  1. Scandlus 'performed' in the Action Arena which was a very different place to Gold Nugget. "The Bus is now leaving for Nugget Bore, Western Australia"
  2. Don't get me wrong the person in question was a really good bloke and I was very good friends with him. However let’s get a couple of things straight about this case first. It was mid week, non-peak period and there were only two guests on the ride at the time, how many staff do you want operating the ride? One was enough. There was never a one ride rotation everyone was swapped around during the day, yes it may have only been once but they still rotated. This incident happened on the second cycle back after a break so unless he had a very short attention span he was not bored. Yes he did the right thing by informing the supervisor of what had happened. It was also the guests that told him what had happened so if they hadn't said anything nobody would have been any wiser. The supervisors and managers did the right thing by dismissing him, yes he was a fantastic operator and everyone liked him but a safety breach of that magnitude could not result and any other out come. Of course Wonderland would not have made it a legal dispute but it’s rather hard to hide a death or serious injury from the authorities (Police, Ambo's, WorkCover). WorkCover did come in several times and did inspections and found no major problems, yes they issued improvement notices but they were for minor things. Also the rides had an annual inspection by a WorkCover employee to certify that the ride was in working order. These annual inspections started after several accidents and deaths on carnie rides around the country. Insufficent rest periods? What other workplace where machinery is used do the workers have an hour rest break during the day? Some places provide 45 minutes tops but most give 30 minutes. "The Bus is now leaving for Big Break, Western Australia"
  3. In addition to that they came in by helicopter and landed in the car park just outside the security post. More than half the crowd that was gathered around the fence 'greeting' them were staff. "The Bus is now leaving for Helicopter Spur, Victoria"
  4. Yeah but someone still has to clean up all the crap (figuratively and literally) that comes out of the filters be it cartridge or sand. "The Bus is now leaving for Poothree Matoo Waterhole, Queensland"
  5. See my previous post in this thread to see how good he was. Yes he was great with the guests but sometimes that is just not enough. Curly are you talking about the mini probe sign that was out the front of the ride? "The Bus is now leaving for Mini Mini Range, NSW"
  6. Welcome Missy. You must scare easily if that was all it took to leave Wonderland. Anyway, that incident you talk about did happen but it was two teenage girls not a family that it happened to. The operator didn't even realise what he had done until the ride had finished and the girls went and asked him what the harnesses were for. He then found out that they didn't have them on for the entire ride. "The Bus is now leaving for Cape Missiessy, South Australia"
  7. I know that the loading area for Snowy has been demolished, as for the rest of the ride i am not sure but there is nothing you can do with a concrete trough anyway. Not sure when Bush Beast is coming down but March is the deadline as I have stated elsewhere so sometime around there I would guess. The only people left on the Wonderland site are the security personnel and they no longer work for Wonderland or Sunway but a separate company. So unless your contact worked in security they are no longer there. "The Bus is now leaving for Snowy Flat Creek, ACT"
  8. Thanks for that Gazza but I would also like to take the Operations manager position as well. One addition I thought of after looking at your map was to add a waterfall to the wave pool. Put it in front of the screen so it disguises the screen during the day and then turn off the waterfall when a movie is going to be shown. "The Bus is now leaving for Bong Bong Waterfall, NSW"
  9. There has been no work on the Wonderland site since before Christmas. They are still looking for/negotiating with potential buyers for Space Probe, Zodiac and the Beach Tower. From what I have heard they have until the end of January, but that may be and probably will be extended until March. Zodiac is still standing, you can see it when you are on the M4 heading west around Macca's. "The Bus is now leaving for McDonalds Siding, NSW"
  10. It actually makes a huge difference. Do you have any idea how long and what a complicated task it would be getting the people out of the train while it is in the boomerang? That would be a fantastic place to have brakes. If there was a power failure the ride would stop in the boomerang, great stuff for the people in the front and rear carriages, being stuck nearly upside down and all for a fair amount of time. Give me a date and time and I will believe you. I have operated Demon literally 1000's of times and have spoken to the maintenance, supervisors and other operators a lot about the incidents that have happened on that ride and every other ride and they have all said that it has never stopped in the boomerang while loaded. Wazza, who said I was working at the park when that incident occurred? "The Bus is now leaving for Upside Down River, NSW"
  11. I thought for 30 seconds and came up with Judy's Jetliners, Huckle Berry Hound's Merry-Go-Round, Magilla Gorilla's Flotilla, Boo Boo's Balloon's, Amplo's Antique Auto's, Speed Slide, Snowy River Rampage and they were all in just one park. Saying that I still agree that original names are necessary and looking at Gazza's list they seem to be original enough. "The Bus is now leaving for Thirty Seconds Slope, Tasmania"
  12. This question was answered just recently in another thread. Try here and possibly here for more details. "The Bus is now leaving for Thread Shoal, Queensland"
  13. Mickazee I noticed this bit of 'info' on your website but unfortunately whoever told you this was yanking your chain. Demon has never stopped in to boomerang with people on it. It did stop in the boomerang once during the morning maintenance check but with no one on it. When that happened the ride was closed for the whole day while they got the train out of that section using a crane and winches. "The Bus is now leaving for Yank Well, Western Australia"
  14. Galbraith is a skip as far as I know. I don't know if you know or not but he started off at Seaworld as a ride operator. When he went to Wonderland he took several people with him, Michael Croaker (Entertainment), Zoe Schblahblahblah (Operations) and a couple of others whose names escape me at the moment. "The Bus is now leaving for Escape Reef, Queensland"
  15. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Annual pass costs $150 at MW and $165 at DW. General admission is $60 each. Go three times and the pass has paid for itself. Anyone who has an annual pass isn't only going to go to the park once or twice they are going to go as much as they want/can. Just take Slick as an example he's there just about every weekend. "The Bus is now leaving for Fuss, Western Australia"
  16. I guess you get that information from a reliable source. I think that nobody who really knows will say anything until a formal press release comes out. Until then all we know is that it is going to be Superman themed, and even then I'm still going to wait for conformation from the park. "The Bus is now leaving for Mount Superbus, Queensland"
  17. Just a pity the rapids ride has been demolished. If Costa is Dr. Evil then who is Mini Me? And when is Mini Me going to smack Dr. Evil in the nuts with a ball on a string? "The Bus is now leaving for Mini Mini Saddle, NSW"

It looks the right height to me. I can't remember its exact height though. Steve, Paul's question was "Is there any other rides out there like Skyhawk?" not are there any other rides in that location. To answer your question Paul, I'm not sure but I would think that there would be/have been a few around as it was reasonably popular with families. "The Bus is now leaving for Tommy Hawk Bore, South Australia"
  19. So would I, but only to question their sanity. gbc, it might me an idea to read through the thread before you post next time. That information was posted a long time ago and it too had a link the RCDB. "The Bus is now leaving for Asylum Creek, NSW"
  20. Both of these comments have the same answer. Sunway bought Wonderland as an investment and the key thing with an investment is maximum profit for minimum outlay. I am sure everyone will agree that Sunway did that perfectly. The on site management could only do as much as their budget would allow and that meant a measly sum for advertising and a non-existent budget for new attractions(rides). Just like there is nothing wrong with Michael Costa, Andrew Refshauge, Diane Beamer, Morris Iemma, Craig Knowles, I would go on but I think you get the point. I agree with Zordy's analysis of Western Sydney's 'attractions'. The tourists who go to Featherdale only do so because it is on the way to the Blue Mountains, the same happened at Wonderland. Tour groups would literally there for 30 minutes, which was just enough time to get a photo with a Koala. Parklea markets a tourist attraction, hahahaha. Considering there is Paddy's in central Sydney why would tourists go out there, especially considering it's only open on weekends. The Olympic venues are hugely under-utilised. Yes the Sydney games where the best but that doesn't mean that 4 years later the venues are still popular. Warragamba Dam used to be completely open to the public, you could walk across it and even have a tour into it but now there is only a viewing platform at the other end of the town up on a cliff. "The Bus is now leaving for Hainault Tourist Mine, Western Australia"
  21. I know this is probably not the right place to post this question but seeing as it's about something that happened here I’m going to anyway. Richard why have you asked ausnrl to clean up his/her act in regards to sentence structure and punctuation when there a couple of members, who have been here much longer and therefore posted many more posts, do the same thing without any reprimand? I am not going to name anyone unless you ask me to. But all I’m asking for is consistency. "The Bus is now leaving for Cent Spur, NSW"
  22. As I said before that is the only occurrence of a lightning strike during operating hours that I know of and that caused minor damage because the ride was built to withstand that kind of thing. Yet again Alex has got it wrong. 10-12 was stop or standby. 10-22 was a lost child. Disregard was said and no code was used for it. See 10-12. The code for first aid required was a signal 51. 53 was Fire Brigade required. What lights and sirens? They were security not emergency services. A bomb threat was a signal 1000 not code 10. 61 Alpha was a call given to indicate a ride required maintenance to check it due to a problem. The ride had no guests on it. Example, a harness on Bounty's won't lock. The guests have been asked to get off and told there will be a delay. 61 Charlie was a call given to indicate a ride required maintenance to check it due to a problem. The ride had guests on it and may require evacuation. Example, Bush Beast stops on the lift and it cannot be started. "The Bus is now leaving for Codeys Mount, NSW"
  23. I don't know how you can make any assumptions on anything after seeing a couple or staff looking at one thing and then pointing at another thing. That's like me saying that I knew The Claw was going to be named that months before it opened because I saw a couple of the marketing staff in the gift shop looking at toy crabs and then going outside and looking in the general direction of Ocean Parade. Or, two staff members holding a stick and a bicycle wheel talking meant that they were getting a gyro swing. "The Bus is now leaving for Crab Claw Island, Northern Territory"
  24. Where do I start? So many points I want to cover. Do you think that a handful of people lobbying any government or theme park operator are going to make a difference? The only reason Disney or Six Flags or the like would build in Australia, let alone Sydney is if they wanted to. They would require a massive backing by the state government, and anyone living is Sydney, at the moment knows that the current government is a joke and wouldn't know a good proposal if it hit them square in the face, which is what a lot of Sydneysiders would love to do. Do you seriously think that management in Australia had anything to do with Wonderland's closure? All that would have happened is that Stephen Galibraith would have received a phone call or had a meeting in Malaysia with the board, and been told it was closing. He then would have been offered a new position in Malaysia, which he took, at told this is what to tell the staff and public about the closure. I have to agree that Western Sydney is not a good tourist destination. Besides Featherdale what has it got to offer? When I talk about Western Sydney, I’m talking west of Parramatta to the base of the Blue Mountains. If you get more than 10k's either side of the railway line there is very little infrastructure and any park in that area would require people to drive there, which I personally think was one of Wonderland's major faults. It may not be suitable but it’s extremely popular. Just think where all the cashed up American sailors go when they come to Sydney. Seriously what has John Howard got to do with this? You are obviously a typical life long Labor supporter who fails to see what a bad state NSW is in due entirely to the Carr government. I'm glad that you have seen how much fun it is, keep it up. Do you remember how much of a ****fight there was over a temporary volleyball stadium? Could you imagine what it would be like if they proposed a permanent structure? I agree with you fully, it is the perfect place. It is basically the centre geographic centre of Sydney, it has existing infrastructure, it has existing tourist attractions, it has a hotel, and it has heaps of car park space and much more going for it. The only problem with that location is that if there is an event on, say the Easter Show, it makes it very difficult to cater for both places at the same time. I’m talking parking and infrastructure use mainly. That comment is going to get the treatment it deserves. There have been very valid arguments made by both sides in this discussion but one thing is for sure, unless something changes about the geographical structure of Sydney it will be very difficult for a park to get off the ground, no matter where it is built. "The Bus is now leaving for Argument Camp Bore, Northern Territory"
  25. Really steve? I would have thought they would start at the bottom and remove it bit by bit up to the top and then remove the track. Talk about stating the bloody obvious. It will be removed as Alex and Zordy have said, carefully with cranes, scissor lifts and chainsaws. The arsenic in the treated timber can be fatal to people if it is used for a BBQ, and yes it has happened, at least one person died and several were badly poisoned back in the 70's and 80's. I really have to stop agreeing with Alex, but now I’m agreeing with Zordy too "The Bus is now leaving for Bloody Bridge, Norfolk Island"
