) River caves (Below Zig Zag) 4)Carousel 5)Giggle Palace 6)Scenic Railway 7)Rotor (inside) 8)Dodgems (inside) 9)Tornado (Typhoon) 10) Luna Twirler (Zamperla Mini Teacup) 11) Luna Jumper (Zamperla Mini Bounce) 12) Luna Flyer (Zamperla Crop Duster) 13) Bay Balloons 14)Skyrocket 15) The new big dipper.
  18. I think the main point of hydraulics is that it is easier to attain faster acceleration, which is what it is all about.
  19. Its probably going to be more than one thread per QLD park, at least for the popular ones. Where else will people complain about bad paintjobs and long lines. But i can see where you are coming from. With BB, it was inevitable, were they really going to run a coaster out by itself in an industrial estate as an attraction?
  20. Yeah, i get you exactly. So its like the whole "backrest" can be lifted up and down and the horsecollar is attached to that. I suppose if they wanted to make it easier for riders, they could just have TVs in the last few switchbacks of the queuing area that loop a short video showing how to position their restraint properly for their height. But anyway, back to DWs new coaster. I think in terms of size it should be about 5 inversions. Another gimmick idea could be just to buy a clone of colossus from Thorpe, that would give them a world record (even if it is shared) and it would be cost effective. Of course they could take the record outright by adding one more barrel roll
  21. So with standup coasters, how exactly do the seats work? I know that there is like a wedge type thing between your legs, but do you actually sit on it or it it just there at a lower level where only your legs touch but not your bottom. And how do you adjust it?
  22. I can see where you are coming from, but as they say, a picture paints a thousand words. If there was an image like this: http://www.rcdb.com/ig581.htm?picture=16 It would pretty much tell people what the ride does. But anyway, its difficult to explain many ride types. Like how would you describe a gyro swing or a topscan to a non enthusiast? If you worded it right it could convey the message. But in terms of replacing the thunderbolt, the ride would need to have a gimmick be it standup or floorless. I think that it should be on the thunderbolt site, but it it were designed well it could make good use of the space. Also, i think the rides entrance could be somewhere else, eg in Tiger island, then it could be given a kingda ka type theme which would be cool.
  23. But that would have delayed the demolition by 9 months
