Mick Doohan Motocoaster construction discussion

But... it's still a high capacity for Dreamworld... and the highest capacity out of all there rides. Also considering that it has just opened, this is a good thing as they won't have had the full time to master it. But once they have mastered the in's and out's of it, hopefully it will have a decent capacity. Another thing to remember is that Scooby Doo has multiple cars, and can fit more people on it per cycle, so of course it will 90% of the time have a greater capacity. -
Myk, I know what you mean about the Green Room, it's really faded already (and it hasn't even been open a year) Yet the Tornado down the road is still in great nick. Also things like the Temple Of Huey are also starting to fade, I'm really hoping that this park doesn't go downhill. I also know what you mean about the replacement for Eureka, I'm currently working on a No Limits coaster of what I'd like to see in it's place. But I don't expect to see anything major happening for Dreamworld next year, especially with the WhiteWater World Expansion planned for next year. But Dreamworld, feel free to prove me wrong!

Oh, please... we can only hope that isn't the case! They have already done this with the Thunderbolt / Cyclone case. And on another similar topic, the "Stingray" is currently in peices near where the Thunderbolt used to stand. So i'm not sure what this means for the Stingray. I would personally like to see a EuroFighter or another compact roller coaster where the Mine Ride is. For this replacement, I personally wouldn't care if it didn't loop, it could be another family attraction while still being thrilling (more thrilling than the Motocoaster) And then for there next coaster build a Looper. My reasons for not caring about the inversions for this replacement is because the ride needs replacing, and it should be something similar. While a inverting coaster would be nice, there needs to be something more to do in Gold Rush that families can all do together. I'd either want to see something like a new Wild Mouse go in there, or something to the Caliber of Mystery Mine in Tennessee...

Mick Doohan Motocoaster construction discussion

I rode the Motocoaster at the Media Launch, as well as this weekend. The Motocoaster still does loose alot of speed towards the end. But from the photos of it that I saw, I never thought of it as a "Thrill" ride, but a "Family" ride. If I had to rate the Motocoaster on a Thrill Scale, it would probably get a 3 out of 10, but on a FAMILY scale, at least a 7.5 out of 10. I mean, it does certainly feel faster after riding it a few times. While it still isn't the worlds greatest coaster, it has a VERY broad appeal, as we have been able to see with the "Parent Swap" and sidecar feature. This means the ride can appeal to families with young children (6 - 7) as well as teenagers, and even older people (50 - 70, and don't say 70 year olds WONT ride this, because I've seen it) So for a broad appeal, this coaster was a very wise addition. But the ride was just purely marketed the wrong way and if it had been marketed with a family approach it probably wouldn't have been such a let down. Those are just my views on the ride. While it could have been better, it's still a solid attraction, and the capacity is rather high (approx 500 per hour from experience) -
Unless they extend it again *Fingers Crossed* Because it's actually very good.

Hmmm... that does sound alot like Dreamworlds Freezer, except for the opening room...

It is $10 for the return pass.

Any news on how long the Eye is going to be staying yet? Is it still leaving early May?

Ahem... Wiggles World does actually have theming... The Big Red Car, Rosy Tea Cups etc. are actually custom built and custom themed to match what they are meant to. Wiggles World doesn't need too much theming to be attractive to little kids, The Gardens and those swirly things really are quite effective. Along with the S.S Feathersword, so I don't know what you are talking about there.

Everybody... get your cameras out! I'll be there on Saturday, So I'll take some photos on my phone (as my camera is packed in a box). I should have the photos by Sunday. -
Even if they had the "Crunchy Seat Covers of Hot Steamy Death" Still I would be happy, just don't have them red!
-
I will agree, I mean the Claw is now overdue for a paint job, the main supports (legs) are really badly faded, and hopefully they will get rid of those red seat covers and bring back the yellow color (even if they are still the covers) Because the all the red really clashes.

Thats what happens when you go every few weeks... it's all about being in the right place at the right time.

Something similar happened to me last year on Scooby Doo, just before the the Bunny hops at the end of the Wild Mouse Layout (1st hill I think) the ride came to a halt but didn't completely stop and went through almost crawling along and then stopped at the next block and the ride then stalled and we were walked off. Not sure if this is the same incident or not.

Chaos Maniac, In what ways do you feel Dreamworld is going downhill? I'm interested to hear. I mean, they have just spent 60mill approx on a new Waterpark, they brought Flowrider last year, and introduced Nightmares on Boxing Day, and not to mention the new Roller Coaster, I mean the theming leaves alot to be desired but recent additions have had good theming (i.e Claw, Wiggles World). So is there something else that is upsetting you? Also the nighttime events can't be bad for the park, as it is popular with guests, is successful and produces more income for the park to spend on improvements. But thats just my views, but I am very interested in hearing your opinions.

What rides may I ask?
-
The Claw has been having issues as early as Ekka 2006, where it kept on stalling and having to be reset.
-
It hasn't been that bad... i've been to the park 3 times... all coasters have been running 2 trains.
-
Well mikey... at least that means the wipeout is working again

Saberon, Adam is right here, just because they load, unload and travel in the elevator in pairs, doesn't mean they are blocked in pairs. The only real modifications to the block system which makes it any different are the blocks telling when the elevators can move. Even then its basically the same. The first car to enter the lift would be the block, then when the 2nd one enters, it would tell the system that the elevator at the bottom is ready to move, and then it checks the top elevator to make sure it's clear (which can result in a 2-3 second delay in moving after the spiel) Then when the lift reaches the top, it just reverses the elevator block thus making car number 2 in the first block so it can reverse out then followed by the 1st car. The load and unload station isn't any different to a normal block system, as it follows the same standard rule, but they are both locked at the same time as the station is able to handle 2 trains, then as soon as 1 is dispatched it continues straight through the ride, and about 15 - 20 secs later the 2nd car is dispatched. The unload procedure is basically the same as the load procedure. As Adam has clearly pointed out these systems are designed not to be complex, because if they are too complex there is more room for error. (such as the 2003 Wild Mouse incident at the Royal Melbourne Show) So all in all, the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Block System isn't as complex as it seems.
