  1. Hopefully. I think they would have learnt from their mistakes with the Backlot and come up with something better. And we need something closer to Universal Studios - though something in the vein of Islands of Adventure hopefully. I don't know where they'd build though. Titanic was pretty cool. When I went with my stepsister, we had virtually no queue. So each of us experienced the complete attraction -- you could only do the attraction once -- she went in the line to go down with the ship and I was to be the survivor. The first room had both queue lines and we were told we were Irish people off to a new life in America. Irish music played as we set sail. Then as I recall we had the impact and were seperated. I went through some random hallways and we went up a staircase to reach a locked door. As the water rose, we tried another hallway and stairway and got another locked door but a Cast Member playing a ship steward saw us from the other side and let us through. As we scrambled up the deck, we passed through the gymnasium from the movie with the old equipment and 'outside'. we were led down the gangplank and into lifeboats which were lowered into the water. as we started to pull away, we watched as the ship sank beneath the waves. my stepsister's experience was more as a third class passenger. she saw the underbelly of the ship, the boiler rooms, which were apparently really hot, then somehow the third class passengers ended up in that really nice room from the movie with the staircase/clocks . Suddenly a massive tearing noise filled the room and a projection screen showed water coming in. My sister and the rest of her group were led out past a ghostly sunken wreck version of the staircase. A ghostly cast member advised everyone: 'Sorry, you're all dead now!'. Apparently he played it for laughs -- kinda ****ty if you ask me considering that the attraction/movie is based on a real life tragedy. and we found each other at the exit. I still have my photo somewhere taken overhead of me in the lifeboats, will try to track it down the rest was very touristy, there was some musical show with emus and kangaroos and crap and elements of priscilla and all that... a cool room of props , clothing and outfits from Saving Private Ryan, Predator etc...a few sets to wander through like a police station toilet (from NYPD Blue I think?), various others ... and one of the old Home & Away diner sets (the one before the current diner I think) i think that's all there was to the place really, don't remember any other rides. attendance was low and remember the place was expensive but my stepsister took me so i'd have to ask her if she remembers how much the place cost.
  2. Yeah, I was there one day with Daniel and his thongs were stolen from his Wave Pool deck chair -- and I don't think he got them back either. Personally, I haven't hidden my mother's cup. Haha.
  3. Ok this is me scribbling something quick since I am about to get to bed but basically there is a dark lift hill part, a lit room at the top then you drop down backwards into an outdoors part - but it's not that bad. After drifting backwards for a bit, a turntable rotates you around. You drift along, seeing teepees, ghost town etc. During the ghost town there are bullet noises, they're not overly loud. After this you go up another lift hill and then into a room. After a bit, the doors open up and you plunge down the drop. It's very wet, certainly the most drenched you'll get on a ride of its kind at the Gold Coast (DW being 2nd and quite soaking, SW being pathetically minimal; also the smallest drop by far). Heaps of fun, not that intense at all, maybe a bit nervewracking the first ride but more drenching than anything. And it's lovely to do on a really warm day (which is mostly every day I guess ) anyway enjoy
  4. I don't think Richard'd appreciate me talking about Zen Coaster on here so feel free to hit me up on MSN. matinee_mobster@hotmail.com is my address. Yeah it was a bummer. That's the second time something like that happened. Years ago I went to Universal Studios Hollywood - would have been around '92-93 - and the Back to the Future Ride construction was underway. Have always been a big BTTF fan and so to be so close and yet so far was torture (particularly being a little kid). I had to resign myself to getting a picture of me with my stepsister next to the cartoon Doc & Marty that was on the construction fence. Went back in 2000 and raced straight there This time it was of course open. And February last year in Orlando, it was with much pleasure that I did the BTTF one there.
  5. http://au.tv.yahoo.com/searchresults.html?...amp;x=0&y=0 Monday Nov 13 2006 Time Channel Program 08:30AM Discovery Science Building a Thrill Ride: Expedition Everest - (G) 12:00PM Discovery Science Building a Thrill Ride: Expedition Everest - (G) 08:30PM Discovery Science Building a Thrill Ride: Expedition Everest - (G) Tuesday Nov 14 2006 Time Channel Program 12:00AM Discovery Science Building a Thrill Ride: Expedition Everest - (G) So a few chances for recording then. Looks like it'll be a good doco, definitely tuning in. When I was at Animal Kingdom in February '05, they just had the steel shell partially done and a concept painting to tease me. Next year when I get to Orlando, that'll probably be my first stop.
  6. I know what it is. And it'll be a brilliant addition
  7. We do pump people through really quickly on Tornado so you won't have to wait terribly long on any day. I think the fact there will be live music will probably bring a few extra punters but it shouldn't make a huge difference to the numbers & on the busy days this past week we didn't have problems keeping things moving. Yesterday I got to do two rotations on Tornado which is good as it's definitely my favourite ride to operate...
  8. I think Saturday would be pretty fine -- the word will surely have been out that the Tornado was open early. What other days do you have to choose from? Why not Monday? Tuesday would be also be good.
  9. Ok. I leave here at 9 to start my shift at 9.45 so you'd have to be on before then.
  10. Oh no, people don't like skateboarding/blading/BMX/live music do they?!? And good on them for trying to do something a bit different. If a few of them are there to find themselves someone of the opposite sex, good for them. They're going to do that anyway. At least WNW will be a safe place for Schoolies and girls won't have to worry about the prospect of drink-spiking, sexual assault and the like...
  11. I'll talk to you about this privately, James, but I can throw a pass your way so you'll be able to get in for free.
  12. I'll do it for free in exchange for front-row privileges & queue skipping whenever I like. I can't guarantee the safety of the public or current ACTIVE attractions though
  13. Most of the time it's like so... attendant: top of the slides/attraction; lifeguard: The bottom.
  14. I'm an attendant but will be doing lifeguard training and transferring to that position when the next opportunity presents itself. The recent intake brought a heap of attendants in but not lifeguards so there will definitely be call for them. I should be there on the 18th. 17th I have off but they seem to like employing me for both days of a weekend and about 3/5 weekdays & I'm on this coming Monday so maybe they'll repeat the pattern, at least for a few weeks. I'll let you know. If I'm not working on the 18th, I could just come hit the park with you and any others from the forum that you end up meeting.
  15. And be sure to come say hello to me I'll be working 5-9 next Saturday night and, going off my current roster, during the week will probably be 9.45-5. We get rotated every 50-60 minutes, sometimes a bit less regularly so I'm sure you'll find me at some stage...
  16. And my point, which you don't seem to grasp is, that I say I will do it because of intentions but things come up. It's not a case of me saying I'm going to do something I won't be.
  17. No, it's not starting to get like anything. Fact is, none of the many people who work hard to provide you lot with updates don't have other priorities and things do come up sometimes and so plans can fall by the wayside a bit.
  18. Sorry man, have had a 1000-and-1 things on. You'll see them tonight or tomorrow morning.
  19. It's right by the railing overlooking the river. Not a HUGE footprint but then it's not trying to be the Disney tea cup ride nor does it have to be. Will have some pics up in next day or two.
  20. Thanks. You could do an Brangelina and adopt an African one... Actually that would come in handy for myself, particularly since I could then go ride the Pteradon Flyers at Islands of Adventure.
  21. And let's face it, anything for Wiggles World will only flesh it out more and hopefully get some more kids there. When IS the area actually full of kids? Whenever I pass through, sure you might get a few parents lining up with their children for the Big Red Car ride or a few in the Fun Spot but I *never* see anyone on the ship, door or hanging around the central area...
  22. That's what I was getting at by 'oh wait'... ...
