  1. Hey Aidan what your forgetting is that Movie World isn't an old filming company... their filming stages are still constantly used, if your talking about the stages behind the WWW then yeah there is no room, if your not talking about that then sorry. IMO I think the ride should stay! Maybe close it down and get everything back up to scratch, but apart from aging theming the ride is great, no matter how old you get
  2. I thought the eye was going to be permanent if it could be redeemed popular by the public...true or not? Thats what I heard. And whats going on with this halfpipe?
  3. Ok now when I say covered I don't mean drenched. But yeah we all got fairly wet, and this wasn't through the middle of the day or anything. this was at 9:45, we wern't allowed to go into the queue house and the ride op made us stand under the tracks, the first cycle it went on without people as it went the studio the water hadnt "misted" and as it wooshed past us lots of brown mucky water fell ontop of us including operator, and you know wot the operator said to us? Oh dont worry about that the water heaters havnt been switched on yet... Im only going off what he said. The same thing happened for 2 more cycles before it was finally fully misting. Ok sorry about that. I like the concept drawing gazza. its really good, you got a nack! I think the ride is a good addition, and I know you all to think that, as for theming, yeah ok its minimal but IMO (and i say MY opinon) I don't care, it looks good. I wish some people would read properly though and realise that no one in this thread has yet said... i dont like the ride itself
  4. I agree with Joz, its not to over board. But I mean c'mon guys, its a new ride and an australian first at that, cant you just... be happy with what you have?
  5. Question about the "fog"; Does it use the same system as the Superman Escape were they heat the water up (it sucks when you get to movie world early and there doing test runs and on the first run the filth water falls on you) or is the pressured water hitting a pin making it look like mist?
  6. Thats what I was thinking too Swanny, I dunno. I still want to know what is going on near the big brother house and why there is so much machinary in the open plot they bulldozed down. Honestly, I hope that the mine ride isnt closed down, but last time I went on it (october) there seemed to be heaps of missing scenery (the themes) and the ride didnt seem to go as long, was I just imagining it?
  7. Could this be permanant closure? Aww man I really hope it doesnt mean that. Its sucks a fun (maybe not reliable) ride! Anyone have any suggestions as to what is going on?
  8. I wish I was a ride op... it would be sooo much fun. Oh well I like my job... pet shops rock to work at... well except when the stupid bird poo's on ur shirt
  9. I know I may sound a bit weird but... I'm kinda disapointed... it didnt look like what I thought it would be. Oh well, I still want to go on it, maybe it will be better once on the ride.
  10. I remember one day when me and my friends went, whilst waiting in the queue area my friend somehow managed to drop his hat in the ring:S Many people tried picking it up as the drove past and then one couple tried but somehow ride right over the thing... but then it wasnt there... the hat had gotten caught up in the wheels and they had to stop the ride and get the hat out... he went in with a white hat, came out with a black one... awww that was a fun day
  11. Just on a note there... last time I was at MW I saw the ride operater at the LW and then 30 minutes later I went to WWF and saw the same operator, but wearing the WWF tee
  12. Oh ok I see. I apologise then, you can never note sarcasm online
  13. TAKE THAT GAZZA! I suggested that and you said they wouldnt do it because its to hard and its most likely impossible.. hehe
  14. Would that be a good thing or a bad thing?
  15. I gotta stop bringing up old subjects I know, but when i went to SFMM last years, people were taking digital camera's on heaps of coasters with inversions, the ride op's didn't tell them to secure it and they said yeah its fine you can take it on.
  16. Just surfing the net and came across this artical about a rumour saying that Tom Sawyer Island at Disneyland Orlando will be replaced with a pirates playground, heres there article: Orlando, FL (Orlando Sentinel) -- Are Tom and Huck being booted off the island? That's the buzz on websites devoted to Disneyland fans, some of whom were despairing after a report that Tom Sawyer Island might get the heave-ho and be replaced with a pirates playground. Some company officials believe the 50-year-old attraction may be too dated for video-game-playing, Harry-Potter-reading kids, said Al Lutz, who first reported the possible changes on Miceage.com, a website devoted to Disney news. "They had Tom and Huck whitewashing the fence … and on the island interacting with the kids, but the kids were clueless," Lutz said. "I guess in the schools now they don't teach the books anymore." Lutz quoted his sources inside Disney as saying that the company might spend more than $28 million to make over the island in time for next year's premiere of the third installment of the lucrative "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie trilogy. Disney officials would not confirm any changes to the island. "We don't have anything to announce," Disneyland spokesman Bob Tucker said. "We'll let you know when we have some details — if at all." But that didn't stop hundreds of Disney fans from chiming in. Postings on the Internet ranged from the howling mad — "ARE THEY INSANE??????" — to those that said Tom Sawyer Island was in need of any refurbishment. Many expressed mixed opinions. "Part of me (my traditionalist side) takes exception to the idea of Tom Sawyer Island being changed. But on the other hand, a pirate island would be REALLY COOL, and I'm sure I'd have loved it as a kid," said one posting on Lutz's site. The island, surrounded by the Rivers of America, is one of the few attractions designed by park founder Walt Disney. Visitors can explore caves, cross a suspension bridge and encounter characters from Mark Twain's classic American tale. Disney was apparently so dissatisfied with the designers' plans that he scrawled his own vision, which was largely adopted. It also is the scene of Disneyland lore. In the summer of 1970, more than 300 members of the counterculture Youth International Party who were protesting the Vietnam War stormed the park, prompting Disneyland to call out police in riot gear and shut its gates early. The long-haired protesters swarmed the island and hoisted the Viet Cong flag. Eighteen people were arrested. For parents, the island has become a place where children can burn off excess energy by exploring the attraction. The only access to the island is by raft. Over the years, the island has been kid-proofed and stripped of some of its charm. In 2001, a girl lost part of her finger when she caught it in a rifle trigger; after that, the gun turrets at Ft. Wilderness were removed. For years, a dummy settler hit by an Indian arrow lay sprawled in front of a burning cabin. But in the 1970s, in the midst of the oil crisis, the flame was turned off for about a decade. In 1984, fake flames replaced the real ones, and the settler was replaced with a drunk moonshiner. The drunkard was later replaced with wildlife, a more family-friendly storyline. Robert Niles, editor of ThemeParkInsider.com who once worked as a raft guide at Walt Disney World's Tom Sawyer Island, doesn't want to see the attraction go. Neither do his kids, ages 6 and 9. His daughter, Niles said, is a voracious reader and loved the book. "There are some bookworms out there, and I think there ought to be a place for them to play too," Niles said. "And I'm concerned about pirate overload. I don't want it to become the flavor of the month." Jamie O'Boyle, who studies pop culture at Philadelphia's Cultural Studies and Analysis, a consumer research group, said pirates would be a strong draw. "Twenty years from now, they may not remember who Jack Sparrow is, but they will still know what pirates are." What are your thoughts on this? And for those who have been there, would you like to see it go or keep it?
  17. I remember I went to Wet n Wild 2 days after the fire and I was on the mammoth falls tower and there were LOTS of forensic investigators. Lol plenty of burnt sheet metal laying on the ground.
  18. I unfortunatly never got to experience it, and I never had any idea of what the Titanic attractive was. From what I have read it was pretty much an interactive walk thru? Almost like a simulator? If anyone could clarify that for me, thanks.
  19. Yeah I knew Ghost ship was, and I know Matrix was shot in Sydney. What stage burnt down again? I mean what was the stage number, I know it was up the back.
  20. House of wax was made in our stages? Didn't know that.
  21. I'm gunna be up there in feb as well for a week. Will be great fun. Wet N Wild isn't usually busy on Saturday nights... I did the tornado 15 odd times and could of done it more times.
  22. Oh heck yes! Its a MUST do at movieworld, and if it is under maintanence when your there then OHHH THAT WOULD SUCK! But yeah its great ride.
  23. Sorry GoGo... didnt really read your post, I do appologise, but there is not need to get angry (not saying you are but you know how some people can be on here). Might I add to as GoGo boy said about the film crew, I think you may be right because the new WWW staff were working on the towers and in the pools the other day to.
  24. Maybe they want to use media of the actual park with real life guests in it, not like the superman escape ads where they used a different ride. Does anyone understand what I mean?
