It's perfectly acceptable to refer to a bitumen topped suface as being "paved" as it refers to the american "pavement" as opposed to "pavers". "bitumen and asphalt" are actually the same thing - that is a sticky petroleum product used as a binder. Unless you're referring to "asphalt concrete" which is when it's mixed with an aggregate to form a road base. Search for bitumen on Wiki and you'll be redirected to Asphalt... but without the aggregate to form Asphalt concrete, you aren't getting a road.

TBH, I feel like the food stalls would be better placed over in WB Kids. I'm unsure whether WBK is open during carnivale - and if it isn't, it makes the area useful. If it is, then parents can taste delights whilst the kiddies have a ride. WBK has always lacked the lighting required for a safe nighttime atmosphere though - they'd have to improve it - this would take some of the choke out of main street, whilst still keeping the food close enough to most of the entertainment. Naturally, the reason the food is where it is is because that gives them all weather usage - with the roof overhead, and this is probably why it is there. TBH I'd love to see them extend the roof out towards WBK a bit more - even if it weren't as high, and install an awesome light package across the entire kids area to really light it up. Some of my best park memories as a kid was going through Hanna Barbera Land in Wonderland at night - and despite the 1980's incandescent cavalcade of boring white light, the movement of the rides made it magical. These days with low voltage LED, it shouldn't be hard to achieve something amazingly better for a fraction of the cost (installation or running).

Big Thunder only just came out of a lengthy refurbishment in 2013 - it is unlikely to be doing so again. A quick google shows no listing for Big Thunder on the various closure schedules, some of which reaches 2017 https://disneyland.disney.go.com/calendars/day/ https://touringplans.com/disneyland-resort/closures https://www.undercovertourist.com/blog/disneyland-refurbishments-closings/ http://ocattractions.net/closures/ Are you sure you aren't referring to BIG THUNDER RANCH which is an entirely separate attraction \ venue to Big Thunder Mountain? BTR is closed permanently as the land will be taken over by Star Wars Land. Where did you get your information regarding reworking the drop below water level? Late mail - THIS site shows BTMRR as down for scheduled maintenance, from April 11 to April 14 2016 - and it's the only one to list the coaster as down at any stage this year.

Luna Park Sydney confirms Tango Train closure
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I doubt the staff know much if anything, and their "i know but i can't tell you" response is just meant to drive the grapevine (or just irritate you because she felt like having a bit of fun). -
It's actually a bit more complicated than that. Single gondola operation usually cuts the staff required for the ride so there is no grouper - the grouper also plays the role of harness checking etc. It's not a direct double to the queue time as the staff doing multiple roles slows them down - they must ensure guests are clear from the load zone and exit door before they can proceed to the queue to admit more. I'd say the 45 minute marker would have easily equated to 2 hours. just my opinion.

I recommend at least two days for HKDL - even though it is the smallest of the Disneyland Parks, it is still worthwhile to take your time and explore it all. Your second day won't be full, and if you caught the fireworks on day one, you'll have an evening free. the park looks amazing at night, but if you've had enough, grab one of the free resort shuttle buses just outside the entrance and go and have dinner in either the HKDL hotel or the Hollywood Hotel. I personally like hollywood better, grab a drink at the bar, wander around and check out the finer details of the hotel and the gardens overlooking the bay are awesome for an after dinner walk. The hotels are also a great way to get park souvenirs and merch without the crowds, and they sell a lot of the same stuff, as well as some unique stuff you won't find in park. For ocean park, avoid Thursday - Monday. Best days are tuesday and wednesday to avoid mainlanders as much as possible. USS can be done in a day, but spend two to cover off everything, and spend part of your second day checking out the rest of sentosa if you haven't done it before.

I think Sony dabbles a lot with creative bodies because they started out making video bodies, and then purchased a ready made mount system for still shots, so they're doing what they always do - putting their history and tech into the still bodies the same way they always have. Canon on the other hand doesn't have the video background, theirs have always been still. Yes, their bodies are more and more able to be used as a cinematic camera, but you can't fault them for being behind sony in that regard. I dislike Sony predominantly because they adapted the konica minolta mount primarily as an 'in' to the industry. They snapped it up right as KM fell off the wagon, so all of the previous KM users went to Sony because their lenses fit. Problem is - all the KM lenses were film ratio, so for the first (almost) decade of the Alpha mount system's life, most enthusiasts got suckered into buying it to keep their lenses, but the lenses were never meant to be used on a digital sensor, so the aberrations were terrible. Canon developed EF-S when they released digital SLRs, so their glass grew with it. Alpha lenses had some catching up to do, although they have now achieved it, I still despise them as a photographic company. (When it comes to audio and video however they are exceptional. I still to this day use Sony Vegas - although that too was an aquisition of another company's tech when it folded)

I went on the Pacific Dawn (P&O) a year or two ago. One of the best cruise directors i've ever seen - Willie Lee - has his own facebook following and all. People book their cruises based on whether he is scheduled to be CD on the ship or not. I found the biggest problem with P&O were that parents basically just tuned out and let their kids run rampant throughout the ship. As for drunken \ rough behaviour - didn't witness it at all. We did stay in a suite, but perhaps on the lower decks things got a little rowdier - i wouldn't know. We'd get little notes in our mailbox telling us about a late night party in the Dome (our rooms were underneath) but we never heard a peep.

Regarding cruises that (mostly) depart from Brisbane - wonderland fans may be lucky enough to score a cruise featuring Anthony (Tony) Laffan - unfortunately he's not doing the magic these days - but he has one hell of a hypnotism show.

Sony? Blasphemer! Konica Minolta should stay where it belongs - back in the 90's. As for the rest... Amen to that. As for how he knew it was you - you don't exactly make a secret of yourself through on-ride videos being narrated on screen, and various other bits and pieces. @reanimated35 is quite the facebook stalker... but i got one over on him when I found him first.

Thanks for the additional info. I realise that any sound business operator is always open to the idea of selling if the deal and the time is right. The info I had read came from the GC bulletin. I wasn't aware AFR had been the source, otherwise naturally it'd have garnered a little more integrity and perhaps be taken a little more seriously.

It was rumored a few months back when all the Wanda hype was out there - some GC Bulletin hack interviewed someone at DW and put it to them that Wanda may just buy DW instead. The rep suggested that no such approach had been made, but that they were not closed to the idea. Sounds like media beat up.

You're in university, but not old enough to go by yourself, and another two years before your parents would let you? Who are you? Doogie Howser? (although based on what you've said you probably are too young for that reference). I don't mean to offend, i'm legitimately curious how a university age student would need parental consent to go overseas - I think american kids call it a Gap year. Snooty american kids call it a sabbatical... no doubt you could probably find others through Parkz, or TPR who would go on a trip - and if you look into it, TPR trips tend to be nice and easy. Cost wise yes, still prohibitive, but where there is a will, there is a way... especially with HECS\HELP programs and the like...

Physical sets shooting gallery. Am I the only one envisioning this?
