  1. Hey guys, just got back from Dreamworld. And I will say this right now... AVPX was very damn good. The theming is a bit ordinary on the outside, but I was told this was going to be fixed up soon. However on the inside, it is very well done. As far as the setup of the attraction goes, it is very similar to the Batman ride at Movie World. You enter into one of the three briefing rooms where you are placed into two teams. The "Humans" and the "Infected Humans" There is a bit of a Pre-Show before entering a "Ice Tunnel" To Antarctica and you then enter the arena by one of 4 doors. After both teams are in... the games begin. The arena is surprisingly roomy and the theming inside is absolutely top notch. You get around 10 minutes of Game Time and the whole experience is around 20 minutes in total. I felt very satisfied with this investment and even went through it twice. I must say kudos to Dreamworld, Lynton. V Harris and Sudden Impact Entertainment for this attraction. Not to mention it looked very permanent from the inside.
  2. I could have told you that Noel Dempsey was much better than Stephen Gregg 6 months ago.
  3. Okay... first of all Whitsy, those sort of comments such as your side note are not really acceptable on these forums. It might amuse a 13 year old, but not anyone much above that age. You will find that most of these people are actually interested in the technology and mechanics etc behind the rides as well as the management side of things. I am heading down to Dreamworld tomorrow to check out the new attraction and I will let you guys know what I think of it. From what I was told it was a bit of a rushed finish, but people have been working after hours to get it 100% running. So if you go in the next week or so you might not get the full attraction, but since it is done by Lynton V. Harris, thats a pretty good indication as to what to expect.
  4. "Corkscrew Roller Coaster will be closed 5 - 24 May inclusive for scheduled maintenance." I'm guessing they are going to finish the paintjob now? They probably opened it up now for the Easter Holidays when the park will be even more packed.
  5. Mmm... I still found it to be very fun either way. Black Hole however was like a sauna in summer! Getting into the tube it felt like you were going to melt as it was black.
  6. There is nothing wrong with Black Hole, the ride itself is very fun. But it just does not offer the same experience that Terror Canyon does, the effects just give it that edge. For example, which would you find more enjoyable... Wild West Falls with all it's ORIGINAL theming, or Wild West Falls with the bare basics. Same goes for something like Bermuda Triangle. Guest's do also appreciate a little bit of effort, amazingly.
  7. It might be time to consider IP Banning? Anyway, we should get back onto the topic here. I have mixed reactions about the Jet Stream's Refurb. I am very glad to see Wet'n'Wild Making these improvements to older rides (despite not being that old) I can only hope that Terror Canyon's refurbishment does not change the overall experience of the ride. It was one of my favorite waterslides with all the "speed bumps" and optical effects. Truly unique to Australia I will say, Black Hole is nothing compared to these 2 slides IMO.
  8. Not to mention the only waterslides that nearly caused a brown pants moment for me...
  9. Probably due to the Abrupt airtime you got on the 2 outside ones... Most likely WPHS got in on it. I don't know for certain though... but it seems logical. They like doing things like this despite no injuries have been caused... Just like Bermuda Triangle's rotating platform.
  10. Well I'm sorry Alex, I had not seen the edit at the top of the first post stating that he had found the name.
  11. There is only one of them and it's not some scary carnie ride
  12. I can't vouch for the inside as I ain't going near anything with spiders in it
  13. Pirates revenge is just the flume that was at Luna Park Sydney. And as for Haunted Hotel it's the old Haunted Mansion ghost train but it has been fully re-themed.
  14. The show was called Cash Bonanza if I remember correctly.
  15. I have one somewhere, I'll have a dig around for it tomorrow.
  16. HOLY CRAP It looks like the Thunderbolt! And it wasn't just my imagination seeing that from the Gold Coast Highway going past Aust Fair!
  17. KFC FTW! But yeah... not including a drink is just bad... It makes Dreamworld all the more tempting...
  18. Each person is different though. But a slide should not be causing pain no matter who the rider is. I would assume this would be part of the reason why they are renovating it. Also... Jetstreams were prone to MEGA Wedgies!
  19. The middle one was the WORST culprit... Red marks and even minor cuts on your back from it is not a good thing... And I am not exaggerating that.
  20. I never really liked the Jet Streams because of how much they hurt your back... however the airtime was INSANE on them. If they have managed to fix the back scraping issue those slides will be freaking insane!
  21. By new slides do you mean the Refurbed Jet Streams or brand new slides?
  22. Sorry for the Double Post... but some info has been put up about the attraction. From April 10, Dreamworld will become the stage for an immersive combat experience where humans are the bait and their mission is to survive. Taking place in an intelligent arena that fights back, combatants earn points by engaging multi-layered targets with a Delta Strike phaser that triggers both shotgun and rifle-effect beams and comes with LCD screens and speakers to provide real-time game play information. New York based producer and director Lynton V Harris, the man behind attractions based on blockbuster movies, has been tasked with pushing laser combat beyond the arcade. “No one has themed laser to this extent and it was important that we get it right, so we went straight to the source,” said Lynton. “We flew to Los Angeles to meet with Amalgamated Dynamics Inc headed by the Creature Effects Creators of Alien vs. Predator, Tom Woodruff Jnr and Alec Gillis, to keep the attraction as consistent to the movie as possible.” AVPX is included in the Dreamworld entry price. 23. Not to mention Sudden Impact manage to do these sort of things very quickly... I can only hope the theming is as elaborate as the Mummy or the Angosica side of Nightmares. If it is just like the freezer it would be rather disappointing.
  24. Yes... "the stairwell to the left of the Tower of Terror shop is reserved for Q4U riders and evacuations only. Please enter via the big sign that says Entrance"
