DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion

No clue unless the colour was selected back in 2008. That's the first clear google picture I have. Why would it not have been planed to be moved over a year ago when the plans were produced? -

If you close it in it becomes a plant room, that's a whole lot of ugleness. -

It's also peculiar because if it remains it will be an eyesore. -

One thing we are running low on is updates on the conduit. I have not found on any plans that the electrical distribution box will be relocated to a different location. Not to say it won’t but for now it remains directly under the lift hill. -
We might need a whole topic on unions within Aussie theme parks. (Ben Swan, the state secretary of the Australian Workers’ Union, which had been raising ride operation issues with Dreamworld for more than a year before the October tragedy, said the system of self-regulation was not good enough. Mr Swan said it was worrying that there had been two evacuations at Movie World after clearance had been given following safety inspections of all amusement rides late last year. “The view of my union is the state government needs to start giving very serious consideration for a specialist unit that is appropriately resourced to actively monitor and inspect safety standards in what is one of Queensland’s most important industries,’’ he said.)

The AWU already showed its poor form during the DW incident. I’m more interested to find out what time the bbq will fire up and when the sausages will start to flow. I can’t really comment on MW wages because I don’t know anything about them.

@djrappa What's political about a union asking for higher wages for it's members?

Once the tender is won by a company the files are locked. The track plans were locked last year and unless you saved a copy of the plans before they got locked you can't get access to them now. -

I knew you had it. The notes I added are for people who don't know the site. I was even going to google overlay it but I can't be bothered. I hope they are adding some shade over the entry ramp. -

LOL. The train travels from the left and comes out the right between the exit and entry ramps. -

@JaggedJanine The far ramp has a roof and is the exit ramp. The ramp closest is the entry ramp and only has a roof half of the way. Going by that drawing you will be standing out in the sun while you wait. On the other hand it will be shady when you get off. -

I'm thinking GL level also. A part of me wants more but I don't think we can really complain. -

That would take the fun out of trying to work it out. To answer your question if you were asking. I don't know what it is. If I was a guessing man I would say by looking at the station, very minimal. -

Since the station has now been shown, I will add the elevations. What the elevations don't show is a roof over the path. Track into and out of station. -

@djrappa If it is safe for a disabled person to enter an area you are required to provide access to it. The 4th line I don't think it would be a fire exit. Could it be a line to ride at the front of the train? -

Every line within the entry and exit have disable access. Red: Tactile ground surface indicators. Blue: Landings + ramp max 1:14. Green: Handrails extend past ramp. All this indicates disable access. Yes I screwed up 1 red/blue arrow. -
The submissions date has come and gone and nobody made any submissions about re-zoning the site. We have now moved onto wait for council to make a decision stage.

Gold Coast city planning committee meet again next Wednesday. No agenda has come out for the meeting yet but we should see one soon. If the Car Park is not on the agenda, it will be another 3 weeks before this committee meet again. The committee meetings are not broadcasted so it will take a couple of days before the committee notes will be available to the public. The notes will indicate which way the council should vote at the next council meeting.- 499 replies

Now I am really going to get in trouble for taking this topic so far westward but don't you think @reanimated35 this would be a great replacement for the rapid ride? Hopefully it's DW dropping a hint. -

Totally off topic but does anybody else think this screams Jungle Cruise. Jungle Cruise like ride for the current swamp. If DW was to do this for real, I would support it. So, my post isn't totally irrelevant. You both make good points.
