  1. I decided to go take a look for myself. I think your scale is off. Attached is a nearmap image, with scale. Overlaid on this is topgolf Alexandria. You will see I have left the scale in from Topgolf. Unfortunately I don't have Nearmap access to the USA, so i've had to pull it off Google (but as you will see, the nearmap image is also using Google imagery), so i'm confident the scales are relatively on point. I haven't cut it out as fancy as you as i'm working with microsoft products on an office computer, but i'm confident the scales are as closely matched as I can get them, and you will see not only that your scale is off, but also that my scale has TG positioned well within the markers we've been discussing, including the building sitting nicely within the carpark width.
  2. pffft. Who cares about noo zulland? Didn't do Wet N Wild? Not even for the single credit? Or was Surfrider (as usual) closed?
  3. Are you referring to the green stairs? Pre-existing. Like the marketplace before it - the ramp will no doubt be accessible, especially as: this outlet is likely planned to be a primary exit from the park to drive guests through the store modern constructions have to comply with disability access requirements by law. The store entrance will likely be on the other side (closer to the entrance to the park), which will see it output onto the bitumen ramp rather than use stairs. As for there being a second storey of the store, it is possible, given other lego stores do have a second level (take Downtown Disney as an example) If there is a second level, stairs won't take up much space compared to the added floor space of an additional level, and a small disability access lift won't be much of an issue either. That said, I don't think the Dreamworld store will need one as its unlikely to see the traffic of a store such as Downtown Disney. I think we can start making comparisons to stores such as that though as the framework clearly indicates a similar style.
  4. So? I provided an image already that demonstrates how a 3 storey building of that size would fit within the confines of the current carpark... Hell if you curve it even further to represent that like the other sites, it would be narrower. Ignore Alexandria. Ignore Las Vegas. They're a good indication of design and layout but this doesn't have to be identical. it doesn't have to be as long or as wide or as high as the others. Its their first venture in Australia. They aren't going to build the biggest behemoth ever until they test the waters. I don't see them getting the patronage that foreign versions will get. At the MW property, It's an add-on. A convenient way to offer another experience on property, rather than a destination. I'm satisfied this will be - for want of a better term - 'top golf lite' while they work out how the Australian market will take to the concept - before they 'go big' by creating a destination site.
  5. I personally hope that they do NOT theme the hotel to anything outlandish. My thoughts (especially since we're supposed to be "Hollywood on the Gold Coast") would be the Art-Deco style theme you see at Hong Kong Disneyland's Hollywood Hotel. see if this link works to check it out! edit: I think though that we will probably see something very similar to the design of Sea World Resort - rooms are clean, functional, with a subdued and understated colour scheme, but nothing more than that and a picture of a relevant topic on the wall... and i'm totally ok with that if it keeps the cost down and is a convenient place to stay on the coast for visiting the parks.
  6. Thanks for the update TPG! Roof? Or structure? Roof previously was a blue and white alternating checker. Frame was always a deep blue. This is what the frame looked like back on 22 September - how does it look compared to what you saw today?
  7. We've been well impressed with every iteration of AOS so far, although as you've only seen one version, i've no doubt you will continue to regard it as the 'best' regardless of what replaces it, so I look forward to hearing all the things you see wrong with it when the new show opens. I have absolute faith in the team at AOS and i'm sure it (the new show) will be just as spectacularly enjoyable as all the ones before it.
  8. Don't forget too that many of the documents lodged with council were done prior to some deadline before some sort of regulation or policy change - we speculated at the time that VR ltd had submitted all their 'potential' plans prior to that cut off to ensure more favourable treatment should they take the option to proceed. Lodgment with council doesn't mean something will actually happen within any particular timeframe, although as i've mentioned earlier today, if they don't take the option (*usually within 2 years) then they need extensions, or need to resubmit.
  9. RFID tags usually just identify themselves by a number or similar. The details of what that tag is authorised to do, etc are usually stored on a server. When the tag identifies itself to the reader, the reader queries the server to determine whether that tag is authorised to access. Some RFID tags do store additional information, and are capable of providing information to a reader not connected to the 'home' server, but i should think in this particular case, it would be as simple as the park running code to deactivate tag numbers not purchased that day. They don't need to 'disable the transmitter' they just simply block that particular transmitter ID from gaining access. In my opinion it would be a very stupid move, unless the park sold so many of them that people couldn't get a turn.
  10. Mate, you're not going to submit EVERY ride on a 10 year masterplan to council at the same time - and that isn't what I said. What I said was stage one. The mammoth is on the plan, and it got built... The usual run time on a DA ( @YLFATEEKS correct me if i'm wrong here) is about 2 years - and whilst you can get extensions, a lot things can change in 2 years - not least of which would be conditions council might impose and legislation or regulations that would require changes to the DA after that time period. The only things put to council are the attractions planned to be built (well - construction started) within the period of expiry.
  11. TBH - given the location, an indoor section would just appear wrong for me - you'd have this hulking great shed \ building right out on the driveway - which has very little WOW factor compared to a spideweb of track. But - if they do want to do something, I think a 360 degree projection room just long enough to fit the coaster train - such as Manta in Sea World San Diego - would be perfect. I stand corrected! Erm... the place hasn't been Nara in donkeys years. It became Sea World Resort, and then, Sea World Resort and Water Park.
  12. @Jamberoo Fan - at the risk of causing conflict, which I really don't want to do... clearly - as you can see - some of the others commenting have known about some of these things a lot longer than you have, and are clearly much more knowledgeable about them. Maybe consider that before you need to 'stand corrected' again. It's really getting frustrating for you to make a prediction, only to be immediately shot down by someone that has actually read the threads and knows that what you're saying is incorrect. Also - every time one of your 'scatter gun' predictions comes true, you don't need to quote it and point out how right you were. We know - because we've actually read the threads. I do want to say though that you're putting a lot of thought, research, time and effort into your posts, and the well thought out concepts are a really enjoyable read. If only you took the time to read past posts first, I reckon you'd be bang on the money every time.
  13. Short and sweet... just like your visit! thanks for the update Richard! Looks like Megan has found her second wind and is churning these out again. How many more to go before Australia is done?
  14. ^THIS. This is what many parks (not just on the gold coast) need to follow more often. Take @Mark Shaw's work here with Kraken... constant updates, teasers, and a promise that we'd be 'the first to know' (except of course viewers of ACA but you can't have everything). The only thing i'd like to see more of from MW with regard to the current construction is more 'official' teasers - even if they're not ready, they could be 'formally' building the hype using social media etc. If Parkz has got so many replies to this thread in such little time - imagine what they'd be getting on Facebook if they were posting a few 'official' tidbits - lacking substance but providing just enough to stimulate discussion. Remember @Tim Dasco, 'worlds best theme park draw card' isn't a term they've used. What they have said is that the attraction will be 'worlds best' of it's type. As has been bandied around - it could be 'worlds best' dragon wagon and still fit that criteria. Also - I think you should book in for an exorcism - you're starting to sound a bit like Push. I think a dark section would be cool, but TBH, if the coaster is anything like what we know, or have been led to believe (depending on who you are) - I don't believe it will need it, and i'm sure - just given the footprint we have seen so far - that it will not disappoint. @Gazza
  15. ^doubt it - but if that is the case, given that Nigeria is a member of the Commonwealth Games, i'm sure they'll know in a couple of years. Also - pretty sure Emmanuel is a masculine name.
  16. Your first image is the positioning as I understand it. Given what I posted this morning in terms of the square footage of the building, as well as what I understand from various articles and sources about this development - the first image is right, but the Vegas facility is much larger than the one planned for MW's site. Here is SS9, with scale to the bottom right.
  17. I must say - i'm surprised @themagician didn't get more positive reputation for this post. The image is fantastic.
  18. When quoting building size, remember that the measurement encompasses multiple floors laid over each other. a 3 storey building of 65000sqft = 21,666sqft per floor. that gives you something like this:
  19. They did. The master plan was all over the illawarra mercury at the time, and council had approved stage one... this was just their overall plan at the time, which of course changed as they moved on.
  20. I was thinking the same thing Pin. Perhaps its going to be a clone (in which case the cat is out of the bag!)
  21. They may not have 'mentioned' the coaster, but the news media already broke the story based on the development application... so its not like they've been silent on it... we all know its there - why announce before they're ready?
