  1. I did get that the Churros man was a joke, however you still could have been passing on some new information and just making a joke about that.
  2. It's great to see that the White Christmas event will be back. This new VIP Pass with Fright Nights may add a little truth to a comment in another thread (although it came from a guy selling churros - haha) that the Fright Nights will be toned down to make it a more family friendly event. I know how successful the Fright Nights have been with the older park attendees and it will be a shame to lose what the have built up, but I can definately see the marketing value of making this a family event, and any event that is going to bring in loads of money to the park is always aa positive. More revenue hopefully means more, better quality rides and attractions.
  3. So what sort of coaster can you get for around 7-8million. I don't think that Disk-O's are really dear considering the investment that Aussie world is undergoing is 3 million in total and the are putting in 3 new rides for that price, including their new Disk-O. With the price of the Aussie dollar, it can't be to bad.
  4. I have picked up on the few hints from Wyncenuros and Joz and have to ask what proof they have of this style of coaster? If you guys are right I really look forward to this addition to the park but wondering if another Batman themed ride is agood idea. When does it become to much, especially when you already have 2 and 1 of them doesn't even run anywhere near full capacity?
  5. Well I am going to put my 2 cents worth into this discussion and add - whether they build the long or short model, having another rollercaster at our parks is still a bonus. Looking at the Maurer Sohne website the X-style coaster trains look amazing and will give a ride experience that we don't have here in Australia. This coaster should be a great addition to the Gold Coast. I can only see this as a positive and with the competition watching closely down the road maybe this will be the beginning of a Coaster War (we have more than you).
  6. ITs called the RED BACK. should be open in time for Easter according to the guy at the front gate. Also to come this year at Aussie World is a Log ride similar to Dreamworlds. This is to be built hopefully before the end of the year. I think Its great to see another park investing in some new attractions. Maybe one day Aussie World might be able to compete with the big guns.
  7. Just to touch on a topic from the past - How come it hasn't been mentioned on these forums yet of MovieWorlds new upcharge attraction, The Hollywood Stunt Driver Pit Pass. People critisied dreamworld when they introduced the V8 Supercars red line attraction now MovieWorlds new $179.00 upcharge hasen't even been spoke about. As a car and theme park enthusiest I will definately be forking out my hard earned to experience this new attraction but I am just wondering what other people on this site think of the Movieworlds latest idea for a moeny grab. Having paid big $$$ to do the WRX experience down the road I believe that this attraction seems good value. Does anybody know anymore about this than what is stated on the MyFun website.
  8. I've got it. The worlds fastest backwards launching roller coaster.
  9. Found this link on the Screamscape website today. http://www.rickupsidedown.com/?page_id=489 Looks great.
  10. I am sure Dreamworld will come up with something about the longest face first drop on a roller coaster or at least something along those lines.
  11. I am assuming that after the refurb, TOT will be a new record holder again. I can't wait for the new ride experience, I just hope that Dreamworld don't think that they can get away with doing the ride change and not introduce another new thrill ride for the next 4 years.
  12. I remember it - sort of. Wasn't it just a holiday thing done to Pirates of Penzance style or something like that?
  13. I know we sit and criticise these midway games, but at the end of the day if they are bringing money into the park then why is this such a bad thing? Yes, they may not look asthetically pleasing, but they are still turning money over. I was at seaworld last Sunday and during the lunch period you could hardly have a go because there was so many people willing to play. Maybe we just need to look at the bigger picture.
  14. I wonder if they got in trouble calling it Wet n Wild. He did ride the Wedgie early in the morning, along with Warwick Capper. The early segment on the show was very entertaining. They had the ride open today but the line was nearly to the bottom of the stairs both times I drove past. It would be interesting to know the capacity figures of this slide.
  15. Thats some great information. Sounds like Movie World and Dreamworld will be looking at extended trading hours over the next summer. As a Christmas Lights fan I can't wait to see what Movie World do with the main street. With the Wedgie opening in April has anyone been past and noticed any construction going on yet? They are not giving themselves much time.
  16. Matilda has been found! She is still currently sitting in pieces, conveniently at a Matilda service station in Bald hills Qld. I have a photo only I've lost the data cord for my phone.
  17. According to the Courier Mail today this park has also now been put on the scrap heap. the Consortium is claiming the finacial crisis and in turn is selling the land off, supposedly for $10 Million. What a sad end to a great opportunity for the Sunshine Coast.
  18. Sorry to bring up an old topic but thought this may have had relevants here. Grays Online are auctioning off all old Police Academy Stunt Show cars. http://www.graysonline.com.au/sale.asp?SALE_ID=70819 Auction Starts 8/05/09 and ends 12/05/09
  19. Seeing the Western show when it was outdoors is a walk dowm memory lane. Thanks for the link.
  20. I wonder what they are going to charge to ride the Vortex once it is re-opened.
  21. I would expect soon to see Dreamworld remove the gate fee and charge for a ride pass. (eg. Aussie World). Are they too impatiant to wait till the Coomera shopping complex is built, invest and turn it into an entertainment precient. All these extra charges after paying a rediculous entry fee is just crazy. They really need to re-evaluate what they are doing. They must realize that Village Roadshow are smashing all their attempts to draw a crowd with all all 3 parks.
  22. Weren't they re-furbished not that long ago?
  23. Does anybody else think that this big wheel craze is getting out of hand. Each time a new one goes up they lose their uniqueness. Have Perth not learnt from the Brisbane wheel that they are not as profitable as they would hope. Anytime i've been to southbank there has only been a handful of people on the wheel.
