I think its fantastic the park has given the ride a decent life renewal, especially at a time where a few of us were preparing to say goodbye to the ride. You could almost say it is back to its former glory. But I think the big question on everybodys mind is, will they maintain it, and, where is the swimming shark? Now, if only the Tower of Terror's refurb was as good as this...

Just on the the whale, it used to sit in the tour office, which was above river town fast foods? Or was it somewhere else?

Mark, a few questions for you. 1 - what is happening with the steam locomotives? Can you find out a definite answer, or the current rumors? 2 - Is there much old relics in storage? Are things like the old horse carriage and tower of terror 1 pod hidden away somewhere? 3 - Why was the water fall on the river turned off all those years ago? 4 - Do they still have the old fibreglass whale in the park? It apparently used to sit in one of the tour offices?

Dreamworld locomotives "were are they now"
T-bone replied to Jakev8's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Currumbin use the steam engines on the weekend, and electric on weekdays. Rumors so far is that they are both going to Woodford Railway, second being that one is going to woodford to be "operational", whilst the other has an operational future on the gold coast. Now there are no other 2ft gauge railways on the gold coast, except for Dreamworld and possibly Sea World (not 100% on the gauge). Whether this rumor is saying that Dreamworld will keep one steamer to run once a year on a "steam week" style event is the question that remains to be seen. The final rumor is that one engine will be put out the front of Main Street station for kids to get photos with (and ultimately let the engine rot away like the Fire Engine, and Little Puff. I have so far not been able to get anything confirmed. -

From the Buzzsaw queue, if you look towards the Big Brother Ampitheatre, you can see the Baldwin (red) locomotive. Otherwise, if you can't be bothered waiting for Buzzsaw, you can see it from the Fenceline near the bus parking area. -

The baldwin sits at the back of the shed, visible from outside the park, whilst the Perry sits inside the shed, only visible if you catch a glimpse as you go past one of the sheds windows. There's a few rumours circulating about their future, but nothing has been confirmed. -
If you are a local and a potter fan, and want to ride the newest big thing on opening day, why not wait the whole day? Gives you a good chance to check out the queue and take it in. If I fit that category I'd consider it.

The "lake" where Dreamworld gets the water for its water rides (ie behind the log ride) is also a flowing Creek (Oakey Creek). It's dammed up where the bridge to vintage cars is, but it has constant water flowing into it upstream from the Creek. As far as I am aware, the Murisippi has no inflow other than rain and probably park drainage, and the river overflows into Oakey Creek. So that's a little insight into the parks waterway systems.

Quite possible, but that said, would they have already reworked and rethemed the cave section with the saw equipment if it is still to be announced as a "revamped" attraction? Probably unrelated, but I noticed there are some new mounting frames hanging over and beyond the gondola on the Giant Drop. First thought is that they are new camera mounts, but I guess they could be anything. Could we be seeing a small scale refurb on the Giant Drop?

MW Mini Driving School - Officially Confirmed

I will admit, the scale models of main street from what we have seen here are pretty damn impressive, and they look like they will have lights in them. As a modeller, this is really impressive. As a theme park enthusiast though, well... -
I doubt it, the track itself whilst looks similar, looks too small in width when compared to Metropolis.

Parkz News Five possible replacements for Dreamworld's Reef Diver

That makes no sense though. Heck you could even say that it is Motocoasters height off the ground which helps ruin it. Height alone has nothing to do with whether a ride is classed as a "thrill ride" or not. -
You must not have read what Alex said above, Disney parks around the world don't close their water rides as soon as 5pm rolls around...
