Dreamworld - no new roller coaster 2017-18?
Jamberoo Fan replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I know but I thought I'd just give a reminder to @pin142. You probably know more detail information about the development than me (as I've only just recently returned to discuss Gold Coast theme parks) but from what I know, I think it is on both sides of the road but built in stages. The northern side of the road being built first (Precinct 1a) then the southern side (Precinct 1b) and if all the main retail anchors are operating, then DW's end of the southern portion (Precinct 1c) will be built. If there is more up to date plans, just share them with me so I can be more up to date if I'm wrong. -
Arkham Asylum - VR coaster at Movie World
Jamberoo Fan replied to UpperCoomera's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If VR (maybe with the head strapping too) becomes a mainstream consumer product, I wouldn't be surprised if in the future you could just go to a theme park with your VR headset and purchase a temporary download of the VR experience at a ride's retail outlet (one that expires each day at closing time & only works upon entry at the ride though scanning of a code etc.). Lasers. There would be no problem with speed. If the ride has a sudden stop in block brakes etc. due to malfunction, the VR 'world' would stop in the same spot too. The opposite also applies - if you are waiting in the station, the VR 'world' wouldn't travel. This is, of course, assuming the VR is working. -

If they are permanent, they wouldn't be on the list - the list is usually for temporary pyrotechnic displays. I don't know the display you are referring to but from my experience regarding these types of lists, any display you see that is not on the list is usually an illegal firework display plus if it is anything like NSW's list, displays can be added up to 2 days prior to the display. I stand corrected. -
Dreamworld - no new roller coaster 2017-18?

Looking at the Westfield development plans I found on the GCCC website last weekend, the Big Brother House is located just inside the Westfield development site in precinct 1c, approximately where the '800m walking radius' circle intersects with the western side of that precinct. If the Westfield development begins construction later this year, I'm very confident the Big Brother House will be demolished (if it hasn't been already). I wonder what they would do with Dreamworld Studios then? -
Roller Coaster Crash at Alton Towers

I think you can find it here in the media pack (174MB) that was released in relation to the fine. It is 32 pages long with 222 pages of appendices. The media pack accompanied the press release. -

That would seem more likely than fire effects though to the general public, it wouldn't seem much different to normal operations? The RPM is at it's highest in the 2nd revolution because that would be when the ride 'peaks'. When there is 2 revolutions, being an even number, there is no 'peak'. -

Be patient. Whilst there was talk of an announcement in August, do keep in mind the rollercoaster is not due to open for a maximum of 15 months. If they revealed everything now, apart from the occasional construction update, what will us Parkz forum members have to speculate or discuss until then? All the questions would have been answered. There are also many other reasons to not announce something such as licensing agreements, industry competition or generally, just the state of progress in the project. We also speculated that any announcement won't come until well after the DC Comics Super-Villians Unleashed area would be opened so the general public won't get confused between the 2 new additions. -
They were posted on August 24, @Gazza but the image isn't working anymore. They are already in the Parkz photo galleries too.

Just to add to that... If name change is approved, it would take effect late October/early November - depends on when the Australian Securities & Investment Commission amends the Company's registration. Source -
Doomsday Destroyer - reviews and feedback
Jamberoo Fan replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I thought that originally but after looking back at previous photos, the high voltage box has been there a while (with it's theming completed for the launch party) & I don't think fire would shoot out that hole in the high voltage box if there is a railing in the way (unless it is removed for the nights or the camera angle gives the impression the railing is in the way). Also, given there are 2 separate rotating arms on DD, I assume whatever happens on the 2nd revolution would happen on both sides of the ride (unless it features at the top/bottom of the ride). You never know - it might be related in the end. -

I'm taking a wild guess and saying fire effects hence "turning up the heat" and I don't mean on the ride itself (like the smoke effects as that might be a bit of a hazard to have fire there) but somewhere around the ride that would allow their safe usage whilst being close enough to the riders to add an extra dimension to the ride. Also, I don't know if pyrotechnics are used at Fright Nights but the QLD Government's list of upcoming pyrotechnic displays mentions displays in Oxenford on each night of Fright Nights. If pyrotechnics are rarely used at Fright Nights, maybe this could be referring to possible fire effects? -
Unsure if this is old news (I feel like I've read it somewhere on Parkz before) but this Facebook comment says DW has been "working on"...something similar to a history talk about DW's old rides etc. that would happen while travelling on the Dreamworld Express. I guess I should cue Eureka Mountain Mine Ride comments then...

I meant 5 posts in the whole Parkz forums. And in case you're thinking it, I wasn't questioning the number of times you've been on WWF and/or been to MW. I haven't been to MW for over 5 years myself.

I guess they mean fastest WorldAlley ever then...

My apologies if I caused offence. When I said this...: ...I was only trying to be helpful. I saw you only made 5 posts at the time so I thought you were relatively new to Parkz. Even if you weren't a new member, I probably would have posted that anyway as from what you wrote here...: ...I thought you might not have known that Gold Coast theme park management look at the forums regularly. In case you were thinking it, I also definitely did not think you were being sarcastic or thinking I'm pointing out something obvious. Again, apologies if I offended you.

True - Behemoth Bowls are very well known to incorporate lights & internal/external theming. I still think they could have left it as a Behemoth Bowl finale & themed it to a dust storm with the ride called 'The Dust Bowl'. In the end, I was only pointing out where The Perfect Storm is distinct from Funnel Web. Yeah, Jamberoo were not technically accurate there. In the end, it depended on how they defined 'waterslide'. It is clearly a tube waterslide & not a body waterslide so they might mean fastest tube waterslide at least? The general public won't notice the technicality so 1 less word would make up heaps in visitors numbers & revenue. That was originally the plan (but with 2 smaller Tornadoes rather than just 1 large Tornado). I don't think they would've built a Kidz Tornado when they already got plans for an interactive water play area. Well according to Jamberoo Action Park: Jamberoo residents are highly concerned about the colours of new developments at the Park - the choice of colours was what mainly held up the Kangaroo Island development for about 5 years. They probably chose similar colours because firstly, the residents would be happy with it & secondly, it fits the storm theme.

Dreamworld - no new roller coaster 2017-18?
Jamberoo Fan replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, true but I was more hoping it was a 'Nara Resort'-type hotel/resort that connected to either DW or the Westfield development. You only said Foxwell Road originally so I could only hope it was very near DW or the Westfield development. -
Dreamworld - no new roller coaster 2017-18?
Jamberoo Fan replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thanks. I thought it was near the Westfield development but looking at Google Earth, it is about 4km away from DW. I found it through GCCC's PD Online (which I assume is what you mean by GCPD). Good for the Gold Coast but theme park-wise, nothing special - just ordinary local development. It's 215 rooms, a narrow complex and to be called along the lines of 'Coomera China Gardens Hotel/Resort' - something like that. It is themed to China. -

Jamberoo Fan replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thanks. From the plans I found on the GCCC website, it looks highly likely any new gate will come from near the Vintage Cars - there is a clear arrow pointing from Coomera Railway Station, navigating through the Westfield development site before stopping just near the Australian Wildlife Experience. It also seems to be built in 3 stages - the DW end being in Stage 2 (Part A). The supermarket in DW's end though can only begin trading...: Unsure if anyone has seen these already but I also found these plans of Stage 1 of Westfield Coomera if anyone is interested (doesn't include DW end). Link for that too, please? -
That's ok. Your post I didn't think was sarcastic but I thought it was the one...:

Virtual Reality on Motocoaster at Dreamworld
Jamberoo Fan replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'm sure a lot of you have seen this Facebook post but given DW's recent VR theme choice, why do I think this is not a joke? -
Yeah, a very questionable choice regarding it's timing as it looks odd (from the outside) being built right next to Funnel Web, one of the most recent rides. But remember, The Perfect Storm's Tornado is enclosed with lights, special effects and possibly theming inside. When the theming is placed on top of the Tornado like shown on the park map, I'm sure it will look distinct from the outside also. The original plan for this development was to feature a Behemoth Bowl at the end but Jamberoo decided not to go through with it: It's very unlikely they are trying to beat Adventure World. Funnel Web & Kraken are actually pretty much very even in the records so no need to try to beat them particularly when the parks are over 3000 kilometres apart.

Dreamworld - no new roller coaster 2017-18?
Jamberoo Fan replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Is there a link to the announcement @Brad2912? I'm interested in reading it. Depending on what the plans are, it could be possible then that Blue Lagoon might be being prepared for construction but unless Dreamworld Express is closed, I'd think it is unlikely (particularly if it is to build a gate). I don't think they would be 'late to the party' - yeah, the Commonwealth Games are in April 2018 but that only draws in tourists for 2 weeks. After all the media exposure during the Games, they should be another tourism boost after a short interval possibly in late 2018.
