DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion
downunder replied to Richard's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I was sleepwalking last night and a media release came in. The theme will be based on the film Priscilla Queen of the Desert and the coaster will be called Top Thrill Drag Queens. In an effort to save on construction costs MW have been collecting old KB steel cans and melting them down to provide materials. In all seriousness I think it will be an Intamin. -

I 'm glad they're doing Halloween 2 at HHN. The original H2 (not speaking for the Rob Zombie one) has so many great set pieces that would be perfect for a maze. -

The Purge would loan itself very well to a scare zone. At HHN Hollywood, they'd have a Purge leader on a microphone who would abuse people as they went by as well affirming the values of the purge which created a nice centrepiece scare zone - can't remember from last year, but I think they got rid of that feature (not Purge themed last year in that area) because someone got offended. I watched the movie The Purge not that long ago, it wasn't bad. I like they're doing this year at both HHN's in the US with Halloween, basing it on the second movie in the hospital which has some great set pieces for a maze. -

Apparently this topic is now the world's best - the longest discussion thread on an Intamin Twin Hammer in the history of humanity. I doubt they'd do it, but I wonder if they'd consider wild/mild ride cycle variations (like tango train at LPS)? It will be interesting to see what kind of ride cycles they will have available. -

The world's first aquatrax* wacky worm (*feature only available during flooding). On special occasions the world's first underwater coaster. I guess that makes it world class and world's best, in some categories. -

That looks perfect for an Intamin hyper/giga/whatever with a narrow footprint in a L-shape going out along the northern perimeter of the carpark lol. I can dream. In reality, Swamp Dragon, will be the world's longest Dragon Wagon standing at an epic maximum height of 10 feet with 8000 feet of track to thrill your pants off. -

"World Class" leaves a lot of room for interpretation. If you believe Alton Tower's PR department they would have you think "13" is the most amazing coaster ever (I can assure you it wasn't, by any measure). But here's hoping MW's coaster lives up to the hype, Intaminadator 500 might be a blast. VR would be good for and older attraction like Arkham Assylum, perhaps in the form of a full helmet with padding (that would have been especially great with the old restraints). -

I don't like spinny rides, they leave me pretty legless. -
That's cool, if I can find quality food at or near a park I'm happy to pay up for that. Noted for next visit. I did the Shark Encounter not long ago and they were getting some pretty good stuff that would be nice cooked up lol. Though Elle the monster bull shark spat stuff out, but Diesel the Dusky Whaler ate everything.

^LOL they might start doing body cavity searches now. I got patted down once by this girl, she didn't believe there was no wallet in my back pocket (there wasn't). If they had an SE level locker policy I don't think I'd bother riding it, not sure I will anyway. If the ride experience is anything like Ranger at LPS it's not worth the chunder. -
Finally getting my passport! Yay!!!!
downunder replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Awesome, congrats on getting one. After decades of travelling without a problem. I managed to destroy my Passport overseas last year and had to get an emergency passport - you do not want one of these lol. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures in Singapore. They have Halloween Horror Nights at Uni Singapore, but that gets crazy busy and would add expense to your trip. -
^The scary thing about Willams Grove was that the coaster wasn't in much better shape when it was operating.

Williams Grove in Pennsylvania is gradually being reclaimed by the forest.

^I thought they might try it anyway, but being far from the best attraction in the park it might encourage people to skip the ride. Yeah that would make sense with the coaster to maximise locker revenue lol. -

That's probably the most important bit to Movie World. I wonder if they'll slap the dreaded locker tax on this one like Superman? -
The new walking dead attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood
downunder replied to Clayton's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^From what I've read, they have set it up so it can be changed up, which is good. Walking Dead's popularity will eventually run it's course. What House of Horrors lacked to me was moving parts, some nice sets, but nothing much happened. WD seems to have a lot more interaction and heaps happening. The Halloween Horror Nights overlays for House of Horrors were always the weakest maze IMO, it didn't loan itself to being a haunt maze well. Don't get me wrong it's all relative, still lots of fun, but I thought the other mazes were better. I remember the Mummy walk-through before House of Horrors. Waiting, waiting, waiting for someone to jump me - nothing, and then at the very end with daylight in sight, this guy dressed as an Egyptian statue totally got me. -

It's a walk-through with scare actors and animatronics. Similar to their mazes at Halloween except with a better fit out because they have a bigger budget for a permanent attraction. From what I've read they'll change it up during Halloween Horror Nights by adding more scare actors. It sounds pretty good and a real improvement in terms of quality on the old House of Horrors attraction that was there. -
I went by Celebration City in Branson, with it's perfectly good GCI wood coaster mocking us. Just recently it was sold off and the coaster was demolished. I remember when I was small, seeing the aftermath of the Luna Park Sydney fire from the cliff top at Milson's Point. I wish I'd had a camera, but I remember it vividly. Seeing the lift hill of the Big Dipper badly burned. Friends in New Orleans have offered to take me through Six Flags New Orleans. Though by the time I get there, they might have developed it into a new park.

Have they even officially announced what type of ride Doomsday Destroyer is, even though it's fairly obvious to anyone with functioning eyes? Hopefully the coaster will be fairly obvious soon. -
^And it is 2016 lol. Nice action shot Doomsday!

Nice observation, maybe you should at least be able to keep a wallet in your back pocket, even if it reduces locker usage. -
I'm sympathetic for people who can't control their weight because of medical factors, and I'm certainly not talking about you. I'm talking about the majority who have a choice, it's disturbing and at the end of the day they are harming themselves and dramatically shortening their lives. It's very easy to consume an extraordinary amount of calories and exponentially harder to use those calories, but it's a choice.
